Why doesn't Vespiquen learn spikey shield? Can't it make a shield of combees and use their stingers?

That'd be a neat idea. Or a version of Protect which lowers the opponent's Special Attack if they try to hit Vespiquen with a special move.

Vespiquen's attack order has 90BP and a high chance to crit. That's a great bug type move yet it's stuck on Vespiquen. That move could have gone to something like Scizor or Escavalier

During the Isle of Armor DLC you have to fight a Dynamax Vespiquen to get Max Honey, which is required to be able to Gigantamax your Urshifu.

Stealth rocks are the bane for lots of pokemon, and Vespiquen is weak to that too. Come to think of it, stealth rocks really is overpowered.

I hold a grudge against Stealth Rock for invalidating Pokemon like Charizard, Articuno, and Moltres.

Stealth rocks invalidate Vespiquen because you don't want a tank to enter battle with 3/4's of its HP. Vespiquen should have rapid spin to deal with that. I mainly don't like it for making Volcarona harder to use despite it being a fantastic pokemon.

In Gen 8, we got the Heavy-Duty Boots, which protects its holder from entry hazards.

Seems like a decent item but leftovers would be a better option. Vespiquen at least has heal order and roost in the gens heal order is available, but switching in and out isn't good if you want Vespiquen to keep its defense boosts from defense order.

I think higher attacking stats would be nice for Vespiquen.

80/80 attack isn't bad for a tank especially one with a great STAB, but if you're going to increase its attack you have to change Vespiquen from a tank to a sweeper. To even it out Vespiquen's defenses would have to be lowered and its speed needs to be boosted. Overall I think that is what Vespiquen should have been since the beginning.

I think Vespiquen could've been a good tank with a different typing, but Combee should've gotten a male evolution with stats fitting for a sweeper.

Those are all more reasons as to why Vespiquen is a disappointment. Speaking of which, why does it have destiny bond yet no access to other utility moves? Why not give it whirlwind? It's part flying has other wind moves.

Want to talk about worse? Up to gen 7 Vespiquen would have to be taught bug bite and bug buzz from a tutor which costs BP or learn it prior from combee. It could not learn those moves on its own.

Prior to Galar the only game you could catch a Vespiquen in the wild were the gen 5 games where it was a 5% chance encounter.
Luckily it's become easier to obtain and you no longer need to bother trying to get a female Combee.

5% is quite low for a Vespiquen. I'm surprised it could not be found in the wild until gen 5 given how gen 4 has lots of trees and forests.
