Gold rushed to the exit of the cave at last, completely out of breath. He had run frantically through the cave in attempt to capture Zackary, but apparently it failed. He sat on the floor and pounded his fist on the ground. Bret watched as Gold was breathing heavily and somewhat throwing a fist as if he had failed.
"Gold, don't worry about it," Bret said. He sat next to him and held out a pokeball. "Here, we can rest and take care of Diglet for a while. After all, you need to apologize to it for attacking it like that."
Gold sighed. "I guess, but I need to catch up with that creep. Think about poor Larvitar…"
Bret threw down his bag and plopped on the ground. This was his signal that they were going to rest, whether he liked it or not. Unzipping his bag, he pulled out a few supplies and then picked up the pokeball. He clicked the button, and Bret's new little mole pokemon appeared. It still had the injured spot on the side, making Gold feel the guilt again when he had attacked it before.
"Weeelll, go on Gold," Bret said with a grin. Gold slightly grinned and patted the pokemon on the head.
"Hey, I'm sorry about before. I was frustrated and I took it out on you and your friend. I really shouldn't have…" The Diglet grinned and happily looked at Gold. Gold sat quiet for a moment and then remembered something. "Hey, Diglet, how did you get hurt? Were you attacked by another trainer?" Diglet nodded. Gold was completely filled with rage.
As Bret was organizing his things, he heard Gold mumble something about "that creep." He sighed and tried to get his mind of the trainer. It felt strange that he, for once, would be in charge of putting Gold in line. Making him think about competitive battling and loving his pokemon, not a trainer that abused his pokemon. He knew there were plenty of those. The first thing that popped in his mind was Team Rocket. Why couldn't Gold think of them?
Bret mentioned this to Gold and he scowled at the comment. "This is totally different!" he exclaimed. "Those goons melted those pokemon's minds in thinking that they were evil! Larvitar still has a good heart and I know it won't give it up!"
God damn, Bret thought. He just wouldn't give up. He decided to give up on Gold for a while and focused on healing Diglet. It healed quickly after the potion was sprayed on it. Diglet was soon filled with energy again, probably the same amount it had before it was attacked.
When Bret was finished, Gold was still moping around on the floor. Bret sighed and whispered towards Diglet. He had an idea to get Gold's mind off the stupid trainer, but he needed assistance from one of his new partners. Diglet immediately understood what Bret wanted and ordered them immediately. It popped underground immediately, and Bret waited patiently. Gold didn't notice the scheme, and not even after it had started. Diglet popped its head out of the ground right under Gold, making him fly. Gold landed hard on his chin and slid in the dirt. He jumped up and looked at Bret angrily.
"Hey, what are you trying to pull here!" he shouted with a fist in the air.
"Oh, nothing," Bret responded. He chuckled and held his hand up. "Diglet, use tackle!" Diglet went underground and came charging towards Gold. Gold hopped on his feet as if he were hopeless. "Gold, aren't you going to protect yourself?" Bret shouted.
Gold knew what Bret was trying to do, and he wasn't happy. He felt a little too down to battle, but Bret wasn't going to give him a choice. So, he pulled out a pokeball and threw it. "Bret, you will regret this! Go, Pikachu!" Gold's little electric mouse appeared on the field and looked ready for battle. "Okay, are you ready Pikachu?" Gold shouted. "Pika!" he responded all pumped up.
Bret grinned. He liked to see this. He just needed to push Gold a little farther past his limits. "Diglet, use mud-slap!" Diglet shot mud at Pikachu. It was a direct hit, making him fall back hard.
Gold knew that ground was effective to electric. "Pikachu, don't let that attack get you down! Keep it up!" Pikachu leaped up and sent sparks from its cheeks to show how strong he really was.
Bret grinned again. "Diglett, use tackle!"
Diglett charged towards Pikachu at a fast pace, leaving a trail of dug up dirt behind it.
Gold smiled. "Pikachu, stop Diglett with tail whip!" Pikachu smacked Diglett hard with his tail, making him stop its attack. "Now, use quick attack!" Pikachu was close to the little mole already, so the attack hit strong and hard. Diglett winced at the attack and then popped underground, coming out in front of Bret.
"Diglett, I think we should show them our strongest attack now! Use magnitude!" Diglett focused up its energy and released it towards the ground. It furiously rumbled, making Pikachu fly into the air off his feet and land hard on his back.
"Pikachu!" Gold shouted.
"Hmp, are you ready to give up," Bret giggled.
Gold looked at him intensely. "I'll quit after we win. C'mon, Pikachu, let's finish this! Let's show Bret what we can do!" Pikachu used as much strength as it possibly could to stand up and send out more sparks.
Bret was getting through to him and he knew it. Gold was getting really pumped about this battle. But that didn't mean he wasn't going to fight to win. "Diglett, show them one last magnitude!"
"Pikachu, stop the attack with your own ground shake! Use brick break on the ground!" Pikachu slammed both his arms into the ground while Diglett used its little body to shake it. Both pokemon were hit by the other's attack, making them both collapse on the ground, completely exhausted.
Both pokemon were down for a second and then they both got up again. Using all their strength, they stood up and showed that they were both ready for more battle. Gold couldn't believe it, but if Pikachu wasn't going to give up, than neither was he.
"Pikachu, use-"
A loud screech suddenly filled the air, cutting off Gold's command. The noise sounded like a battle cry, and it was so loud that it filled Gold's ears to where they were ringing. "What is that?!" he shouted.
Bret looked shocked too at the noise to where he couldn't order an attack as well. Gold thought for a moment before running forward, scooping Pikachu up, and racing towards the source of the noise. He looked back at Bret while running. "C'mon, we have to find out what that is!" Gold shouted at him.
Bret looked at Diglett before taking off after Gold. Diglett went underground and followed underneath him. They both ran until they came at the most unbelievable sight ever.
A gigantic bird was in the air. It had wings shaped and colored like lightning itself and it looked extremely powerful. Gold wondered if this was a some sort of pokemon, so he pulled out his pokedex.
Zapdos, the Electric pokemon, read the pokedex. A legendary pokemon that is said to live in thunderclouds. It freely controls lightning bolts.
"A legendary pokemon!" Gold shouted.
"Gold!" Bret shouted. "It's Silver and Emerald!"
Gold looked and saw both his brothers standing there in front of the bird. Emerald was bent down, making only the green jacket on his back visible, while Silver was facing the bird proud and brave.
Gold rushed over there to face his older brothers. "What's going on!" he shouted at them.
Emerald's face looked completely flushed. "That pokemon is extremely powerful," he said. "I tried to battle it to keep Silver's pokemon safe, but it wiped me out completely. Now Silver wants to prove himself by battling and capturing this pokemon. But Gold, his pokemon are way to weak to battle alone."
Gold looked at the large, electric bird. Storm clouds formed around it and lightning shot in the air. Gold knew what he needed to do. He rushed over and stood at Silver's side.
Silver looked over and glared angrily at Gold. "What're you doing!" he shouted.
"You can't battle this thing alone, so we can team up and take it down together. You know that your pokemon are too weak, and so are mine, but together we should be able to take it down."
Silver didn't speak for a moment, but then bent his head. "Fine," he growled. He pulled out a pokeball, while Gold did too. They were both about to prepare for one of the biggest battles of their lives.
Ooc: Hopefully this can make up for my last post =)
