4th Gen The Sinnoh Pokedex

Let's admit that the Sinnoh Pokedex was really bad until Platinum came around.

D/P Pokedex:

-Had only two fire type lines: Chimchar & Ponyta.
-Had only three Electric type lines: Shinx, Pachirisu, Pikachu.
-Had only two Ice type lines: Sneasel and Snover.
-Only had 151 Pokemon in the Pokedex at all.

This meant that Flint, Volkner and Candice had very little Pokemon that actually had to do with their types. Like Volkner having an Ambipom and OCTILLERY on his team. This also meant there was quite a lack of Pokemon to be found in the wild.

This is why I can never recommend Diamond/Pearl and would tell people to play Platinum instead. The pokedex is just so much better. Tbh, I've never understood why D/P's Pokedex was 151, probably just to mimic Kanto. Hopefully, a remake will have the 210 version so Flint doesn't have a bad team again.

yep, that's why I always use and recommend chimchar always. the lack of fire types is extremely frustrating since, for me, they're essential especially because there's so much steel and grass

Apart from the lack of fire types I never thought of DPPt's Pokedex as particularly bad...certainly not when compared to BW's or RS's. It seems to be the nature of Gens III-V that the first games in those series have less complete regional dexes than one would like.

I never played Diamond or Pearl so I didn't know Volkner used an Octillery. That's sort of hilarious to me.

That said the weird thing about Sinnoh is they offer good team options early...but that's it. You can get Starly, Shinx, and all the starters are pretty good but there's not much room to be unique. I tried to use Kricketot and it was okay.
