i've wanted to get something unique like Vulpix as a starter, but i always end up with a basic starter like Chimchar/Cyndaquil lol. haven't found out how to game the personality test yet.

Sorry but I just don't really like using it, I think its designs pretty cute so it sorta lands in that middle range but overall I just don't think its a Pokemon I get excited about or have good feelings off.

I love Vulpix, and just adoooore Ninetales, I just used her in my yellow run--i personally think she's the best fire type available in gen 1 because she benefitted more from the special stat being 1 and those trapping moves were really broken. I use Ninetales quite a bit, and took on the battle frontier in Emerald with one. She is such a cool annoyer, with things like confuse ray, toxic, hypnosis, dream eater, mimic, imprison, will-o-wisps, and just has a really varied attacking move pool too.

It gets an awesome hidden ability in drought. And I'm the proud owner of a shiny Ninetales with drought on my Omega Ruby game, I caught it as a Vulpix from the dexnax. It's already a striking pokemon design, and has one of my fav shinies.

It has really interesting origins in Japanese mythology with it's basis on the kitsune yokai, and it's Pokedex entries are some of the most fascinating in the game. Ninetales is the personification of 9 Noble saints or wizards, and it's tails are filled with magical properties and pulling one can result in 1,000 year curse. This pokemon understands human speech and can live for millennia.

I love the Johto episode Just Waiting on a Friend, it features a lonely old manor with almost extraordinary Ninetales. It's a good one to watch on Halloween for it's otherworldly and eerie atmosphere, and the ending I find quite touching.

The Gengar that leads Team Meanies was once a human, but he pulled one of Ninetales' tails.

EDIT: Also, Ninetales is safe now. Jigglypuff is next.
