Not every pokemon has to be a strong though. We can still learn something even from Pokemon that are weak. I think it's origins are quite clever. Farfetch'd is an illustration of the Japanese proverb Kamo ga negi wo shotte kuru, meaning "a duck has come bearing green onions." It's supposed to be silly and unfortunate because that would be a dead duck-- a duck seasoned with onions. It's someone walking around with a noose around their neck and oblivious, so it makes sense that Farfetch'd would be easy to knock down. I think it's cute.

I wonder if the popularity of Game of Thrones might have helped spur on the decision to finally give Farfetch'd an evolution, since the Galar region is inspired by Great Britain/the U.K, and so is the world of Westoros-- a medieval one. One of my favorite characters from Game of Thrones/ A Song of Ice and Fire was Ser Davos Seaworth the "Onion Knight" who also rose from humble origins. Now in Sirfetch'd we have a literal knight of the onion.

I read that the idea to evolve Farfetch'd in gen 2 was into a swanlike Pokemon that would wear a black mask, kinda like the swan lake ballet.

It would be interesting if that could be a branch evolution for female Farfetch'd.I really like the knight Sirfetch'd they went with in gen 8 too though.

Farfetch'd is another Pokemon that has a message about the environment in it's backstory. It was hunted nearly to extinction, but fortunately there is some good news too. According to the Crystal Pokedex entry, "In order to prevent their extinction, more people have made an effort to breed these POKéMON."

What do you think the method of evolution ought to be for the female, and should it get a different dual typing since Sirfetch'd becomes part fighting? Hmm. This has gotten me thinking of all the possibilities!

Maybe level up on or near a water area since it would become a swan of sorts. Edit: or level up at night since it wears a black feathered eye mask like you'd have at a masquerade ball, that would also make it like Odile the Black swan.
