Pokemon Advanced. I think the characters felt more fleshed out in it (and, no I didn't watch it growing up - I've consumed all my Advance Gen anime since 2010).

Dragonite, because he predates Salamence and because Shellgon is honestly the worst design of any dragon pokemon so that evolutionary line automatically gets docked credibility points.
