story

For a world which had eternally been without colour, the concept of anything other than black and white was unknown, myth, fiction, false and considered blasphemy. It was forbidden. It was strange. It was simply blasphemy. Unfortunately, their fear of change eventually became the world's end and now, gradually, the current world is being 'erased' by 'God', page by page. On top of that, no one knows how to fully restore this world and so the current citizens simply sit and continue life as they always have, simply ignoring this slow and unavoidable end. I mean, death is inevitable, right? One should know better than to have a fight with fate. It was destiny and no one bothered to deny it. "Don't mess with God's will." Such as one abridged version of their many laws state. However, in every book, story, world and universe is always one who supports change and there is always one who will overcome laws and jump hoops to start change. This world has not one but many of these people called 'Tint' and as many supporters call them, heroes.

'Heroes' are children who have witnessed the removal of their page and still stand here today. They have seen friends, family, rivals, enemies, strangers and all who had lived on the same page vanish right before their eyes. Looks of fear, acceptance, sorrow, happiness and regret flashed in front of them only to make something from within click and activate. Almost instantly, these children were granted a single coloured limb. An eye, a tooth, a lock of hair, a nail or maybe even a tongue was coloured and the children are now granted the title of a Tint. Like their name states, they're gifted with the ability to 'tint' the world in their colour, depending on whether it is the correct tint or not, and whatever is tinted is saved from the inevitable. Still, what is lost cannot be remade. That is the price a hero must pay.

Of course, all heroes need haters. The opposition, who believe that the law should be upheld and followed, are known as 'Clear' or more commonly, the group called 'Cleaner.' Although these people are like any other ordinary person, they have been given permission to kill on sight and are the only people allowed to carry weapons. Now, they have grouped together to remove the Tint and cleanse this world of the blasphemy known as colour. As the current Tint have yet to group up, meet or even know about the existence of the other, they're currently in a huge disadvantage.

It's Tint and Cleaner in a quite one sided journey to either save this world or simply watch it die.


so far

part i - the beginning​

It has already been five years since the first page was fully erased. This dreadful event was called Erase. Now, people have concluded that at the beginning of every year one page will be erased and the whole thing will work from out to in. This means, Kuro and Shiro are the safest places to be. The cities are now currently overpopulated and extremely crowded. The Tint, or as many other people call them, the survivors have all been put into select centers and are given emotional support. They're also valuable witnesses and test subjects. Some people have started called the survivors Tint and other call them devils. Only very recently have people discovered their ability to tint this black and white world and drama is slowly unfolding. Cleaner has been formed and all the Tint have been cast away into the city to fend for themselves. Their story has begun.

As per mentioned before, you can only be a Tint or a Clear. However, there are limited positions for Tint as there are limited colours in this world and those currently present. Current available positions:

As the story progresses, more Tint will be added and there is currently an unlimited number of six spots for Clear available with a maximum of ten altogether. This number does include Clear turn Tint. Unfortunately for Tint, its first come first served. There are no reserves for the Tint. There are now reservations for Tint available. Please keep in mind that the simple concept of colour or Tint is considered blasphemy and you don't have to be supportive of your fate after you've received it. Colour is blasphemy and to most people, including themselves, Tint are law breakers and change bringers. Don't ever forget that.

If you want to be a Clear who turns into a Tint, please tell me and PM me the details.

ebony - the black tint​

Not in story yet.
Of course, because his Tint is basically unnoticeable, Ebony is a free child who roams among the pages with a cheeky grin. Twin brother of Ivory, Ebony is a mischief maker and is there purely to cause trouble to both sides of the colour game. He's of thirteen years and, like the rest of the NPCs, knows more about Canvas than the rest of this world.

ivory - the white tint​

Not in story yet.
Like her brother, Ivory roams Canvas with Ebony freely and is usually without a care in the world. Ivory, however, is a huge worrywart and is so often pestering her brother about what they're doing. The twins are directly under the artist and are there as mainly informants or hinderers to both sides. Unlike the rest, they do have some unnatural abilities but more about that will be revealed later.

the artist​

Event starter only.
This artist is the girl mentioned in the starter below and is known as 'God' by the citizens of Canvas. Currently oblivious to the events which happen in that world, she's the cause of the Erase and one day for her is a year for Canvas. Still, the girl is 'erasing' Canvas for the sake of nostalgia. Will bringing colour Canvas make her stop?

2. You aren't allowed to kill characters without the other person's consent. If your character does end up dieing, you either start anew or watch the RP from afar. Of course, if you were a Tint, you cannot have your position returned and that colour will be re-opened.
3. For Tint, only a small part of your body should be coloured. It should also be easily found so don't place it somewhere people wouldn't dare look.
4. Battles and the like are permitted. However, keep in mind this RP has been rated T.
5. Mention the word 'monochrome' somewhere in your SU.
6. Please come up with completely original characters and keep in mind you're all human. No one has random super natural abilities other than tinting something.
7. Tinting works via a direct touch and the command 'Tint' from the Tint.

Pages are otherwise known as the settings events will take place in. The place as a whole is known as Canvas. There were thirteen pages with five currently wiped. This number will rise as plot progresses. All the pages are linked to each other save for Kin, Gin and Chaiiro. The current state of Canvas is below.

kuro​

The centre of Canvas and where most people either take refuge in or go to find work. It's setting is one of a capital city and has high rise buildings from left to right. It currently has advanced to technology like ours and is always busy with citizens and is where the institute for Tint is located. Everyone will start here or in Shiro whether new, old, Tint or Clear.

Here is where the city is at its busiest and at the very center is a huge fountain called Angel's Wish. Most people organize meets here as everyone knows what and where the fountain is located.

survivors institute
The survivors of the Erase were actually considered mental to most of society and so, this institute is located on the very edge of the city a good ten kilometres away from the City Centre. It looks like a mental institute inside and out. The survivors, before classified as Tint, had a separate room each. All Tint start here as people still have to confirm whether you're actually a Tint or not.

back alleys
The slums of the grand city. Basically the dark side of the happy city which could be filled with law breakers, thieves and more. Many people avoid the alleys in general and mothers often tell their children that Tint hide in the alleys, ready to eat them.

shiro​

The sister city of Kuro. This place is actually a complete replica of Kuro, save for the not-updated technology which means they don't use hand held devices. The only real difference is it's colour scheme and there are more white buildings than black. There is no Survivors Institute and Back Alleys here are the city considers itself clean of impurity. This is home to the CC.

cleaner corporation
Also known as the CC, here was where the Cleaners got their rights to use weapons and is otherwise known as their base. It's a grand building which is located just two kilometres away from the City Centre and currently consists of twenty floors. It's a high rise building with a pool, sports area, leisure floor and anything a person could want. Actually, there's a rumor that some people become Clear just to get access to this building.

haiiro​

Not accessible yet.
Haiiro is a little of Kuro and Shiro combined. It's not as busy as Kuro and has less buildings than the two. Haiiro is the most quiet of the Pages and is mainly the one who has all the information about everything. Those from Aoi often travel to Haiiro to learn more about modern society as well as the history of Canvas. 'The Grey Library' is Haiiro's nickname.

chaiiro​

Not accessible yet.
If it wasn't for Chaiiro, Kin and Gin would definitely be proclaiming war on Kuro and Shiro. It's a very shaky place to be as people fear war almost everyday and you can hear the shouts of Kin echo across the walls which separate the Pages at night. Chaiiro is also the poorest place in Canvas as Kin often raids the places here for more resources that they so often lack. Chaiiro is mainly ignored by the rest of Canvas.

kin​

Not accessible yet.
A capital city of its own, Kin relied on steam for power and now has a setting extremely similar to that of 'Steampunks.' They work separately from Kuro and Shiro and actually despise the center cities. Other than that, Kin relies on wood and coal and prefer not to use any type of electricity. This Page is currently on very bad terms with Kuro.

gin​

Not accessible yet.
Like Shiro, its the sister city of Kin and has basically a replica of the other city. Still, the buildings here are just that tad lighter. Like Kin, Gin doesn't use advanced technology and the people who live here hate the center cities. Unlike Kin, however, Gin has the extra building or two with a few more resources. This Page is currently on bad terms with Shiro.

pinku​

Not accessible yet.
The land of toys. If you like teddy bears and cute clothes, Pinku was the Page for you. Closely linked to Murasaki, Pinku is the cute version of that Page and many of the people who come here and stay are females. So, majority of people here are females and everyone here loves the sweets of Midori. Pinku is also known as the capital of 'kawaii.'

orenji​

Not accessible yet.
Orenji was closely linked to Akai and was famous for its oranges. Similar to Akai, the people here farm but used more recent techniques of Kuro and Shiro by using machinery. Food from Akai went to Orenji and then to Kuro and Shiro. If you wanted something different to eat, you'd choose the food with the Orenji label. They were different to Akai in a good way.

murasaki​

Erased. Former home of the Purple Tint.
Murasaki was fashion central. The people who lived here all became designers, sewers, artists... Fashion! If you didn't fit in here, you moved to Kuro or Shiro however, the Murasaki brand is a famous one in the capitals and people are always willing to pay for their work and designs. Murasaki so often ignored the Pages Kin and Gin.

aoi​

Erased. Former home of the Blue Tint.
This place was known for its education system. All people who came from here were immediately deemed smart and being from Aoi meant you knew it all. Most people went here for their Universities and many families lost their precious children in the Erase. Aoi was greatly linked to Haiiro and when Aoi was erased, Haiiro was rumored to weep the whole week after.

kiiro​

Erased. Former home of the Yellow Tint.
If anyone loved the sun, Kiiro was the place full of pools, beaches and it was guaranteed to never rain here, ever. Most people who live here end up leading happy lives and the 'Joy of Kiiro' was a well known phrase among all the pages. It was the perfect holiday destination for surfers, swimmers and those who just wanted some fun in the sun.

midori​

Erased. Former home of the Green Tint.
Midori was where people invented candy. No, seriously. Midori is the home of sweets and confectionery. Well, was the home of sweets and confectionery. The citizens here took pride in what they did and gladly shipped to other pages.Today, Midori Sweets are super rare and are extremely valuable. People are willing to almost do anything to get their hands on these sweets.

akai​

Erased. Former home of the Red Tint.
This place also was formerly known as the 'country side' and had the least amount, if not any, technology whatsoever. However, this place was where many people got resources, crops and raised cattle. If anyone ever wanted an escape from the city, Akai was the place to be. It was also famous for the apples which so often grew here.

Faults [Yet again, you're human]: His faults are mainly his speed. He is not very fast and often caries a tool belt, a big encumbrance. Also, he doesn't like hights at all, anything above 5 floors makes him scared and dizzy.

Appearance [Images permitted]: He has messy hair, with a lock of dark blue sticking out on top of his head, causing him to often wear a hat. He usually wears a leather jacket, with denim jeans and a tool belt. He wears running shoes and wears a glove on his left hand. He often wears a bandana around his neck. His face is soft to the eyes, with a relatively small nose and straight lips. He is 5'11, with a lanky build, and weighs about 100lbs. Most of his little muscles reside in his arms, from creating stuff, and has quick hands, from years of shuffling and dealing cards.

Personality: He has a negative persona about almost everything. He is often depressed and down about something. He has a hard time making friends, and most the time he doesn't want to. He doesn't care much for people who dislike him, and wears his hat to hide from judgment about his tint. People tend to avoid him, cause he seems to give of a negetive aura.

He mourns for his family often and sometimes sulks in corners, wishing they had either not of been erased or he had been erased with them. When ever someone brings up his parents, he storms off, either to sulk, shuffle his cards, or make a small contraption. He highly dislikes the goverment and when ever he noticed a clear he would calmly walk away. He doesn't often use his tint, only to make his contraptions more livelier or on his cards so he could find them if he lost them.

History: Everite had a lonely childhood. His brother and sister didn't want anything to do with him, and his parents were often working. At school he had little to no friends and sat at the back of the class. He didn't like school, until they had workshop class. Then he would stay after school, working on projects and other things. His sister started to care for him when he was about thirteen, when she realized they both liked playing cards. When he wasn't staying after school, he was playing cards with his sister.

Then one day, disaster struck. He was climbing a tall tree, age 11, when he saw it. He noticed over by the water tower, stuff was disappearing. He heard about whole cities being erased, presumably by god. He tried to quickly scamper down the tree but when he heard his sister call his name, he looked over and saw that the city was almost gone. His sister tripped and fell into a ditch, just by town edge, then, it was gone. Everite looked with shock and pure horror, as all that was left was plain whiteness. He looked over by the ditch but couldn't find his sister. So he walked away, his life in ruins, only having: a toolbelt, the clothes on his back, a deck of cards, and a conspicuous lock of blue hair. He had a hard time making his way in the world for 5 years, he left with only a meagre amount of coins, causing him to live on the streets and occasionally steal, he didn't like it, but it was all he new for the broad of his teenage years.

Opinion of 'Colored': He heard about the tinted but never thought much of them. Once he relized he was one, he just bought a hat with his savings, and continued wandering. He might of seen some, but just not of noticed or cared.

Titus woke up, drunk, in a puddle of mud. He sat up and looked around. Out of all of the travelers and pedestrians walking near, no one paid any mind to the drunkard in the middle of the road besides some kids. Many patrons to that town and the bar knew of the ironic drunk paladin, who soaked up his grief for his sister with mead, wine, and beer. He was currently clad in some ordinary cloth breaches and leather shirt. His small potatoe sack shoes was what he wore when he didn't feel like putting on his boots. He stood dumbfounded in the middle of the street until he remembered he had a place to be, a place where he was often. He was recently slipped an invitation to a certain quest. Titus was rather low on money, and decided he needed something to do. Gathering himself, he walked out of the road and down a few alleys to his apartment. Finding the key, he opened his door and walked into his house. Some say his house smells like dank clothing, but Titus called it home. After some fussing with his wardrobe, he finally donned his paladin armour, a suit most rarely see. He locked his door and left to the bar.

As he approached the bar, he noticed it was rather quiet then usual, which disappointed him. He walked into the bar to see a mage walking to a table, THE table, that Titus was headed to. As people were still staring, Titus used his influence to stop it.

"Ok, alright, nothing to see hear, I want to hear the usual bar chatter, and look away!" Titus bellowed, causing everyone to return to their normal duties.

Titus walked up to the mage and put a hand on her shoulder.

"You know, you should really watch your tongue with matters like these." Titus concluded, and went and sat down at the table, nodding his head at the town fellows with guns, and sitting back to wait for the task master.

Weapon: Her Intelligence.

Distinct Skills: She is clever, and very good at sneaking. She is also good at climbing things and running. She is observant, and she is also good at chess. She knows how to pick locks, which is a skill she's used many a time in her life. She is good at throwing rock is, so she has good aim with throwing things. In other words, she's good at stealing stuff. She is not easily distracted.
Faults: She oftentimes let's her emotions get the better of her, and she is very weak. She knows how to use a gun, but isn't good at it. She doesn't have many combat skills, so she normally just runs instead of fights. Despite being old enough to learn, she can't drive. She has an allergy to bee stings (not that big of a weakness, but still, a weakness). Her biggest weakness, however, is her fear. She is afraid of almost everything. It doesn't take much to scare her.
She also hears voices.
Appearance: At 5'11", she is pretty tall, and she weighs approximately 131 pounds. Imaginably, she is very skinny. Her hair is long, but she keeps it in a bow tied behind her head. She has a small nose, and long legs. She has often been described as pretty, but only by the gang of thieves she worked for.
She wears a pair of blue jeans(probably just jeans without color. She also wears a hooded jacket, and underneath it, she wears a t-shirt. She also wears gloves to hide a strange green fingernail she has. For shoes, she wears a pair of boots, with socks that don't match.
Personality: Although she is 17, she is very panicky (not to mention schizophrenic). She is very timid and nervous, and likes to avoid people. She always carries a flashlight, because she is easily scared. Not that she has any problem with bugs, just the normal kinds of fears. She is bashful, and is impossible to keep calm. However, she gets bored very easily. However, she gets very lonely sometimes, so if she isn't afraid that you will kill her(the voices told her you would), she will try to spend time with you. However, she is easily stressed, and has high stress issues.
She gets upset easily, and after her sadness comes a rage unforseen by, well, ANYONE. If she gets angry, she will come after you with everything she has, but because she's weak, it won't be much(unless she has a gun). However, after her fits of uncontrolled, primal rage, she will often sulk for hours on end, because she gets very upset very easily. However, if the tables turn to her side (I.E she's winning) she will cheer up a bit.
History: When she was a child, everything started. She never knew her parents, she has always just lived in a foster home. It was hell. Everyone was always picking on her. She always had severe stress issues, so eventually, she wanted to commit suicide. Before doing so, however, she heard a voice.
The voice said no.
It said it was wrong to kill yourself. It said you can just stay alive. Do whatever you want. It said she could leave. In the dead of night, when she was only 14, she left the foster home. Their were a few guards their, but she easily snuck past them. They were slow and unobservant. She easily got out and, she went out on the streets. She was soon hired by a gang leader, who used her to steal money for him. One day, while going back to her master to give him the money she stole, she turned a corner, and saw something.
Something very, very, very bad. In the distance, where the base was, reality seemed to be dissapearing around her. The base first, then the street she was standing on, then the entire city. Poor little Saint had no idea what to do, she ws scared. She sat down and closed her eyes, expecting to die that moment. However, when she opened them again, everything was gone. EVERYTHING. The base, her master, the entire city even. Everything she had ever known had disappeared before her eyes. The only things she had was her jacket and gloves, her t-shirt, her jeans, a can of beans she brought as a snack, the $176.83 cents she had stolen, and a small container of Midori sweets^TM. After a few tears were shed, she left the empty page.
Opinion on 'Colour:' Sandra believes that the world is very bland. You heard me. She doesn't like dark, grey colors all around her. She finds it all very boring. She likes color, though the only real color she has ever seen is her green fingernail. Personally, she believes that the world needs to be a little less monochrome.(nailed it.)

Drode Highland walked into the tavern to find that someone had already died. As he looked upon the burning corpse on the floor, he sighed. Crap, he thought, that is not good. I'm gonna have to go through this quickly before the city guard show up. Sighing, he walked over to the table with the seven adventurers at it and sat down. Wait a minute. Seven? That wasn't right. There were supposed to be eight. He skimmed the area, and immediately saw a sneaky little assasin hiding in the background; Highland assumed it was Rafiel. "Come on Raf," Highland complained, "come over here. No reason to be shy." Highland gave out a smug grin at Rafiel, and grumbling, he walked over to the table, and sat down. "I suppose," Highland started, "that I have a lot of explaining to do. I'm just going to do this quickly before the city guard show up." He scowled at Dana, then continued. "We all kmow about The Temple, home of Shaila, the great female necromancer who has been causing a real crap ton of trouble. Well, apparently she can get worse. A friend of mine-a very powerful friend indeed-sensed a dark power coming from The Temple, something that could only match the power of an angry god..."
He decided to assume that they knew what he was talking about, and waited for a response.

Wow. I sleep, rise and find that tinted. is up and is already somewhat catching the eyes of people. Truth to be told I didn't expect much to come out of this ._.

Anyways, the first post is still in an editing process and is actually missing a lot of information. I guess I should of mentioned somewhere that SUs shouldn't be submitted yet but that didn't cross my mind until much much later after I posted this.

I basically added some background information to a few Pages and asked for people to submit an RP sample.

The Red Tint​

Distinct Skills: Kai has a way with hands. She's creative, above all, and her hands often help her achieve what she wants. Art, music, writing... It's all possible because of her skillful hands which always seem to know what to do. Kai also has a small thing for cooking and baking. The kitchen is definitely her domain and no one can beat her apple pies, no one. The girl was also gifted with perfect pitch and finds joy in music. Her most favourite instrument is the violin and may often be found with a violin case in her hands.

Faults: Kai is a very rash girl and is quick to come to conclusions. Although she is willing to listen to opinions, she'll often stop you just before you finish and butt in with her own. She's clumsy and is often the one who'll trip over first. Kai is also extremely prideful and it is extremely rare for you to find her admitting that she is wrong. She is thoughtful, however, and usually tries to make herself seem smart with a witty comment or two. Kai often is found at the center of arguments and is also defined as snappy and proud.

Appearance: Due to much of the work she did as a farmer's daughter, Kai cut her hair short and was trained to have very strong arms. Still, she has delicate fingers which were often used to do a wife's housework and her hands are very able. She's of a strong build and may even be a little taller than the average girl for her age. For attire, she wears the most common clothing as new items would be easily stained on the farm. When she's in the mood for casual, she's often found with a white blouse and a long pleated skirt. It's simple and easy to wear. It's also quite comfortable for the girl and her many grueling tasks for the day. Her eyes, above all, seem to be unwavering and confident and the right eye has been tinted in a most clear, confident red.

Personality: Kai is an organized kind of girl. She likes to be on schedule and absolutely hates being late or people who are late. Once again, she's snappy and somewhat arrogant when it comes to proving what she, as a girl, can do as she was so often teased by her many brothers on the farm. Kai also likes putting herself above others and its as though her personality is actually her main fault.

However, she does smile a lot and laughs a little more than she should. Kai is hard to put down and she'll usually accept things rather than reject them. Still, she's always right when it comes to her opinions and her abilities, apparently. She's a fun farm girl to be around and will usually be trying to make you laugh along with her, even though her jokes are really cheesy and lame. She's not a bad person and she's certainly not your average villain character.

History: If it wasn't obvious already, Kai was born on the farm and raised to be both a farmer's son and daughter in one. Her father seemed to have some kind of motto of having anyone, whether male or female, to work hard when it comes to farming. Her mother, was a very kind woman but still strict when time called for it and was the one who granted the girl her current cooking ability. Kai lived quite happily on this farm of hers with a large family of three brothers, young and old, and a mother and a father. Though, if she could ask for anything else, it would be a scholarship in music. Her father, knowing this fact, began to rack up his savings and gained up little by little to one day, send his dear little girl to Aoi.

The day he granted Kai the money was the day the first Erase came. Now, as Akai was the first place to be erased, no one actually knew the event was coming and no one had expected it. It was Kai's worst nightmare. Just moments ago, her father had been in front of her with a smug grin on his face and his hand in his jacket pocket and now, he was gone, replaced with pure nothingness, literally. Her mother, father and brothers had vanished without a trace. The farm, the well, the shed across the road, Mr Pickles from the other street, Ms Featherington from further down the alley and everyone she ever knew and cared about was gone. The series of events which followed had all seemed like a dream to Kai and when she finally came to, she found herself in Kuro completely isolated.

Now, five years later and cast out into a city she had never been in, Kai has completely lost her smile. She looks at the world in a most depressing way and is basically waiting for her death. She doesn't care about this world and is almost hoping, wishing, that the whole world will be erased once more and her along with it.

Opinion on 'Colour:' Kai never really understood what colour was. It was just something strange that the people in the Survivors Institute looked at weirdly. So, the girl views it as some kind of contagious sickness that her eye happened to catch and prays that it will one day kill her. She does think that its very pretty though and, if possible, she'd like to learn more about this contagious sickness called colour and how it affects people in this so called monochrome world.

Extra: "Save them from the inevitable? Death is inevitable. Even if we do end up tinting this world and saving everyone, it doesn't matter. We all die in the end. Death is inevitable. That's all there is to it."

RP Sample:
Kai heaved and pulled as her brothers, who sat on the back of the old horse cart, laughed at her struggles. "Work harder A-chan! You'll never be able to get back home in time for dinner at this rate!" One of them shouted at her, throwing a handful of straw at the young girl's face. Glaring at the both of them, Kai pulled with all her might and as soon as they reached the top of the hill, she stepped back and simply pushed the cart forward, watching with a smug look on her face as her brothers fell into the duck pond below.

"Haha!! Who's laughing now, idiots?" She stood at the edge of the pond, blowing a raspberry at the two and kicking dirt into the murky water. To her surprise, a hand came from the depths and pulled her in as well, water clogging her ears and currently open mouth. Coming back to the surface, she frowned at her brother and kicked him, her legs completely missing in the water's depths. Splashing her other brother, Kai found herself giggling and chuckling as the three got involved in the world's lamest water fight and completely chased the ducks out of the pond. None of the three did get their supper that day and Kai never even imagined that this summer would be the last summer with her family.
