Then I taught thunderbolt to Hecate the Misdreavus.
Also I bought Focus Blast and taught it to Kage the Gengar.

Ultimate Normal Monotype Challenge: Blue Version

So, I picked Charmander as my starter for this challenge, meaning my rival will be challenging me with Squirtle throughout my journey. As soon as I could, I caught a Rattata (my least favorite Pokemon of all time, but it wouldn't be right to do a Normal Mono without using the game's starting rodent) and named it Mizune, after the Soul Eater witches of the same name. I went the course smoothly until I reached Pewter City.

Brock proved difficult upon my first challenge, when I was level 11. I wound up grinding 3 more levels and learning Hyper Fang before I finally pulled it off, earning me my first gym badge of the challenge!

-Got the S.S. Ticket from Elm.
-Met with Professor Oak in Olivine City and got the National Dex.
-Took Fast Ship S.S. Aqua into the Kanto region.
-Arrived in Vermilion City.
-Took on the Gym trainers. They were all pathetically easy (well not necessarily, two of them fought me in a Double Battle and it took a little while since I couldn't use Earthquake, but they hardly did anything to me in the meantime).
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Lt. Surge!

Vermilion Gym overview:

He starts off with Raichu while I open with Gareth. He uses Double Team like a loser, while I hit with Earth Power and kill him in one hit.
Next up is one of his Electrodes. He uses Screech, but I kill that in one hit with Earth Power also.
After that is Magneton. Earth Power. Gone. Next!
Following is Electabuzz. He's faster and uses Light Screen, unfortunately, so Earth Power does just over half, but his Sitrus Berry activates. Him: 70% or so HP. I switch out for Lionel as he uses Quick Attack for hardly anything. Me: 146/167 HP. I kill him with Earthquake.
Finally is his other Electrode. He uses Double Team, but I hit through it and kill him with Earthquake, ending the battle.
Yeah, I didn't think anyone thought this would be hard, either. The only concern was Double Team, which could have gotten very annoying. Thankfully, it didn't.

-Went up Route 6 and arrived in Saffron City.
-Went through Route 8 and arrived in Lavender Town.
-Beat the trainers on Route 10 then went up Route 5.
-Arrived in Cerulean City.
-Went up Nugget Bridge and beat the trainers there.
-Beat the trainers on Route 9 and went through Route 10 to the Power Plant.
-Discovered that the generator is broken.
-Found the Rocket Grunt with the Machine Part, beat him and found the part.
-Returned the Machine Part to the Manager.
-Found Misty on Nugget Bridge.
-Got a Focus Sash from Mom's savings.
-Went to New Bark Town and stopped having Mom save my money.
-Beat the trainers in the Saffron Gym.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Sabrina!

She starts off with Espeon while I open with Lionel. I use Earthquake, which kills her in one hit with a critical hit on the first usage of the move. Ooooooooh! That's a good sign.
Next up is her ace, Alakazam. I use Earthquake again, but she lives, and her Sitrus Berry activates and she uses Reflect, ugh. Her: 1/3 or so HP. Despite that, I use Earthquake again and still finish her off. Lionel grows to Level 51 after that.
Finally is Mr. Mime. I stay in and use Earthquake, just to see how much it will do, and it unfortunately does less than half, as she uses Light Screen. Her: 60% or so HP. I switch out for Arcana as she uses Psychic, but it unfortunately does more than half. Me: 77/168 HP. Yeah, that's not gonna work out. I stay in and let Arcana die to another Psychic, just so I can stall for time for the Reflect to wear off - which it does right then. I bring in Lionel and finish her with one more Earthquake, ending the battle.
"Lionel seems very happy!" That's what it said when I talked to him after winning. He must have felt so energetic which explains that critical hit on Espeon. See why Mamoswine is one of my favorite Pokémon ever? :P Then again, there wouldn't have been that much for her to do except Psychic (which might have hit reasonably hard). And while sacrificing Arcana to Mr. Mime wasn't that necessary, I didn't expect her to do more than half, but it got the Reflect out of the way, so it worked pretty well.

-Was called by Baoba to come to the Safari Zone to check out Object Arrangement.
-Flew over to the Safari Zone and learned more about Object Arrangement.
-Unfortunately, I don't have the Peak objects, so I can't get Hippopotas yet.
-Put Maleagant the Rhyhorn in the Daycare.
-Went back to the Cerulean Gym and soloed all the trainers with Gareth.
-Took on the Gym Leader, Misty!

She starts off with Golduck while I open with Arcana. She uses Water Pulse, but Water Absorb makes it useless. :P I hit her with Earthquake for what looks like exactly half. Her: 50% or so HP. She uses Disable - good timing, because I use Mud Shot just to be safe (read: try to not get her to where she'll heal). Her: 30% or so HP and -1 Speed. She uses Disable again, and Mud Shot gets disabled, but no matter, because I use Earthquake and finish her off.
Next up is Lapras. Ugh. She uses Ice Beam, which does just under half, while I hit with Yawn. Me: 88/168 HP. She uses Sing and puts me to sleep. Not cool! Thankfully, she falls asleep also from Yawn. I send in Gareth as she snoozes. I use Thunderbolt, which thankfully does more than enough for a 2HKO…and she stays asleep, so I use Thunderbolt again next turn and finish her off.
After that is Quagsire. I have to switch, though, since i'm locked in with the Choice Specs. I send in Arcana hoping she'll use a Water-type attack…and she uses Rain Dance. I use a Moomoo Milk, just to see what she's gonna do, and she uses Amnesia. Ugh. I use a Full Heal and wake Arcana up, as she uses Amnesia again. She's still faster despite a 2-level disadvantage and uses Amnesia again, while I hit her with Earthquake for just less than half. Her: 60% or so HP and +6 Sp Def. Since Lionel has more Attack and can definitely finish her off, I send him in as she uses Earthquake, which does less than 1/3, and the rain stops. Me: 121/178 HP. I use Earthquake and finish off her Quagsire.
Finally is her ace, Starmie. I send in Arcana again as she uses Water Pulse, which Water Absorb nullifies. She uses Ice Beam, which does less than half, allowing me to use Yawn. Me: 108/168 HP. She uses it again and misses because of BrightPowder. Haha! Then I hit her with Earthquake, which gets a critical hit and knocks her into the red, and the Sitrus Berry activates before she falls asleep. Her: 45% or so HP and asleep. Thankfully, that Sitrus Berry brought her to the point where she won't use her Full Restore. So as she snoozes, I switch in Lionel, and finish her with Earthquake, ending the battle.
I was expecting that to be a lot harder, but it turned out very well. I didn't even have any of my Pokémon faint, either, so yeah, that was pretty fun. It wasn't that easy, but Arcana did most of the work with Yawn and Water Absorb. Thank god I had her, because it definitely would have been harder if I didn't. That critical hit on Starmie wouldn't have mattered that much, because she would have been near the same amount of HP and Lionel probably would have finished the job anyway. But yeah, I liked that. It was a good fight.

FINAL Emerald Ground Mono Update

Okay. I beat Tate & Liza with relatively no problems. Went through all the Magma/Aqua drama. Watched Rayquaza tell Groudon and Kyogre to stop being little.. erm... to stop being lame. Struggled a little bit with Juan since he's a water-type gym, but managed to defeat him.
Did way too much grinding for my mental health. I started getting tired of battling wild Pokemon, so I started to just use the Elite 4 to grind them up.

But then I started getting further each time.. so I started recording video in case I got lucky and beat them all and sure enough... I went and beat them!! lol

I usually struggle with these guys but they actually ended up being easier than the Elite 4 in FireRed ended up being. But maybe that's because I had a better movepool to work with since most of my Pokemon were dual-types with actually good attacks. lol

-Caught a Diglett that I found while using Rock Smash in Vermilion City. Named it Iseult.
-Battled the Snorlax on Route 11. Caught it just for the Leftovers.
-Went through Diglett's Cave.
-Battled the trainers in Viridian Forest.
-Arrived in Viridian City, just so I could fly there later.
-Arrived in Pewter City.
-Got the Rainbow Wing from the old man.
-Took on the two Gym trainers; Arcana made short work of them.

Pewter Gym overview:
Eh, i'm not even gonna bother making a team overview, because Gareth was faster than all five of his Pokémon, except Kabutops, who did less than half with Aqua Jet first, and OHKOed them with Choice Specs Earth Power. Gareth grew to Level 53 after beating that. "Hard time inflicting any damage" my ***. Seriously, the Rock-type is very susceptible to special attacks, bro.

-Returned to Celadon City and took on the trainers in the Gym.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Erika!

Next up is Tangela. She probably won't die in one hit, so I switch out for Gareth as she uses Wring Out, which hits rather hard. Me: 89/168 HP. I hit with Fire Blast and kill her in one hit.
After that is Victreebel. I miss with Fire Blast, and she kills me with Leaf Storm. I bring in Lionel, and Ice Fang leaves her with 1 HP, and she kills me in one hit with Leaf Storm without a critical hit despite the -2 Sp Atk. Her: 1 HP and -4 Sp Atk. I send in Morgause, but since she uses her Full Restore, I use Rock Smash, which doesn't even get the Defense drop. Her: 99% HP and -4 Sp Def. I use a Revival Herb on Lionel as she kills Morgause with Grass Knot. I send in Lionel again, and MISS with Ice Fang, as she sets up Sunny Day. Seriously?! She uses Leaf Storm again, and even with -4 Sp Atk it still hits ridiculously hard, but I kill her with Ice Fang. Me: 66/182 HP.
Finally is her ace, Bellossom. I send in Arcana as death fodder to Giga Drain just to stall for time for the sunlight to fade. I send in Rocky, and she uses SolarBeam, which leaves me with 1/5 HP, and I use Double-Edge, which doesn't do very much at all. Her: 3/4 or so HP, Me: 18/155 HP. The Quick Claw activates and I get in one more hit with Crunch, which lowers her Defense, before she kills me with Giga Drain and gains some HP, then the sunlight fades. Her: 55% or so HP and -1 Defense. I send in Lionel and use Ice Fang, praying to god not to miss…! It hits, and kills Bellossom, ending the battle. Lionel grows to Level 53 after that.
This battle, on the other hand, wasn't much fun at all, because of TWO misses that changed the outcome of the whole battle. I guess all things considered, even if I had killed Victreebel, Bellossom could have survived an Ice Fang or Fire Blast and set up Sunny Day, but it wouldn't have been much harder at all even then, because I could have just had Lionel use Ice Shard to finish her off. But NOOOOOOOOO, I had to miss twice and things got incredibly complicated. That was just stupid.

-Met Steven from Hoenn and found out about Latios.
-Got the Magnet Train pass from the girl in Saffron City.
-Spent around two hours biking back and forth through Goldenrod City and Route 34 until Baoba called me saying he has more objects.
-Went back to the Safari Zone, used Peak objects in the Desert and caught a Hippopotas named Lancelot.
-Went down Cycling Road, battling the trainers to get some EXP. After beating one of the Bikers who had a Weezing, Lancelot evolved into Hippowdon.
-Arrived in Fuchsia City.
-Entered the Gym, skipped the trainers and challenged the Gym Leader, Janine!

She starts off with Crobat while I open with Lancelot, which activates the Sandstorm. She uses Confuse Ray, and I hit her with Crunch, which does a decent amount and gets the Defense drop. Her: 3/4 or so HP and -1 Defense. I switch out for Lionel as she uses Wing Attack, but that doesn't do much at all. Me: 157/185 HP. I use Ice Fang, which kills her.
Next up is Weezing. I stay in just to see how much Ice Fang does - around half, pretty good, but she poisons me with Toxic. Her: 45% or so HP, Me: 146/185 HP and badly poisoned. Another Ice Fang finishes her off. Me: 124/185 HP and badly poisoned.
After that is one of her Ariados. I switch out for Rocky, as she uses Scary Face but misses. Her: 15/16 HP. Since i'm not sure what she'll do, I use Curse, as she uses Scary Face. Uh, okay? Her: 7/8 HP, Me: Full health, +1 Attack and Defense and -3 Speed. She uses Psychic, which does PATHETIC damage as I burrow under the ground. Her: 13/16 HP, Me: 143/159 HP. She misses with Psychic and I surface Dig, and she barely lives but the Sandstorm kills her.
Following is her ace, Venomoth. She uses Double Team, gah, while I burrow underground. Her: 15/16 HP. She misses with Signal Beam, and Dig almost kills her…but the Sitrus Berry activates. Her: 1/5 or so HP. After thinking it over as to whether I should use Dig or not, I decide to use Crunch. Good timing, because she doesn't heal. Instead, she uses Signal Beam, which hits decently, but I finish her with Crunch.
Finally is her second Ariados. She uses Night Shade, but I go for Crunch, which kills her with a critical hit, ending the battle.
Overall, that wasn't too hard. Thankfully her annoying tactics like Confuse Ray and Double Team didn't hamper me at all. And the Sandstorm helped a bit. This was the first important battle I got to use the Sandstorm in, so that was nice.

Switched up my party a bit. Took out of the Glooms, and replaced it with a Lileep (which evolved into a Cradily). Before hitting the 4th Gym (Flannery, I think), I farmed Meteor Falls for a Sun Stone held by wild Solrock.

Current Party looks something like this.
Sceptile, Bellossom, Shiftry, Lombre (almost got Water Stone), Cradily and Breloom.

Since my last update I have defeated the red Gyarados, helped Lance defeat Team Rocket in Mahogany Town, and got the Glacier Badge!
I also closed Hecate and Kage's level gap almost completely. :)
Next up the radio tower and the 8th gym!

Okay, here's my first update:

The generated starters for my first randomized Monotype Challenge were Magnezone, Happiny und Infernape, so I took Infernape, while my rival got Magnezone (yay!)

On Route 31 I already found another Fire-type Pokemon: Slugma! In Violet City I defeted the Elder in Sprout Tower, who had a really strong Grumpig, as well as Falkner, who fought with a Mantine and a Sentret (laaame!).

On my way through Union Cave I encountered a Cyndaquil and spent all my Pokeballs to finally catch it! I trained it and evolved it to Quilava. In Azalea Town I fought Bugsy, who, although being randomized, still fought with bug-type Pokemon and almost killed two of my Pokemon with Heracross and Butterfree.

SoulSilver Ground Monotype, Update #9

Spoiler:

-Went through Routes 15 to 11, beating all the trainers there and gaining everyone some EXP.
-Went to Route 3 and entered Mt. Moon.
-Beat Merlin. He was pretty easy since I was a bit overleveled. Sneasel was busted by one Stone Edge from Marhaus, Magneton failed with Supersonic and died to an Earthquake, Alakazam used Reflect and disabled Earthquake, but I used Double-Edge to finish that off, Gengar took over half but then avoided a Stone Edge and beat Marhaus, but Lancelot finished that off. After was Typhlosion, who narrowly failed to beat Lancelot with Flamethrower before I killed him in one Earthquake (critical hit that I probably didn't need), and last was Golbat, who Lionel dispatched of with one Ice Fang.
-Went down Route 1 and arrived in Pallet Town.
-Went through Route 19 and arrived in Cinnabar Island.
-Went through Route 20 and entered Seafoam Islands.
-Beat all the trainers in the Gym.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Blaine!

Cinnabar Gym overview:
Not even gonna bother posting a team overview, because Lionel (Level 55, Choice Scarf) was faster than all three of his Pokémon and killed them in one hit with Earthquake. In my Nuzlocke of this game, this was the easiest Gym, and it was also the easiest here. Only difference here was that Mamoswine also OHKOed the Rapidash, while there I had a Kingdra that used Dragon Dance twice then killed it.

-Returned to Cinnabar Island and met Blue, who returned to the Gym.
-Trained everyone to Level 56.
-Went to the Gym and beat all the trainers. None of them were hard, except the Double Team with an Azumarill and Porygon2 who were just infuriating.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Blue!

Viridian Gym overview:

He starts off with Exeggutor while I open with Lionel. I use Ice Fang, which kills him in one hit with a critical hit. I'm not sure if I needed that critical hit, but hey, you never know.
Next up is Arcanine. He gets off Intimidate, but I send in Marhaus as he uses Flare Blitz, which does 1/4 - not too bad. Him: 95% or so HP, Me: 126/171 HP. He uses Dragon Pulse, which does less than half, before I kill him with Earthquake. Me: 54/171 HP.
After that is - gulp - Gyarados. Not sure of if he'll use Dragon Dance or Waterfall, I stay in, and he uses Waterfall and kills me. I send in Gareth and use Thunderbolt, which…does not kill him! But he uses Dragon Dance. Him: 5% HP, +1 Attack and Speed. Okay, we're fine unless he's faster (which wouldn't be that surprising, Clair's was faster than Gareth but Lance's was slower, and i'm higher leveled here). He uses his Full Restore, but I use Thunderbolt again and knock him right back near where he was. I use Thunderbolt again, and I do outspeed him, finishing him off.
Following is Rhydon. Unfortunately, I have to switch there. I go into Arcana, and he uses Earthquake, which does less than half. Me: 100/187 HP. He's faster and hits me with it again, but I live and kill him in one hit with Surf. Me: 13/187 HP.
Next up we have Machamp, who kills me with Earthquake. I send in Lancelot just to see what he can do. Well, activate Sandstorm, that much is true. Haha, that rhymes. I use Earthquake, which does enough for a 2HKO, but he hits me with DynamicPunch, which, in addition to confusing me, gets a critical hit. Not cool! Him: 37% or so HP, Me: 69/195 HP and confused. I use a Full Restore just to see what he'll do, and he uses DynamicPunch again. Him: 31% or so HP, Me: 138/195 HP and confused. I decide, nah, i'm not taking the chance. I send in Rocky as he uses DynamicPunch again. Him: 1/4 or so HP, Me: 75/171 HP and confused. Unfortunately, he uses his Full Restore, and I…hit myself. Gee, sure didn't see that coming. Him: 15/16 HP, Me: 64/171 HP. I use a Lemonade before he uses Earthquake. Him: 7/8 HP, Me: 74/171 HP and confused. He kills me with DynamicPunch. Him: 13/16 HP. I send in Gareth and use Thunderbolt (in preparation for Pidgeot), but it does less than half and he uses Earthquake. Him: 60% or so HP, Me: 29/177 HP. I use a Fresh Water on Lancelot before he kills me with Stone Edge. I then send in Lancelot and kill him with Earthquake. Me: Full health.
Finally is his ace, Pidgeot. He uses Air Slash, which does around 1/3, while I hit him with Crunch for light damage. Him: 3/4 or so HP, Me: 147/195 HP. He uses Air Slash again, and I flinch. Him: 11/16 or so HP, Me: 99/195 HP. He uses Air Slash again, while I hit him with Double-Edge, and knock him to his Sitrus Berry. Him: 1/2 or so HP, Me: 32/195 HP. I send in Lionel as he uses Return, which…doesn't do too much. Me: 123/195 HP. I use Ice Fang and kill him, ending the battle.
That was a pretty good battle. Everyone did well (except Rocky, who did absolutely nothing) and although none of his guys were that hard, except Machamp (who was by far the hardest of his), it was fun. I don't know if I needed the critical hit on Exeggutor at the beginning, but if I did, then i'll be darned.

-Got HM08 for Rock Climb from Professor Oak and was invited to Mt. Silver.
