If you notice, Mantine's sprite had a Remoraid accompanying it in Gens II & III, but absent from Gen IV onwards. I guess it was because of Mantyke being introduced.

It's a great physical wall, and it has decent Attack as well.

Although Skarmory is part Steel-type & has a tail, it cannot learn Iron Tail. Not sure why

Whereas Primeape can learn Iron Tail, despite not having a tail.

Easily one of my favourite Pokémon and all-time favourite Steel-type.
As for Primeape, it can learn Iron Tail because Mankey gets it. Same with Blastoise, maybe they attack their enemies with their stubby tails? 8D

Skarmory does get Steel Wing and Iron Head, though, which are decent enough.
