Eleanor's fifth update on Pokémon Ultra Moon

For this update I decided to wear...
👗 Grimmsnarl Hair - Haute Couture - Every Slot
When in battle, when one of your Pokémon is on the field, you can only select the "Fight" option. (No Bag, no Run, no switching unless your Pokémon has fainted).
Grimmsnarl Set (1/1): You get one bonus coin for every level your Pokémon have gained during this segment, up to a maximum of 10 Coins.

My team after beating Kahuna Nanu is...
    Primarina, lv. 45 • Mudsdale, lv. 44 • Magnezone, lv. 44 • Leafeon, lv. 43 • Zoroark, lv. 43 • Archeops, lv. 44.

My Balance now is... 83 🪙! That's 57 + 16 (Haute Couture Item that is a standalone set) + 10 (for the levels my Pokémon have gained).

Sixth update yay! I feel like getting into this part of the story has made me a bit more enthusiastic about what's coming up. I can feel the anticipation! And sure enough, Guzma second fight definitely worked well in that sense, by giving some of my Pokémon trouble... until my newly evolved Archeops completely swept him with Acrobatics.
Nanu was also taken care of quite easily, thanks to Primarina surviving all of his Pokémon's attacks on 8 HP and retaliating with the newly learned Moonblast!

Now, as you can see, not much has been happening. I was able to level up my Pokémon quite a lot though, mostly thanks to the "Bravery challenge" thing that this rule enforces (no running from wild Pokémon) and all the Team Skull grunts, and this grants me more bonus coins! The levels, the new moves, Archen's long awaited evolution... all things that are really rounding out my team. Sure, it has some weaknesses, it's not the best team I could have, but I like it anyways! It's getting me through this game, all while using some Pokémon that I would've never picked otherwise. More of that in the future though, now I'm on my way to the AEther Paradise...

    Segment 7
    - Costume: Banette Set

    - Got Newton the Octolock and a Toxapex I forgot to name, let's consider it was named PPT, I guess.

    - Toxapex set up Spikes and dealt with Scrafty, microTesla still had one level before it was phased out by the rule so I just Choice Scarfed + Bug Buzz Malamar and Obstagoon, and then Newton dealt with Skuntank.

    Team
    Spoiler:

I wore a Haute Couture set so I get 8 + 8 = 16, leaving me with a total of 62 coins. Once again, I'm pretty sure I should have gotten the opportunity to reroll for the clothes I got on Segment 4 and 5 as I was wearing the Banette Set for each, so I'd like a reroll for those, please.

I'd also like to buy an Haute Couture Head for 8 coins, leaving me with a total of 54 coins, please.

    Pokemon Firered - Segment 4

    Clothes used for this segment:
    👗 Persian Gem - Decent - Head
You may not use any Red, Green or Blue Pokémon.
    👗 Victreebel Pear - Fancy - Body + Legs
You must Perma-box any Pokémon who gets poisoned in battle and takes poison damage for at least 1 turn.

This turned out to be a much more challenging segment because of the Victreebel Pear costume. A lot happened!

    • Due to using a different costume, I was able to withdraw my Pokemon that had no HM moves (Pidgeotto, Geodude, Mankey) - decided to leave Rattata in the PC
    • Headed over to Rock Tunnel so I could get to Lavender Town
    • Cleared Rock Tunnel without Flash - after getting lost several times, I gave up and searched for a map on Bulbapedia
    • Made it to Lavender Town
    • Went up Pokemon Tower and cleared all the trainers before realising I wasn't at the point in the game where I had the Silph Scope to defeat the ghost
    • Got told to get out by the ghost and left the tower
    • Defeated the fishermen south of Lavender Town, started realising how much danger I could be in from the Victreebel Pear costume when I saw Pokemon like Tentacool being brought out
    • Cleared the trainers on the route next to Lavender Town
    • Grinded and levelled up my Pokemon using the wild Pokemon in the area, since the 'no evolving unless the Pokemon is level 25 or under' rule also no longer applied, I managed to evolve Mankey into Primeape (Lvl 28), Geodude into Graveler (Lvl 25), Diglett into Dugtrio (Lvl 26)
    • Fought a motorcyclist with Koffings, unfortunately I could not OHKO the Koffings since they had Levitate and ended up killing Primeape under the rule
    • Got very unlucky and got a few other Pokemon poisoned on the way heading up to Celadon City, either from trainers or even wild Pokemon such as Oddish - lost Pidgeotto and Graveler at some point
    • Caught Lasagna the Growlithe as I found out it was a brown Pokemon after checking
    • Lasagna the Growlithe also got poisoned whilst grinding due to wild Oddish
    • By the time I got to Celadon City gym, I had a very overlevelled Farfetch'd and Dugtrio after the mass poisoning of the rest of my team who had been permaboxed after each incident
    • This was a tough gym, because whilst Farfetch'd could OHKO a lot with the Aerial Ace TM I had taught it, it was a traded Pokemon which meant that before the 4th gym badge, Farfetch'd only obeyed you up to Level 30 - afterwards, there was a chance it wouldn't
    • This was stressful as it meant I could risk getting poisoned unnecessarily if Farfetch'd decided not to attack
    • So I tried to carefully rely on other Pokemon during the gym battle and somehow made it in one piece to Erica
    • I was very lucky during the Erica fight because the Farfetch'd got Stun Spored so I didn't have to worry about getting poisoned as I was paralyzed
    • Was hard trying to attack given the paralysis + not obeying combo but with the help of Super Potions, we won and got the 4th gym badge somehow!

So here is the team + badge proof + the state of my PC box (everything outside of Rattata and Squirtle got permabox'd from the Victreebel rule this segment):

    Spoiler:

I think I managed to follow the rules this segment hopefully!

Edited this in but I just realised the next gym is poison and that doesn't sound good at all given the rule I have right now :P Can I please spend 5 coins each on a new body and leg part? :D

  • The Volt White 2 Spooky Ball (3/8)

This segment, I decided to go a bit more simple than last time:
    Spoiler:

After the horribly long Pokestar studio tutorial that I won't be touching anymore, I took my first step into Castelia City, where I was greeted by a kind man who gave me a Shiny Charm (welcome to Volt White 2 I guess)
Before anything major happened, there was a lot of catching including, somehow, a Shiny Clefairy (that Shiny Charm really came into use)
I immediately went to the sewers to clear it out from Team Plasma. . . right after getting lost for about 10 minutes
After I cleared that out, I trained up 4 new Pokemon that I caught (Cobalt the Gible, Rose the Ralts, Navy the Elektrike and Pebble the Pidove ) and went to take on the 3rd gym

    The 3rd Gym, Burgh:
-Pebble had evolved into a Tranquil at this point and OHKO'ed the lead Vespiquen with an Air Cutter
-Burgh sent in a Scyther which easily OHKO'ed my Tranquil with a gem-boosted Wing Attack
-Sent in Quilava, who recieved a similar fate to Tranquil after landing a Flame Wheel
-Navy, who became a Manectric was next and managed to finish Scyther with a Spark
-Next was his famous Leavanny who got OHKO'ed by a Flame Burst. . . yes, Manectric learnt that. Then was a Parasect which basically recieved the same fate
-Finally was his Masquerain, which fainted to a few Sparks

    The team after beating Burgh:
    Tranquil, Level 28 ~ Gabite, Level 28 ~ Dewott, Level 27 ~ Manectric, Level 28 ~ Quilava, Level 27 ~ Kirlia, Level 25

And that's that for Segment 3! I don't plan on spending any money this segment cause I plan on saving and being responsible for once in this challenge 😅(And yes, i did follow the rules of the clothes)

  • Update #8

    Clothing Items
    👗 Mewtwo Head - Fancy - Head
You can only use fully evolved Pokémon.
    👗 Victreebel Pear - Fancy - Body + Legs
You must Perma-box any Pokémon who gets poisoned in battle and takes poison damage for at least 1 turn.

    Log
    - Decided to switch the team up and deposited Togedemaru (for the condition), Garchomp, and Machamp. Withdrew Starmie and Magnemite (I caught this at Malie City awhile back), and caught a Jangmo-o. Evolved both Magnemite and Jangmo-o to their final evolutions with Rare Candies before grinding them up
    - Went back to the trial site within Vast Poni Canyon and made it to the Altar of the Moone
    - Performed a duet with Lillie using the two flutes we obtained, doing so allowed Nebby to evolve into a Lunala
    - Lunala opens up a wormhole, which ends up causing Lusamine, Guzma and Necrozma to come out of the portal. Necrozma ends up fusing with Lunala, causing wormholes to appear across the region (while spawning in a bunch of Ultra Beasts).
    - After defeating Necrozma-Dawn Wings it runs off and before stealing the light in our current area. Phyco and Soliera lends us their Solgaleo, allowing us to pursue after Necrozma at the Ultra Megaopolis
    - Dulse and Zossie tell us where Necrozma is and as I reach the top of Megalo Tower, Ultra Necrozma challenges us
    Vs. Ultra Necrozma
The Showcase of the Haunted Costumes - Halloween Event 2021
    • Magnezone takes Photon Geyser and paralyzes Necrozma with Thunder Wave before going down to another Photon Geyser on the following turn
    • Due to some lucky full paralysis, Jellicent is able to land 2 Shadow Balls before going down to Photon Geyser
    • Incineroar barely tanks Dragon Pulse and finishes off Necrozma with Darkest Lariat
    - Necrozma releases the light it stole and separates itself from Lunala and I head back to Alola
    - Everyone says their goodbyes before leaving the area, Mina then shows up and brings us to her house to start the 8th and final trial
    - As soon as the trial starts, Mina immediately challenges us to a battle
    Vs. Mina

    • Magnezone tanks 2 of Mawile's Sucker Punches before taking it down with 2 Thunderbolts
    • Granbull finishes off Magnezone with Earthquake and I send in Mudsdale. Granbull does a pretty big chunk with Play Rough but, it gets OHKOed by Mudsdale's Heavy Slam
    • Mudsdale nearly goes down to Ribombee's Pollen Puff and one-shots it with Heavy Slam
    - Mina hands us the Pink Petal and tells us to go around Alola to find the rest of the petals from the trial captains
    - Flew back to Hau'oli City and headed straight to Hau'oli Cemetery to find Ilima. Once I found him, we both decide to battle each other

    • Smeargle uses a weak Extremespeed and gets OHKOed by Kommo-o's Sky Uppercut
    • I switch in Jellicent to null Komala's Breakneck Blitz but, Komala straight up KOs Jellicent with Wood Hammer the following turn. I send in Magnezone who takes 2 Sucker Punches and finishes Komala off with 2 Thunderbolts
    - After the battle, Ilima hands us the Orange Petal and tells us to go to the Lush Jungle
    - Luckily, Ilima teleports us directly there and I head inside after healing. Met up with Lana and Mallow inside and after a short conversation, Lana challenges us to a battle

    • Lanturn paralyzes Kommo-o with Thunder Wave while Kommo-o attacks with Dragon Claw. Luckily, Kommo-o doesn't get paralyzed, is able to tank 2 Hydro Pumps and takes down Laturn with 2 more Dragon Claws
    • I send in Jellicent on the incoming Cloyster which tanks Icicle Crash very well. After a few annoying flinches from Icicle Crash and Recover usages, Cloyster goes down to 2 Energy Balls
    • Araquanid finishes off Jellicent with Crunch and I send in Magnezone. Magnezone survives Araquanid's Liquidation and does big damage with Thunderbolt while paralyzing it, allowing it to outspeed and finish it off with a 2nd Thunderbolt
    - Lana and Mallow hand us the Blue and Green Petal respectively, afterwards they escort me to the trial site on the peak of Wela Volcano Park
    - After talking to the fill-in Hiker captain, Kiawe promptly shows up and agrees to battle us

    • I swap out Kommo-o for Mudsdale to tank Talonflame's Brave Bird. Mudsdale tanks another Brave Bird and finishes off Talonflame with Rock Slide
    • Musdale survives Marowak-A's Shadow Bone due to prior Stamina boosts and OHKOs it with Earthquake
    - After the very random battle with the Hiker guy, Kiawe hands us the Red Petal and teleports us to the entrance of Hokulani Observatory
    - Witnessed Molayne hand over Hokulani Observatory to Sophocles and afterwards, Sophocles straight up hands us the Yellow Petal and then brings us to the final destination being the Aether House
    - After watching Guzma and Hau interact, I enter the Aether House. Since Acerola has stepped out, Nanu offers to battle us in her place

    • Kommo-o easily sponges Sableye's Dark Pulses (Shadow Ball does nothing due to Bulletproof) and takes it down with 3 Dragon Claws
    • Absol gets a critical hit with Psycho Cut which finishes off Kommo-o. I send in Mudsdale who tanks a critical-hit and a normal Night Slash and takes Absol down with 2 Earthquakes
    • Persian-A takes Mudsdale down with Black Hole Eclipse. I send in Magnezone which knocks out Persian-A with 2 Thunderbolts while barely surviving 2 Dark Pulses
    - Nanu hands us the Purple Petal and I head back to Seafolk Village to complete the trial
    - Handed all 7 Petals to Mina who constructs the Rainbow Flower to summon the Totem Pokemon. After a bit of waiting, Totem Ribombee struts into the house and challenges me to a battle

    • Ribombee gets fully paralyzed and Magnezone chunks it with Flash Cannon, Pelipper boosts its defenses with Stockpile. Next turn, Ribombee uses Quiver Dance and takes another chunk from Flash Cannon as Pelipper uses another Stockpile
    • Magnezone takes Ribombee's Bug Buzz and since Pelipper decides to use Stockpile, Magnezone is able to take down Ribombee with one last Flash Cannon
    • Pelipper finishes off Magnezone with Scald and I send in Kommo-o. Kommo-o finishes off Pelipper with 3 Clanging Scales after tanking a +3-Stockpile Spit Up and Scald
    - With that, the final trial is complete and Mina hands us the Fairium-Z
    - Hapu tells us to meet her on Exeggutor Island to complete the Poni Grand Trial
    - Made my way to the Moon Flute altar and commenced the final grand trial of the game

    • Mudsdale nearly goes down to Starmie's Scald and OHKOs it with Tectonic Rage. Kommo-o then finishes it off with Clanging Scales
    • Flygon uses Dragon Breath as Kommo-o uses Clanging Scales. Next turn, Kommo-o goes down to Dragon Breath and I send in Mudsdale which sponges Earth Power and takes it down with Heavy Slam
    • I swap out Mudsdale for Jellicent to null Muddy Water. Jellicent dodges Gastrodon's Mud Bomb and knocks it out with 2 Energy Balls
    - With that, the final Grand Trial and Part 8 of the run is complete and Hapu hands me the Groudium-Z as a reward
    - Hapu tells us about a brand new final trial up on Mt. Lanakila but, that'll have to wait for the next update
    - Since I followed my conditions with every part covered, I'll receive 10 coins in the end
    - For my clothing purchases, I'll be buying 1x Haute Couture for the Body and 1x Basic Clothing for the Legs, leaving me at a balance of 0 coins

  • The Volt White 2 Spooky Ball (4/8)

Wasn't that long since the last one but I really need to catch up so. . . here's the clothes:
    Spoiler:

After I remembered that Breeders existed, I managed to train up a new team pretty quickly to roughly the same level in order to fit the new rule. Luckily, i already had trained up a Kirlia so the grind was relatively easy.
The new pokemon on the team were:
    -Carmine the Slugma
    -Coral the Shellos
    -Periwinkle the Koffing
    -Tortilla the Stunfisk
    -Plum the Gastly
Once the team was roughly around 25-27, I fought Colress which. . was a fight.

    The 1st Colress Fight-
Colress lead with a Magnemite that fainted pretty quickly to a Discharge, then Mud Shot from Stunfisk
Next was a Metang, which met roughly the same fate with 2 Mud Shots from Stunfisk
Then was the first roadblock, Rotom-Fan. First, I swapped out of Stunfisk to sack Koffing, then into Slugma to get off an ancient power. Slugma fainted so I sent in Kirlia, who managed to take it out after an Air Slash
Oh wow, a second road block! Porygon2 came out next. . . with recover. I'm not even gonna explain the fight between Porygon, just know it took a lot of luck.
Finally, Klink was sent in and died to 2 Mud Shots.

Didn't really have anything to catch in the Desert Resort so I sped through that and Joy Avenue to get to Nimbasa City, making sure to fight a few trainers on the way
More Grinding (I'm starting to see a bit of a trend), I got the party to around level 33 for the gym.
Before fighting the gym, I caught Mulberry the Misdreavus for later on and entered the gym (after the whole roller coaster fiasco)

    The 4th gym Elesa:
I forgot to write down what happened so I don't really remember. All I really remember is Lanturn volt switching a lot. I still won tho soooo. . . 😅

    The team after Elesa:
. . . Not there, they're all being boxed permanently (Thanks, rules)

And that's a wrap, Because I followed the rules and boxed all of my pokemon permanently, i should have. . . an amount (I havent been keeping count). However, I still plan on saving my money and essentially going all out later on

Eleanor's seventh update on Pokémon Ultra Moon

For this update I decided to wear...
👗 Grimmsnarl Hair - Haute Couture - Every Slot
When in battle, when one of your Pokémon is on the field, you can only select the "Fight" option. (No Bag, no Run, no switching unless your Pokémon has fainted).
Grimmsnarl Set (1/1): You get one bonus coin for every level your Pokémon have gained during this segment, up to a maximum of 10 Coins.

My team after beating Kahuna Nanu is...
    Primarina, lv. 54 • Mudsdale, lv. 55 • Magnezone, lv. 54 • Leafeon, lv. 54 • Zoroark, lv. 55 • Archeops, lv. 55.

My Balance now is... 109 🪙! That's 83 + 16 (Haute Couture Item that is a standalone set) + 10 (for the levels my Pokémon have gained).

So... not much changed with my team, it just got stronger in terms of levels but most of the moves and members were already set a while ago... I just got tons and tons of level thanks to all the trainer fights and Vast Poni Canyon... the first place where I decided I needed to buy Repels and avoid the very time consuming task of defeating Sturdy Boldore.
As for fights... yes, Guzma and Lusamine were kinda difficult, but nothing too crazy, and in fact, I don't remember using any particular strategy other than throwing all of my Pokémon at it - especially Archeops and Zoroark, but also Magnezone for good measure. To be fair, other than maybe Leafeon, whose moveset is very limited at the moment, all of my other team members have been doing great!
And now that I defeated Kommo-o with a single click on Moonblast (Primarina is so good, positively surprised) it's time for... you know. That thing. I have some ideas as to how to beat it but you never know how it will go...

Oh, and by the way, no buying clothes, this one is already too good and I've tailored my team around it. I'll just embrace the Scrooge McDuck lifestyle... But if anyone wants to trade, I can make an exception, I think :woop:

    And now let's update :)

    Pokemon Firered - Segment 5

    Clothes used for this segment:
    👗 Persian Gem - Decent - Head
You may not use any Red, Green or Blue Pokémon.
    👗 Tsareena Dress - Decent - Body
You may no longer use Priority moves in battle.
    👗 Mewtwo Boots - Fancy - Legs
You can no longer escape wild battles, nor use any effect that would lower their chance of happening, such as Repels or Intimidate outside of battle.

So I knew the Poison Gym with Koga was next and after my luck with the Victreebel Pear costume last segment, I didn't want to push the risk of getting poisoned. I went a bit easier on the rules this time and it worked out well.

    • After defeating Erica, I went to claim the gift Eevee that is given in the Celadon Department Store and I named it 'Pudding'
    • Using the Thunderstone from the Celadon Department Store, Pudding evolved into Jolteon
    • Headed to the Team Rocket hideout next
    • Without having to worry about getting poisoned, I was able to clear the hideout with no issue and get the Silph Scope from Giovanni!
    • Got the Fly HM and taught it to Farfetch'd
    • Flew to Lavender Town and made my way back to Pokemon Tower, headed to the top and defeated the ghost Marowak
    • Proceeded upstairs and cleared out the Rocket Trainers to get the Pokeflute
    • Defeated the 2 Snorlaxes blocking the paths
    • Flew back to Cerulean City to claim the bike
    • Went to Cycling Road to head down to Fuschia City, there were a lot of trainers here so I had to go back to heal a lot
    • Made it to Fuschia City, decided to clear out the route to the right of it too for extra EXP from trainers
    • Went into the Safari Zone, to follow the rule of not running from wild Pokemon, I would either catch the Pokemon or I had to unwillingly throw rocks at them until the Pokemon fled themselves :(
    • Managed to catch 3 new Pokemon in the safari zone: 'Egg' the Exeggcute, 'Kiwi' the Doduo and 'Taro' the Nidorino
    • Used the Leaf Stone in my bag to evolve 'Egg' into Exeggutor and the moon stone to evolve 'Taro' into Nidoking
    • Boxed Kiwi the Doduo
    • Made it to the Secret House in the Safari Zone and received the 'Surf' TM, taught it to Nidoking
    • Cleared the gym with relatively few issues, mainly used Farfetch'd and Dugtrio
    • Nidoking helped with taking down Koga's Weezing despite being underlevelled as Surf packed a punch
    • Got the 5th gym badge!

    - Gladion leaves and I proceed upwards using the elevator
    - Battled everyone in the first half of Mt. Lanakila (I had a lot of healing items saved up since I'm cheap and would rather backtrack to the PC), and caught Necrozma that was chilling inside a crater
    - Colress shows up and hands us the N-Solarizer and N-Lunarizer to fuse Necrozma with Solgaleo/Lunala and then leaves
    - Battled the remaining trainers and picked up the Icium-Z before reaching the summit of Mt. Lanakila
    - Professor Kukui greets me at the entrance of the brand new Pokemon League. Icineroar also pops out of his Pokeball for a small event which is something I did not expect

    • I swap out Magnezone for Jellicent on a very random Throat Chop (I expected High Jump Kick really but, turns out it doesn't have it). Jellicent then goes down to another Throat Chop and I send in Starmie. Starmie survives Throat Chop and OHKOs Hawlucha with Psychic
    • I send in Magnezone to tank Mandibuzz's Brave Bird. Mandibuzz shows up with Bone Rush which takes down Magnezone (with 2 critical hits) and I send in Mudsdale. After a long-winded battle of Full Restores and confusion (from Flatter), Mandibuzz goes down to a specific number of Rock Slides + Heavy Slams

    • Decidueye comes in and I swap in Incineroar which sponged the incoming Bloom Doom. Decidueye uses Smack Down and gets KOed by Flare Blitz however, the recoil from Flare Blitz knocks out Incineroar as well
    • Hau sends in Tauros and I send in Kommo-o, Kommo-o gets off some damage with Sky Uppercut before going down to 2 Double-Edges. Starmie comes in and Hau heals Tauros with a Full Restore as it goes for Psychic, Tauros then goes for Double-Edge and takes itself out with the recoil
    • I switch out Starmie for Jellicent as Noivern uses Dark Pulse. Jellicent survives the 2nd Dark Pulse and chips with Shadow Ball before going down to another Dark Pulse.
    • Mudsdale survives Dragon Pulse and somehow doesn't finish off Noivern with Rock Slide, allowing Hau to heal it on the next turn. Mudsdale uses Heavy Slam before going down to Dragon Pulse, I send in Magnezone who takes Super Fang and KOs with Flash Cannon
    • Crabominable takes down Magnezone with Power-Up Punch, Starmie ends the battle with Psychic
    - After a very, very narrow victory (3Hp narrow), Hau and Kukui formally congratulate us as the Champion of Alola
    - Once the Hall of Fame scene ends, we all head to Iki Town for a celebration and watch the credits roll
    - Well this has been a fun challenge. I was able to use some Pokemon I've never used before and was able to be more creative with team-building than before (moreso with the additional rules I added on). Thanks for hosting the event!

Eleanor's eight update on Pokémon Ultra Moon

For this update I decided to wear...
👗 Grimmsnarl Hair - Haute Couture - Every Slot
When in battle, when one of your Pokémon is on the field, you can only select the "Fight" option. (No Bag, no Run, no switching unless your Pokémon has fainted).
Grimmsnarl Set (1/1): You get one bonus coin for every level your Pokémon have gained during this segment, up to a maximum of 10 Coins.

My team after beating Kahuna Hapi is...
    Primarina, lv. 58 • Mudsdale, lv. 58 • Magnezone, lv. 58 • Leafeon, lv. 58 • Zoroark, lv. 58 • Archeops, lv. 58.

My Balance now is... 135 🪙! That's 83 + 16 (Haute Couture Item that is a standalone set) + 10 (for the levels my Pokémon have gained).

Wow I'm so creative with my outfits... honestly I'm just going with the most coins I can, I don't think I'll even buy antyhing else :woop: as I said, my team just works well with this ruleset! Well, sort of.

This segment started off strong with the Ultra Necrozma stuff and, needless to say, my team didn't stand a chance. My first attempt, where I basically didn't arrange it correctly, was a super easy wipe out. But luckily, all I needed to do was play around with my Zoroark's Illusion ability. A total godsend, because it turns out that if Zoroark disguises into my Magnezone, Necrozma will keep using Photon Geyser even if it has no effect. And this gives me enough time to knock out Necrozma in just two hits, courtesy of a boosted Punishment that Zoroark just learned. Amazing :woop:

Rika's - excuse me, Mina's series of battles goes pretty well after this. The Z-Moves are scary... but not when you have a full team of 6, where each member is ready to replace any fallen Pokémon. That's mostly how battles go, really: just pick a Pokémon that matches well against that Captain and go for it. Only exception was probably Kawe dealing tons of damage with Arcanine, before the rest of his team would get swept by Zoroark of all things. Nice ♥

And finally, Hapi. Not too hard, let's be real, but I'm mentioning it because I was able to beat it with a Leafeon sweep, and I'm very proud I finally got this Grass type some time in the spotlight. Definitely deserved! I had to use Work Up a few times (evolving Eevee late so that it could get Baton Pass means that Swords Dance can only be obtained through move relearner, apparently) but it worked just fine, thanks to Synthesis. Leafeon's biggest problem is that its only attacking move is Leaf Blade, but obviously that wasn't a problem against Hapi, due to her lack of Gliscor or anything like that.

And like that, I'm now ready for Mount Lanakila! Hopefully I make it by the end of the challenge hehe :wavereep:

    Segment 8
    - Clothes: Eeelektross Costume

    - Since I'm not bound by 8 levels in like forever, I brought back all the cool Pokémon I caught in segment 1 and never got to use after that ;_;

    - Plot was quick and boring. Nothing of note happened.

    vs. Raihan
    - I lead with Gardevoir and Avalugg. Flygon uses a Breaking Swipe for Avalugg (but it hits Gardevoir without hitting due to immunity, so +4 coins) while Gardevoir targets Gigalith and Avalugg KOs Sandaconda.
    - Eventually I just while away at Sandacond and Gigalith - despite Sandaconda being Glare happy, a combination of Cheri berrys and Vikavolt ensured no full pars. Eventually Vikavolt dies at exactly the right turn - right before Duraludon comes in - so I can let Mudsdale in without having to take extra damage (besides rocks).
    - Despite none of his Pokemon being weak to Ice, Raihan focuses on Avalugg instead of Mudsdale (big mistake) which allows Mudsdale to almost destroy Gmax-Duraludon. Thus, Toxapex can come in and do pretty much whatever to Duraludon while Mudsdale can safely kill Gigalith.

Raihan down, +4 coin, no permaboxing this segment.

    Team:
    Spoiler:

I used an Haute Couture set so I should get 8 + 8 coins, plus the 4 coins from Raihan leaving my total at 74 coins.

  • So something has happened which means that I won't be able to participate anymore. I will still spend the coins that I have though, I would like to buy 3 Haute Couture and 4 Decent clothes, one for each body part with an extra on the legs

    Pokemon Firered - Segment 6

    Clothes used this segment:
    👗 Persian Gem - Decent - Head
You may not use any Red, Green or Blue Pokémon.
    👗 Victreebel Pear - Fancy - Body + Legs
You must Perma-box any Pokémon who gets poisoned in battle and takes poison damage for at least 1 turn.

Originally wanted to use the Phantump costume but then I realised there's no pure ghost type in Firered so I decided to go back to the Victreebel Pear costume. This move was not the best idea but it worked out well. :D

    • Headed back to Celadon City to get the tea from the old lady
    • Gave the tea to the guard so I could pass and get to Saffron City
    • Headed up to the Silph Co to clear out Team Rocket
    • Ended up losing Pudding the Jolteon to a Drowzee (who knew Drowzees could use Poison Gas?!) so had to exit the tower and permabox Jolteon
    • Decided to use Nidoking to clear out a lot of trainers to remove risk of random poisoning
    • Defeated Gary who was hiding in the Silph Co towers
    • Received a Lapras as a gift Pokemon from an NPC (not sure if this is in breach of the not using RBG Pokemon rule as I didn't use it and went to box it immediately)
    • Defeated Giovanni with the help of Nidoking and Farfetch'd primarily
    • Went to take on Sabrina for the 6th gym badge
    • I was fearful of the psychic Pokemon having poison moves again so I ended up using Nidoking despite its psychic weakness, thankfully it learnt Megahorn at Lvl 43 so it worked out well!
    • Took down Sabina with combo of Nidoking + Farfetch'd to get the 6th gym badge!

    Team + badge proof:
    Spoiler:

I guess I will try another 5 coins on a new head item and hope for the best :D But to finish the challenge in time, will probably stick with these rules for the next segment too I think \o/

Eleanor's final update on Pokémon Ultra Moon

For this update I decided to wear...
👗 Grimmsnarl Hair - Haute Couture - Every Slot
When in battle, when one of your Pokémon is on the field, you can only select the "Fight" option. (No Bag, no Run, no switching unless your Pokémon has fainted).
Grimmsnarl Set (1/1): You get one bonus coin for every level your Pokémon have gained during this segment, up to a maximum of 10 Coins.

My team after beating Hau is...
    Primarina, lv. 62 @ Primarinium Z
Sparkling Aria, Ice Beam, Moonblast, Shadow Ball
Mudsdale, lv. 62 @ Quick Claw
    Earthquake, Toxic, Heavy Slam, Superpower
    Magnezone, lv. 63 @ Steelium Z
Flash Cannon, Discharge, Thunder Wave, Volt Switch
    Leafeon, lv. 63 @ Normalium Z
Swords Dance, Baton Pass, Synthesis, Leaf Blade
    Zoroark, lv. 64 @ Darkinium Z
Night Daze, Nasty Plot, Flamethrower, U-Turn
    Archeops, lv. 64 @ nothing
Rock Slide, Acrobatics, Dragon Claw, U-Turn

My Balance now is... 161 🪙! That's 135 + 16 (Haute Couture Item that is a standalone set) + 10 (for the levels my Pokémon have gained).

And like that the challenge is over :)

This segment started off with Gladion, who was easy enough with the help of Archeops. I then quickly went through Mount Lanakila, where I got the Glacium Z and the ever so important Ice Beam TM, and skipped Necrozma altogether. Maybe another time! Once I reached the Pokémon Center at the end, I did a few Heart Scale trades and made the final changes to my Pokémon's movesets, but... it wasn't really needed, except for things like Superpower on Mudsdale: it just made me feel more prepared, if that's a thing :woop:

Against the Elite 4, I first went up against Acerola, and that was a very clean Zoroark sweep - no need to U-Turn out of anything, nothing to really mention... Zoroark is too strong! Surprisingly, she didn't have a Mimikyu, and that made it so much easier.
I then challenged Kahili, and she gave me a bit more trouble. Magnezone took care of Braviary and Hawlucha (for some reason it never used Flying Press) but Mandibuzz knocked it out with Bone Rush, so I had to send in Primarina, who later succumbed to Toucannon's Z Move. Once that was done though, Archeops could come in and seal the deal with some Rock Slides.
Olivia was a bit more tricky because I found myself starting with Leafeon against her Armaldo. Not a good lead, so I switched into Primarina, who did his job but was eventually worn down by Cradily. Not a good match up for poor Leafeon either, so I sent in Magnezone for the Flash Cannon. That worked, but when Probopass switched in, I decided to switch right into Mudsdale via Volt Switch. Mudsdale has no move that allows her to switch herself out, and she happened to stay in for the rest of the battle, taking care of all of Olivia's remaining Pokémon with Earthquake (for some reason, Lycanroc never used its Z Move).
Finally, Morley. Klefki came in against Zoroark, who used Nasty Plot against Spikes and then promptly took his opponent out with Flamethrower. The same destiny was met by Metagross, Dugtrio and Bisharp, before I'd send in Mudsdale against Magnezone.

Now against Hau! Raichu was an easy kill for Zoroark, and the same was actually true for Crabominable (thanks to Flamethrower), but Tauros proved to be much too resilient, and took out my Dark-type. After a few switches and mistakes on my part (sorry Mudsdale) I dealt with it with Archeops... but Incineroar, Hau's next Pokémon, brought Archeops down to Defeatist range with his Z Move, and rendered it useless. I decided to switch out into Primarina, eventually knocking down the other starter, and Hau sent in Leafeon...
Luckily, Leafeon wasn't strong enough to take out Primarina, and got defeated with a single Ice Beam. The same happened to Hau's last Pokémon, Noivern, winning me the battle.

So... the Pokémon I used, right?
Let's start from the obvious: Zoroark was absolutely invaluable. Definitely the MVP of this run, although I'll admit that is mostly because of its blistering Speed. I decided I wouldn't use it at first, because the Tsareena Crown I was using would prevent me from using Zoroark, but once I got the Grimmsnarl thingy, nothing could stop this Pokémon. The disguise was also extremely important for battles such as Ultra Necrozma, and I definitely owe it to this Pokémon for getting this far.
Archeops was not exactly as good and unpredictable, and had a few more glaring weaknesses. It was harder to switch him into the battle if the previous Pokémon, for example, used U-Turn before its opponent could attack, and priority moves were dangerous... but the sheer power this Pokémon has surely makes up for it. Maybe not as useful against strong trainers and "boss battles", so to speak, but definitely the bane of every other random trainer on a route.
Primarina was extremely useful at first, but ended up being a bit on the slow side (and frail on the physical side too) later on... nonetheless, his typing was amazing to have, and his last performance against Hau vehemently brought him back into the spotlight.
Mudsdale, the other Pokémon on my team who effectively had a Mean Look debuff when it was brought in, was also very slow compared to most opponents, but very hard to take out without the correct move, and this helped a lot against many different trainers! Her attack was also very high, almost like Archeops's, another very useful point in her favor.
Magnezone... I really didn't use it much in the end, but it was very useful at first! It may not be that fun to use but it's a very safe Pokémon to fall back onto when things don't go as planned, and a perfect Disguise for Zoroark apparently.
And finally, Leafeon. I wanted this Pokémon to be great, I really did, but... other than Baton Pass, this Pokémon couldn't really cut it. I'm very sad to say this but with its current moveset and TM availability, Leafeon still felt just too one-dimensional. Gen 8 fixed that, undoubtedly, but here, I could really only justify using this Pokémon in very specific situations (Hapi), and that's a big shame... also because even Hau had one! I'm still very happy that I got the chance to try it out though, it's been a very interesting experience to still fit this Pokémon on my team and find out ways to make it work. And against the occasional Water/Ground types... this thing is still very much needed.

Overall, I had fun with this challenge, even if the playstyle I ended up aiming for was totally not what I thought I'd do at first. Blame that Grimmsnarl thing... I never finished Ultra Moon before, and this was a great opportunity to try the game out (finally) and with it, lots of new Pokémon I had never used before. :woop:

    SEGMENT 2

I decided to wear Glalie Ball again.

Since I have about 48 hours to finish this event, I'll make this quick. It took me about 5 in-game hours and almost 20 irl days to get to Cyllage City. This part drags so much. It usually takes me about 20 hours to beat Y. And I got to Cyllage City with almost 7 hours of a played time. 1/4 of the game is just getting to Cyllage City.

Anyway, I picked up Squirtle from Sycamore, caught some more Pokémon like Smeargle, Flabébé, Mienfoo, Honedge, Cubone and Spritzee, just to have some more variety for later. And I got Tyrunt from fossil.

Squirtle evolved and together with Tyrunt beat Grant's Pokémon. For once, Grant wasn't a huge obstacle in my run.

That's all for now, I'm in rush to beat the event on time.

    Final Segment
    - Clothes: Eelektross Costume

    vs. Marnie
    - Liepard didn't lead with Torment, letting Gardevoir get a Calm Mind and then kill 3/5 of her team.
    - Mudslade dealt with Morpeko and Drapion dealt with Grimmsnarl - didn't even need to Dynamax, lol.

    vs. Hop
    - Toxapex set up two layers of Toxic Spikes and got Dubwool poisoned.
    - I was going to sacrifice it but it managed to kill Dubwool, lol.
    - Ferrothorn came in and setup, and more or less swept.
The one thing of note was that Pincurchin managed to get a Thunderbolt paralysis, but Corviknight's Swagger game a smack so I didn't have to permabox Ferrothorn, lol.

    --- Plot Interruption ---

Mostly your usual pivoting and killing in a few hits. Nothing of note really happened here.

    vs. Bede
    - Mudsdale killed Mawile.
    - Drapion killed Gardevoir, Rapidash and wounded Hatterente.
    - Mudsdale finished the job.

    vs. Nessa
    - Vikavolt killed everything except Dreadnaw.
    - Toxapex came in to stall the Dynamax and then just kinda ended up killing Dreadnaw.

    vs. Bea
    - Vikavolt dealt with Hawlucha.
    - Choice Scarf Gardevoir swept the rest, until Machamp which survived via Gmax and revenge killed.
    - Toxapex came in to stall the Dynamax and then just kinda ended up killing Machamp.

    vs. Raihan
    - Mudsdale dealt with Torkoal
    - Choice Scarf Gardevoir killed Goodra and Turtonator due to some ... questionable AI decisions, as well as almost kill Flygon.
    - Ferrothorn came in, set up on Flygon and then swept.

    --- Plot Interruption ---

Jesus Christ, this is a long segment. Rose was easy, Eternatus even more so. Eternamax was ... actually a bit of a challenge.

    vs. Champion Leon
    - Mudsdale killed Aegislash with a crit EQ.
    - Ferrothorn killed Seismitoad with a Power Whip.
    - Toxapex set up Toxic Spikes and whittled down Cinderace.
    - Gardevoir came in to deal with Haxorus, but not even Choice Scarf was enough to outspeed, so he died.
    - Ferrothorn came in in its place and killed Haxorus but Dragapult had Flamethrower and killed it.
    - Drapion came in to deal with Dragapult.
    - Mudsdale comes in, Dynamaxes and uses Max Rockfall to wound Charizard.
    - Then he Max Guards to stall the last Gigantamax turn and uses Max Rockfall again.
    - Charizard faints, Champion Leon has lost.

    GAME END

    Spoiler:

I wore an Haute Couture set, so I get 8 + 8 coins, leaving my final balance at a round 90 coins.

This challenge was interesting I guess, personally I'm not much of a fan of luck based rules or of shifting rules so my meta was basically find an easy and profitable challenge and stick with it, which I guess was more or less what other people did.

I also think that some of these rules are pretty much free money (Eelektross, Victreebel Body + Legs and Delphox Legs to name a few), which might have been the intention, I don't know.

I guess it served as an incentive to play Sword (who was gathering dust in my library) and frankly, despite a lot of problems it's actually a pretty decent Pokémon game.

Either way, thanks for hosting the event.

  • Yet another Halloween Event in Pokémon Y

The Showcase of the Haunted Costumes - Halloween Event 2021
The Showcase of the Haunted Costumes - Halloween Event 2021

    SEGMENT 3 & 4

Since I got Phantump's costume, I decided to wear it for segment 3. For some reason I though I can get Shuppet after beating Korrina, so I did not follow any rules for segment 3. That's why I also added segment 4.

I picked up Spritzee from the PC and evolved it. It became my main Pokémon for this segment. I beat almost everything with him. And luckily, there were bunch of Fighting-type trainers everywhere, so I had smooth leveling journey.

After I beat Korrina, I found out there is no Shuppet in Azure Bay. Actually, there are no pure Ghost-type Pokémon at all. So I put down Phantump's costume and put Bisharp Helmet and Jynx Dress on. Meaning I could only use Braixen and Fletchinder. And they couldn't faint.

I almost wiped on random trainer with Miltank, but otherwise, this was pretty short and easy segment. Especially once Braixen evolved into Delphox and Fletchinder into Talonflame.

If I counted everything right, I should have 10 coins. I'll buy Decent Body, Head and Legs, leaving me with 1 coin.

Pokemon Firered - Segment 7, 8 and END

So I finished the challenge somehow! I didn't think I was going to make it within the time limit as I did the last 3 segments in the past 1-2 days. But a combo of ignoring pending assignments + deciding to overinvest in one Pokemon (Farfetch'd) meant that I finished in time. :D

Will do my best to remember what happened each segment. Going to try write it in text form this time rather than a bullet point list.

    Segment 7

    Rules for this segment:
    👗 Chimecho Bell - Fancy - Head + Body
You can only use Pokémon lighter than 110.2 lbs (50 kg).
    👗 Mewtwo Boots - Fancy - Legs
You can no longer escape wild battles, nor use any effect that would lower their chance of happening, such as Repels or Intimidate outside of battle.

I decided to go with this set so I could have a full fancy set for once! Before starting, I looked up a list of Pokemon that fit the weight criteria. Out of my existing team from last segment, I could only use Farfetch'd and Dugtrio so I said goodbye to Nidoking and Exeggutor, boxing them for this segment.

I realised VERY quickly that I would need some other Pokemon to round out my team as certain type matchups didn't look too hot for my team. I picked up the free Hitmonlee from Saffron City as it was just under the weight cutoff and proceeded to call it Lychee. Then I went over the list of other lightweight Pokemon and realised Gastly was also on the list. I had missed it before at Lavender Tower but decided to pick one up and called it Grape.

It was then time to head to Cinnabar Island! But I didn't have anything to surf on within my current party. I remembered that I had a Squirtle and with the 'no RBG pokemon' rule no longer in place, proceeded to take out my boxed Squirtle as a HM slave. After getting stopped a lot by passing swimmers to battle, I made it to Cinnabar Island in one piece and decided to restore the Dome Fossil I had received earlier in the story. I was prepared to get a Lvl 25 Pokemon when it revived like other gift Pokemon but it was lvl 5. Still Kabuto and Kabutops have always been Pokemon I'd love to use so I decided I'd bear with it. I called it Cocoa, in line with my other food nicknames. Squirtle immediately went back into the box never to be seen again, now with a new surfer.

I headed to the Pokemon Mansion so I could get the Secret Key and almost died several times from all the wild Pokemon. I forgot how the mansion worked. It took me a long time to remember that you had to interact with the statues and even then, I would get lost and the statues would reset. I made it to the basement and got the key but before leaving, I decided to do some levelling up for my lvl 15~30 Pokemon. I gave up when it got tedious and decided I would just use Farfetch'd to take on Blaine.

Luckily this strategy went well! I decided to fight all the super nerds instead of taking them on in the quizzes because that seemed like the better solution. Blaine himself was an OK fight with the help of Farfetch'd and Dugtrio. The Arcanine did give me trouble but it was taken down and I earned the 7th gym badge, ending this segment.

    Segment 8

    Rules for this segment:
    👗 Chimecho Bell - Fancy - Head + Body
You can only use Pokémon lighter than 110.2 lbs (50 kg).
    👗 Mewtwo Boots - Fancy - Legs
You can no longer escape wild battles, nor use any effect that would lower their chance of happening, such as Repels or Intimidate outside of battle.

I can't remember which segment the One Island, Two Island and Three Island quests belonged to but I'll put them within Segment 8 as I was using the same rules for Segment 7 to 8. Maybe it was before the Pokemon Mansion part of last segment but I'm not sure? So I got a request from Bill to head over to One Island and I proceeded there. After delivering the meteorite to the man in the Game Corner on Two Island, I had to go find Lostelle who turned out to be lost within a forest. The Islands were relatively straightforward and I got HM Rock Smash whilst I was there. I also decided to catch an Oddish whilst I was there as another member that fit the 'weight' criteria and very creatively called it Mushroom. After heading back, I realised I had somehow missed getting HM Strength and flew back to Fuschia City to get it from the warden as a reward for returning his gold teeth.

I decided then that it was too much effort to raise the low level Pokemon and ambitiously went onto take Giovanni with my Farfetch'd who again, had little difficulties. With Pokemon like Onix, my Kabuto despite being super underlevelled was able to take them out with Surf + Dugtrio also chipped in again. And with that I had beat all the gyms and got the 8th gym badge!

    End Segment

    Rules used for this segment:
    👗 Persian Gem - Decent - Head
You may not use any Red, Green or Blue Pokémon.
    👗 Victreebel Pear - Fancy - Body + Legs
You must Perma-box any Pokémon who gets poisoned in battle and takes poison damage for at least 1 turn.

It was now time for the Pokemon League! In my mind I thought that raising my party evenly to be around the League Levels (~50) would take too long, given how low a lot of my Pokemon were and also the fact I had no EXP share to make the process less tedious. So I decided to bring back the Victreebel Pear rule which was a risk. But since I no longer had to use lightweight Pokemon, I could bring back Nidoking and Exeggutor for this segment who both proved to be helpful with the final League battles.

I headed over to the Victory Road entrance before being stopped by Gary. I had totally forgotten that he had a fight before Victory Road but luckily was able to switch into Farfetch'd who took them out. With Pokemon like Venusaur where I couldn't remember if they had the ability to poison, I brought in Nidoking to protect Farfetch'd. I was able to take Gary down and proceeded to Victory Road. Victory Road was... an experience. I didn't remember the format of the FRLG Victory Road and whilst the strength Puzzles were clear on the surface, I got tripped up by the one where you were to push the boulder through a hole in the ground to solve the last puzzle. I somehow missed the first time around after jumping down, the switch I was to push the fallen boulder onto. So then I left the floor and that reset everything. This went in circles for at least an hour or two before I finally figured out I was on the right track the first time.

After that I managed to get out but not before doing some training for Nidoking and Farfetch'd. I was worried that only having two decently levelled Pokemon might be a surefire way to lose but I wanted to try finish the challenge if I could so I took the risk. I stocked up on Full Restores and Revives from the Pokemart then it was time.

Lorelei was one of the more difficult, given that my team was susceptible to water/ice. Somehow with the brute force of Nidoking and Farfetch'd I managed to push through, with the help of Full Restores, Revives and using a lot of sacrificial Pokemon to help revive on specific turns. Bruno turned out to be much easier. Despite Exeggutor being super underlevelled, Giga Drain did a LOT of damage and was able to take out both Onix that Bruno had. The fighting Pokemon were swept by Farfetch'd using Fly.

Now Agatha.. was dangerous as despite being the ghost E4, she was also a poison monotype team. If I lost Farfetch'd here, there would be no guarantee I'd be able to win the rest of the League. So I mostly used Nidoking in this battle and rotated to other Pokemon when I needed to heal, as Nidoking could provide poison immunity + coverage with Earthquake. Golbat was probably the most painful to take out and I did risk bringing Farfetch'd in once or twice when Nidoking was put to sleep by Hypnosis by the Gengar/Haunters. Since the AI would likely use Dream Eater or Nightmare, I took those turns to bring Farfetch'd in and won! Lastly, Lance. Dragon types are always super powerful but I was able to avoid the brunt of Outrage/force confusion by dodging Outrage spams using Fly. Taking out Lance felt easier than Agatha.

The last battle for the segment was Champion Gary! Before entering, I decided to use the rest of the rare candies I had accumulated throughout my journey (5 of them) to boost Farfetch'd into the Lvl 70s for the final advantage it needed in battle. Farfetch'd was able to take out most of the Pokemon with the help of Full Restores to sustain its health. I also brought in Nidoking for Pokemon like Arcanine. The battle itself went well considering I only relied on those two in the end for the champion battle. And then I had won and it was time to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

This was a fun challenge and whilst I could have used my coins/costumes a lot better, I enjoyed it! Farfetch'd was the MVP by far and I liked having to switch around my team a lot to adapt as I got to try out a lot of new Pokemon I otherwise wouldn't have. You can see how under levelled the rest of my team is, hahahah.

But that ends it for now. Not too sure of the final coin balance but happy w/ making it to the end!

Here are the final team photos + hall of fame:
