I swear, I must have a computer that represents the past four generations of Windows at this time. I have a no name Pentium 133 that I brought back to life with parts which has 32 MB of RAM, a 16x DVD-ROM drive, and an ATI Rage 64 graphics card that runs Windows 98SE. A Digital Equipment Corporation laptop which has an 8x CD-ROM drive, 32 MB of RAM, a Pentium II MMX 233 MHz processor, and an unknown graphics card which runs Windows 2000 SP4. An IBM 300PL desktop with 128 MB of RAM, a Pentium III 600 MHz processor, two optical drives which are a 16x DVD-ROM drive and a 32x/16x/48x CD-RW drive, and an nVidia graphics card which runs Windows XP SP3. and lastly an HP Compaq nx7300 which has 1 GB of RAM, an unknown speed DVD-RW drive, a 1.73 GHz Celeron M processor, and an Intel integrated graphics card which runs not only Windows Vista SP1 but also Ubuntu Linux.

  • Heh, this is all. I have every intention of setting up a gutsy desktop one day, but right now, I'm trying to salvage parts from broken computers that people have given me. What? I don't have thousands to chuck around...

    Notebook:
    Intel Centrino @ 1.86GHz
    1.5 GB DDR2 RAM
60 GB HDD (5400 RPM) - I will upgrade this eventually
    8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Dual Layer
    Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 900
    Wireless - 2200BG & Bluetooth

    ...yeah.

Wow, I think mine is actually the best one in this thread as of right now. Only cost my $808 to build and ship it to my house! Just try and beat that stupid Dell, HP, and other name brand garbage! Indian Tech support isn't worth $1000 more so cut the crap. Of course Tsugaru's will be better than mine soon when more applications support Quad cores but for now I'd say my 4870 beats his 3870X2 at 1280x1024 and Dual Core is still supreme for gaming at the moment.

Beastly Computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Build 7000.

    NZXT Hush Case
    Biostar T-Power 45 Motherboard
    CoolMax 950W Modular Power Supply
    3.0 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.25 Ghz OC
    8 GB of DDR2 1066 Mhz Ram
    ATI Radeon HD4870 Graphics Card
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card
250GB Western Digital HDD (SATA II 3.0 Gbps)
    Random Black DVD Drive
    Random Black DVD Burner

Windows 7 is Vista done right. It's faster than XP, believe it or not. Of course, on a machine like this, how much faster can you get? Plays Crysis maxed out no lag at all 75+ FPS at all times, RAPE! I love PC Gaming. CS:S, UT3, Fallout 3, WoW, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, Crysis Warhead are some of my favorites.

Pic or it didn't happen? Okay:

    Windows WEI Score: Click Me!
Picture of Computer (Insides): Click Me!
Pic of Computer (Case): Click Me!

EDIT: Why do people need so much damn Hard Drive space?

Oh, and I'm upgrading the Hard Drive to a Velociraptor next month so my WEI Score will go to 6.7. With Dual Core, you can't get much higher because getting passed 7.0 requires a Quad Core which isn't important for gaming (yet).

  • Well I have 4 Computers now in my house in use.

My brand new last gen Macbook Pro which is mine with Mac OS X Leopard. Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.5 Ghz currently with 2.0 Gb of RAM. the rest is pretty much the same as Gerri's except for the HDD which is currently at 232 Gb.
On Wednesday I will boot camp Windoze Vista and I will see what its like to use Vista on a fast machine

    Remember

"The best computer we tested with Windows Vista was a Mac."

I have a Compaq Presario C700 which is now my mother's which is still stuck at 1 Gig of ram and has a 1.60 Ghz Intel Pentium Dual Core processor. It is now Dual-booting between Windows Vista and Windows XP With dramatic Speed differences. I also have a Dell Dimension 4550 Desktop to my self at 2 Gb of ram and a 2.53 Ghz Pentium 4. Also the family desktop is 2 Gb of Ram and 1.60 Ghz Intel Viiv.

Let's face it. We will never touch AMD.

I google searched your quote and found nothing, so obviously vista runs faster on a windows machine

as for me I have an Acer Aspire 500 or something like that, 512mb of RAM, 140gb HDD and some other parts, running Windows XP Home Edition SP3, not the best machine, but it's still usable for now
