That's most interesting; it'll be very hard but I've seen people beat Red in Crystal with only two Sunkerns and beat Fire Red with only Weedle, Wurmple and Caterpie. It's on like Donkey Kong.

That said I had asked for only 4 Pokémon, do I choose four out of those, roll 4 out of those, or do I need to do this with 6 mons - because I'd really rather not do this with 6 mons if possible -?

Just pick 4. It's not like it gets any easier by having you pick as opposed to a RNG.

Pokemon Black Episode 1: Neu Beginnings.

So I start my journey, pick a boy, name myself Ian, and enter the world. Cheren comes into my room, but Bianca ran late. Since I can't catch my first permanent member until Blitzle, I am to solo through with Snivy. I win both battles, apologize to my mom, and head off to Juniper. Upon getting there, I run through the Pokedex guff, and named my Snivy Boa. I go out to route 1, we do the first step time waster,and get taught how to catch a pokemon. If I have to solo with 1 pokemon, I decide to stock up on Pickup Lillipup, for free items(and who does not like free?) BUT turn out I find nothing but Patrat, and the one pup I get has Vital Spirit…. Bummer. I do find another Lillipup that does have Pickup. I get shown around the Pokemon center, and Ghetsis starts a speech about liberating Pokemon.

I then fight N, win, get the running shoes take out a few trainers,fight Bianca, get to level 11, heal, go to the trainers school to fight Cheren, lose, head to the dream yard to train. I obtain the Panpour, name it Monkey, beat Cheren, beat the gym with the help of Monkey. I go face team Plazma with an almost dead team, I guess I rushed a bit too much. Well, with the dream mist quest completed, I can move onward.

Pokemon Crystal Random Pokemon Challenge Update

Just beat Morty in Ecruteak City and obtained my 4th badge! The only real issues i've had so far were against that god damn Whitney and her Rollout Miltank and against Morty and his level 25 Gengar. I'm currently on Route 39 headed to Olivine CIty.
My current team consists of:

Natalie - Level 20


MVP so far would have to be Bindi the Growlithe. Absolutely tearing it up so far but I worry she'll fall off relatively soon due to not being able to get a Fire Stone until Kanto. Crossing my fingers that Alan will call me up and give me one sometime soon :(

The Random Pokémon in Pokémon Diamond

CHAPTER 1 - Wild tutorial appeared!

I haven't played Gen IV in a while, but this game has probably longest tutorial. I mean I had to beat whole Gym and get to next city before I was able to get my starters Buizel and Pachirisu.
Then it was piece of cake. I caught Murkrow and beat Spirit Shackle with it. I used same strategy on Maylene. And Pachirisu shocked Crasher Wake.
But that Underground mini-game? It took me forever to find the fossil. It feels like it was fun when it was alive, but now without other players it was really frustrating. But I got Cranidos, which has pretty bad movepool in this gen, so I think it's win in the end?
Now I'm on Route 210 on my way to Celestic Town.

Also I hate Fog.

For this run, I decided to go crazy and make my character a gender-bender named Noel.
This run, I shall be a girl.

Anywho, the run started out slow, but rolled over into a good pace. Lost to Gary in the tutorial battle with my newly recieved Mars the Bulbasaur (which doesn't really affect much tbh), but beat him in the battle on the route to the league, so that's a plus. Along the way to Pewter, I also caught my other permanent team member, Beatrice the Beedrill, as well as some other Pokemon to make a ragtag team that was ready to face Brock any day. And face Brock we did; he fell like a boulder on a cliff in no time flat, and quickly gave us the Boulder Badge before he could careen off course any more than he already had. Hopefully Misty as the next hurdle will not be too much of a challenge next...

Time for an update!

Whallan's Crystal Random Pokemon Challenge
After spending numerous hours catching a dunsparce and growlithe I decided to challenge the Sprout Tower for some much needed experience before taking on the local gym. K-Nine the growlithe put in a lot of work taking out all of the bellsprout. The master's Hoothoot was a bit of a struggle but we pulled through.

After healing up at the local pokemon centre I decided to challenge Falkner's Gym. Both K-Nine and OnePercent put in some work to get past the first trainer, but we pulled through without much of a scratch. Falkner himself was a little more difficult but rage can become a powerful move. Once Falkner was defeated he awarded us the badge, a long with the TM for Mud-slap!

After leaving the Gym I was told to meet up with Professor Elm's aid to take care of the egg Mr Pokemon had discovered. Once I obtained the egg I headed off the Azaela town via Union Cave.

I had reached Azaela town to find that a Team Rocket was cutting of Slowpoke tails to sell. Before challenging Team Rocket I managed to catch a Paras in Ilex forest. I then went to Slowpoke well to defeat Team Rocket, which I was able to do with relative ease. Kurt was so happy that he gave me a Lure Ball as thanks!

The next step before leaving town was to challenge the Gym. Once again OnePercent with her rage put in the work and one hit Bugsy's Scyther!

Alright, so to save time, I will not be going over the hour of grinding I had to go through to be even remotely prepared for the second gym, as it would take over 90% of this log entry. What I will mention, however, is that sharpening 6 Pokemon at once, including my new Gina the Geodude, on the grindstone is just as fun as you'd expect grinding to be.

Anyway, after that, I beat Gary in a surprisingly even-matched battle, went through Nugget Bridge as well as its damned disguised Rocket Grunt host, got the S.S. Ticket from Bill, and, to top it all off, beat Misty in one of the most lucktastic beatdowns I ever faced: Peter was the only Pokemon present in the match, and Starmie went through a critical hit, ended up being paralyzed, and lost a turn due to paralysis on the same turn, leaving Pikachu with way more than enough room to go in for the kill. After that fiasco, my new Cascade Badge felt like a gift from Fortune's loot box, but I went with it anyway, and so I was off for the next gym.

CHAPTER 2 - Why is there math puzzle in Ghost Gym?

Well, last time I ended right before Celestic Town and I must say... It's so different in compare to Platinum. I was expecting Cyrus and got only some kind of Grunt.
Anyway, stopping Team Plasma in this game is pretty easy.
WILD DIALGA APPEARED! And was caught in Master Ball.

Now with the little annoyance gone, I got to Sunyshore City and finally caught my last team member - Sara.

I'll probably finish the game later today - I'm not sure how long it takes from last Gym to the E4.

CHAPTER 3 - I'm Fire-Type Specialist, but I don't have any Fire-Types

One thing that I dislike about Sinnoh games are teams of E4. Aaron and Bertha aren't that bad, but Flint's team is so bad. Lucian's is probably best team in Sinnoh E4.
Cynthia was fun like always. Spiritomb, Roserade, Lucario and Milotic were easy, but Gastrodon and Garchomp countered my team pretty hardly. My strategy to use Matsuri on Garchomp was destroyed with one Earthquake, then beat Sho (which isn't surprising at all), but finally lost to Mei.

Mei was probably best member of my team with Yuzu and Himeko close behind. It really felt like I was only using these three and then sometimes the other three members (but I got Sara and Matsuri at the end of the game). Sho was worst member - it was hardest to find, train and use. I was expecting something better from him and I just put some HM on him in the end.

Been a while since i've updated it. Have been taking it pretty slowly. Am currently up to the Elite 4 with a team consisting of:
