Travis felt Kaki's hand brush his cheek and came close to doing something he'd never thought he would do.
"Hey, Ryota, why is it that Pokemon always fall over and go to sleep when they get hurt?" The young Travis asked his Zangoose "brother".
<Um...> Ryota began, scratching his head, <It's not really going to sleep. We just get really tired, so we faint.>
"What's it like to faint?"
Ryota was caught off-guard. <Umm... I'm not really all that sure, since I don't lose too often, you know?
Travis nodded. Aniki was tough. There was no way he could lose.
<But when I do faint, it doesn't really feel like much. I just blank out.> Ryota continued.
"But if you don't lose, why did you faint?" Travis asked innocently.
<Um... I was kind of falling head over heels for this one girl, and- oh, you wouldn't understand.>
"Tell me!"
<Fine... I was really, like, super-crazy about her, and one day- now don't laugh- I got hurt, and she came over to ask me if I was alright, and I just sort of- fainted.>
"That's a dumb reason for you to faint, Aniki."
<Laugh all you want, it may happen to you someday.>
"Yeah, right."
"Za..." Travis murmured softly, carefully bringing his hand up to where Kaki's rested on his cheek. As she mouthed "Are you OK" to him, he couldn't help the feeling that this, this, feeling inside of him was like nothing he had ever experienced. Ever. He began to mouth back "I'm fine", but something stopped him. It was the moment he had been waiting for. Without warning, he leaned in and kissed.
It was over in a moment, nothing drawn out, just a quick, over-in-a-moment kiss. That was all. He drew back almost immediately, his face red as a turnip. He hadn't meant to do that, he knew. His body had almost acted on its own. He forced himself to resist the urge to apologize.
OOC: I'm definitely pathetic. Sixteen years, and I'm already attempting to write a "first kiss" scenario with no prior experience. Meh.
