The Tales of Series Fan Club

No problem! It might be a while because I've been a little busy lately, but I'll definitely do it. Personally I prefer Sheena, but... Colette's neat too. xD Me and a friend of mine have this thing where I'm Lloyd, she's Colette, and our "son" is Karol from ToV.

Haha, that sounds like something me and my friend would do. :D But like I said, it's hard for me to choose between those two. I play Colette in something, so I kinda connect with her (that sounds so dumb ._.), but Sheena is awesome too, and I get tired of Colette being in EVERY SINGLE SCENE in Symphonia. One playthrough I did everything I could to make Colette hate me, and she was STILL in my top 3 closest characters. It was annoying. ><

But Sheena and Kratos were at the top, so yay ^^

I know what you mean, the first impression for me was, oh cool anime-style opening and cutscenes, then the battle system it was very unique, very dynamic, you move at will in the battle, but still you can use commands, the skits, and many more elements.

That's exactly what I thought when I rented Symphonia. I thought it would be a typical Final-Fanasty-esqe RPG with some anime cutscenes thrown in there. But I fell in love with the battle system and the skits, it makes the series much more enjoyable to me. :D

Oh, by the way.. does anyone know if Tales of Graces is going to be coming out in the US? I really want another title on the Wii, so..

Bump!

I sure hope it gets released here though. ^^ And I'm so happy, BoA sings the theme! (I think..) So if it is brought here, I hope they won't just redo the whole opening song, since BoA sings in English as well. I love BoA, so I'd love it if they kept her =D

Also, random but.. am I the only girl in this club? xD;

Ah, I didn't even notice that Ink was a girl! ;; *smacked by tree*
xD; I don't know why, but I've just been assuming people with guys for their icons are guys. Wow, I'm dumb. I'm sorry!!

ANYWAY! Yeah, I forgot about the Vesperia opening. ^^; I wish I could play it, but I don't have a 360 OR a PS3. My boyfriend has a 360, but he won't buy the game for me. And I'm jobless. D: But yay, that makes it even more likely that BoA will make an English adaption~! :3

Haha, no, it's fine. xD You have no idea how many times I mix up genders over the Internet, especially because of icons. And I am a bit of a tomboy, so~

Haha, yeah, I don't have a 360 either. xD My only current-gen system is my DS, I just have a lot of generous friends who lend me their consoles.
And I heard a rumour the other day about the PS3 Vesperia port coming to NA. Apparently Troy Baker, Yuri's (totally awesome) voice actor, said something about being back in the recording studio.

Sorry I haven't been around to post, guys. Lots of drama going on... >>

Where did you hear this? Was it on his site? I hope it's true. I sold my 360 version, and I'm hoping to buy the PS3 version if released here.
Not sure, a trusted friend of mine told me about it. Google might have some answers, but yeah, I think it's just a rumour. Always nice to have some hope though. xD

O_O
I must join this. Tales FTW!

Also, the thing about Troy Baker saying that about being called back to record more lines is a rumor. All we have to go on is some random person's word that he asked Troy Baker about it and that's the response he got.

....although I have my fingers crossed that it's true >_> I've been wanting to play ToV for awhile, but I'd hate to pay for a 360(which I don't really like the idea of getting one in the first place) and then the PS3 version come out(which Namco would be kind of dumb not to- the PS3 lacks RPGs in the U.S., so it's a huge marketing opportunity...then again, it's Namco >_>)

I've heard this rumor too. If it's true, he's gonna be voicing for either ToV PS3, ToW: RD2, or ToVS. I'd like to see either of the three personally. :D

Saaaame, although I'd kill to have ToVS released here. I really don't see why they wouldn't, it just seems stupid...

I think ToVS. is most likely. Funny, because I remembered that Troy voices Regal now too and I thought he may be voicing him for something instead, but he's not in any of the upcoming games. Poor Regal. D:

..I really wish I could play Vesperia now. D:
Everyone talking about it makes me really want to play it! Well.. maybe for Christmas I'll get lucky =)

Umm.. everyone probably knows this, about ToVS but "Namco Bandai has already filed a trademark for Tales of VS. in America, increasing its chances of a North American release, unlike its previous counterpart in the Tales Series, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2."
So yay!! Buuuuuut I don't have a PSP either D:

I feel like I've heard that somewhere before, but in any case, YES. I don't have a PSP either, I'm just counting on getting one for my birthday this month. xD

You should try out Radiant Mythology too, it's pretty fun. I wish Radiant Mythology 2 would get localized as well.

You don't mind if I join? I'm not a regular to the series (as I really only exposed myself to it over this summer) but the games I've played (ToS and TotA) are of great quality.

Personally, I felt that most of the characters in TotA had some serious flaws that outweighed their good (For example, Luke was an all around whiney ass loser, Anise was far one tracked, Tear was... Tear..., Natalia was way too much of a "goody-two shoes" and Asch was overly aggressive). However, I really ended up liking how their personalities intertwined and since Jade and Guy were there to offset the otherwise very negative cast, it was a great set of characters. Of course, I could get into the God Generals and all that fun jargon at Daath or between Kimlasca and Malkuth (spelling?), but I don't have the time to write an essay on TotA, XD

ToS... haven't finished it, been too busy lately. I LOVE IT THOUGH AND I SHOULD REALLY REARRANGE MY SCHEDULE. Colette, despite being dolthead of the universe, is my favourite character, and I can associate with her (except for her blatant stupidity sometimes >_>). I like the main cast as well, but they're the real opposite of TotA - mainly positive, with characters with great traits and one or two minor negative ones. And what's all this about how Kratos is so amazing? He's possibly the most wishy-washy character I've ever come across... MITHOS JOINED PETA AND DECIDED TO KILL ALL THE PEOPLE AND OR ELVES BECAUSE THAT WOULD STOP DISCRIMINATION AGAINST ANIMALS.

True story, you know.

I found Guy to be one of the most depressing characters in the game, honestly. o_O; He had an upbeat personality but maaaan his past just made you want to angst. Actually, most of them made you want to angst. XD; It's still my favourite cast of the games I've played, though, since the characters just meshed so well together and unlike Symphonia, they weren't trying to juggle too many characters in the spotlight so no one got pushed to the side in favour of development for another character.

I loved both Guy and Jade. They were both characters that went through horrible moments in their lives and yet overcame it and became better people because of it. Luke just became a whiny-ass loser, Tear and Anise showed no real development (even though Anise was lulz) and Natalia seemed like a suckup throughout the whole game as well.

Speaking of which, not this year, but next year I'm going to Youmacon as Jade (because I share a strong affinity to his appearance) and my sister is going as Guy :33333

I also liked the God Generals, except for Sync (he looks so much cooler than he really is >_>) and Legretta (something about her really irked me). Also, Grand Chokmah > Baticul. I hated going to Baticul so much - it was so plain and boring, while Grand Chokmah looked like a place I'd want to go to.

Tales of the Abyss had a perfect mesh of characters, none were ignored, none didn't have their share of glory. It's the only Tales game where I liked every character, and its main character is my favorite Tales protagonist of all time.

Seriously, as much as I adore Symphonia, it did the cast all wrong relevance-wise. Lloyd, Colette, Kratos, and maybe Sheena or Raine were the only characters that had any major impact on the story. Genis, Zelos, Regal and Presea were just sort of... there. They really didn't get any of the attention they deserved. The only sort of development they got were interactions with the main character (affection system), which I didn't like much, though it did work for Zelos I guess.

I didn't mind Zelos quite so much--it would've been nicer if he hadn't been carbon copy of Kratos with a different personality slapped on--but plotwise he worked well enough. But Regal, Presea and Genis were just... there. It really didn't help that for most of the game, Presea has the personality of a brick wall and Regal wasn't far behind. :/ I love all the characters in that game but some would've been far better as minor characters. They tried to give everyone a lot of backstory when there just wasn't enough room for the whole party of 8 characters to get that backstory.

Seriously, Yuan was a good character--they gave him some development, he was vital to the story, and he was an NPC so the fact that he wasn't always around actually worked to his benefit. (You weren't constantly seeing him in the party going, "just what's the deal with you??") I think a few of the characters could've been demoted to that status with no real harm to the plot. D:

Besides it's much harder to get attached to characters when so many are fighting for your affection, so to speak. ><; I love the party cast of Abyss to pieces because there were only 6 and it was easy to keep track of them all. Everyone gets a chance to shine and that helps immensely. The characters who didn't get the same amount of attention were basically all NPCs so it didn't seem dreadfully out of place for some of them to have more spotlight than others but the party was always the main focus.

:( I'm really iffy about Tales of Vesperia on PS3 because they added another character. I thought the party already went together fairly well (albeit they don't click the way the Abyss cast did for me) so tossing in an arbitrary loli just seems... well, I can't imagine how she won't seem out of place. D:

Yay for Tales! I Mind if I join?

I just got the last game I was missing from my collection the other day, so yay! My favorites are Abyss and Knight of Ratatosk. Other nominees are Symphonia and Rebirth. I'm really looking forward Graces.

Hee hee, yesterday I went to a con and there were so many Talesplayers... two Jades, two Guys, two Lloyds, two Sheenas, lots of others, some I can't even remember... I'll get pics when they get posted XD
