Elecitivire is one of my all-time favorites. It has been my main go-to Electric-type Pokémon since after I played the Generation II games when I needed to stop hacking in a Zapdos with my Action Replay at the time. When I started playing online, it was time to stop cheating, so I needed something non-legendary to begin my adventure. Elekid was great to start with! Electivire is great for a playthrough because of its vast coverage, which is unusual for a typical Electric-type Pokémon. Elecitivre gets a lot of flak for supposedly not being good competitively, but I know how to make it work reasonably well. Much love!

There is only one negative I will say about Electivire, and it was the first time I ever felt disappointed with a pokemon. Look at its movepool: Cross Chop, Brick Break, Dynamic Punch, Low Kick, Low Sweep, Hammer Arm, Focus Punch, Power-up Punch; and tell me why it isn't Electric/Fighting. Tell me why Electivire has a great 123 Attack stat yet its best physical electric STAB is a recoil move with Wild Charge at 90 BP. Tell me why Electivire is slower than Electabuzz. No matter how many times I have tried using Electivire in online battles I have always struggled to gather results with this pokemon. It loses in 1 hit from earthquake and cannot shrug off recoil damage so easily. I always wished Electivire was better.

Other than this negative Electivire has one of the best designs for a pokemon I have seen since its debut.

Well, nearly every Electric-type Pokémon loses in one hit to Earthquake. lol Electivire can be used in different ways, but the best way to use it is with a Water-type Pokémon. Personally, I use Starmie for the job, but any Water-type that is weak to Electric-type works. Gyarados might be the best teammate for it, similar to how Gyarados works with Jolteon. Pelipper works too because it sets the rain for it and help Electivire use Thunder with 100% accuracy. Naturally, a player is very likely to hit your Water-type with an Electric-type move. Before this happens, you switch into Electrivire and trigger its Motor Drive Ability, giving it a speed boost. From there, Electivire can be used as sweeper, or you can give it a Choice Band and use it as a powerful physical wallbreaker with massive coverage. Also, understand that Electivire can be used as a special attacker as well. While its Attack is higher, its 95 Special Attack is nothing to sneeze at, especially when it can learn good coverage such as Flamethrower, Psychic, Weather Ball depending on whatever weather is in play, and have Thunderbolt for STAB. It can also pivot out with STAB Volt Switch. Electivire would do so much better if it was in Scarlet and Violet because it learns very powerful physical moves that aren't Electric-type, and great special moves as well.

UPDATE: Looks I posted too late. lol

Anyways, I'll vote Magmortar up.

Magmortar is the Special Attacking Fire King of NU. Also flame body is an underrated ability because burning pokemon is quite dangerous, and making burns happen through contact is more threatening.

Also I do believe I have some clarification to make for Electivire. I believe it is still a good pokemon, just not a great one. Recently I had one in my team for Ultra Moon and pairing it with my starter, Primarina, showed that it can still carry. It may not erase or amend all the other losses I have had in the past with Electivire, but it is a start.
