Okay, so I looked in the other thread and tried to make a small recap of what has been said, with my opinions added at the end:

Something happens to PC and users have to figure out who is behind the thing. To solve the mystery, they will have to participate in events, where they'll be given points (few bigger events could even give clues). Once users accumulate enough points, they will be given new clue. The bar with all the thresholds could be in the banner to be visible all the time. To be more immersive, we can create multiple story accounts that will communicate with users.

1. Personally I would love to see the whole community working together, instead of working in teams.
2. I will let more competent people work on the story.
3. Basically what bobandbill said + giving clues away on social media and on Discord + bigger events could give away clues.
4. Let event hosts decide if they want to incorporate detective theme into their event.

One thing that I'm not sure about is a prize for solving the mystery. Emblem, badge new theme or just a sense of accomplishment... I have honestly no idea.

Taking what gimmepie said on board to some extent... let's try this as a basis. It can be adapted to a two-team setup if we want in the end, but it assumes no teams - just two sub-adventures.

The 'set-up' is after the regular Kanto story (I suppose specifically LGPE story). Detective Pikachu and Eevee are trying to investigate why Team Rocket are suddenly running riot again. Specifics of that we can make up later, but let's consider two sets of events or targets of them. The two agree to investigate each event/area - DP goes off to try to find clues on one aspect, and Eevee the other. Some GT events will give points that contribute to clues for one event, one the other. Additionally, there's also clues unlocked by a grand point total, relating the two together.

Once both sets of clues are revealed, the 'big bad' behind the control of TR is revealed, and then remaining events/event points are needed to overcome said boss.

Flexibility of the above is that we can have two teams, but otherwise have a group effort with just a bit of spice to it. I don't think it is currently too complex with that set-up - after all, it's still only having one major twist. Up to us to have the two TR efforts connected that fits the motivation of the big bad. I'd say a Pokemon fits the bill for this role.

Or in point form:
- Events give points. All points count to a grand total. Certain point totals reveal clues.
--- Some events points also count towards a Detective Pikachu quest. Certain point totals reveal clues specific to this part.
--- Some events points also count towards a Detective Eevee quest Certain point totals reveal clues specific to this part.
- Once all clues are uncovered for the two 'side stories', boss revealed, and need points from remaining events to defeat it.

Thinking aloud on who or what the big bad is... I don't quite like the idea of Darkrai if only because 'it being a dream' is overdone. Marshadow however may be interesting - it is hiding in the shadows of Team Rocket, using their powers and hence manipulating them to doing what it wants. It's a Ghost-type too, so we could have one place be Lavender's Pokemon Tower.

(Story lore - Eevee is the one investigating this place, it can when revealing itself try a Ghost type attack only to not effect Eevee due to its Normal typing).

However we still need a motivation for it. I'll think on that some more, but share ideas. Could be a cuter/innocent idea (e.g. making TR attack the celedon store as the second location... but it just wants a bunch of food for idk, a party or something - it's just also a jerk and didn't think using TR to attack places would matter for anyone that matters (aka not itself).)

Why wouldn't it just pummel it with a Fighting move since it's also a Fighting type? I absolutely agree though that Darkrai is in so many ways really overused as a villain.

Anyway, I like what you've done here and think it's a good middle ground without over-complicating anything. I really don't want to see this turn into teams again though because the whole point of doing something different was to step away from doing the same thing over and over like we have the last few years.

We definitely need to come up with a really solid story though and I think maybe continuing in this thread isn't the best way to do that to be honest. Too many people can give input and it's too irregular. It might be better if we have one person, or a sub-committee of 2-3 people do the story and then present it to everyone else to be tweaked.

Agree. I'll post the idea on discord.
