Regular Sandshrew is pure Ground, while Alolan Sandshrew is Ice/Steel.

14. Kantonian Sandshrew has Sand Veil and Sand Rush. Alolan Sandshrew has Snow Cloak and Slush Rush. Their abilities do the same thing but for different weather that fits their type contrast.

Yea, that's the one. He's a slippery one to fight in Ash Gray. His moveset counters Ash's team at that stage. He has a rollout for pidgeotto and butterfree, and dig for Pikachu. Even if you pick up Bulbasaur early, the Sandshrew can rapid spin away the leech seed, and is packing fissure as a nasty surprise.

I like the ice blue color scheme of Alolan Sandslash especially in the shiny form. Same goes for Alolan Sandshrew.

I've used an Alolan Sandslash in Pokemon Moon. However, I haven't taken it to the Elite Four.

One of my favorite early route pokemon to catch. Either of the nidoran line can be useful along your pokemon journey, but I almost always choose the female!
