Too much Johto?

I've been thinking: with all the crazy Johto promotion going on
(with the release of the HG/SS remake, the appearance of Kotone in the anime, the notched ear Pichu and the movie Phantom Ruler Z)...
Aren't the creators getting a bit carried away with all this Johto stuff. I mean, the previous remake (FR/LG) made almost no impact to the Pokemon anime besides having a season set in Kanto. The Sinnoh saga isn't even finished yet!
Hopefully if they make a new season, or a new generation, they don't replace Dawn, she's one of my fave anime characters.
But then again, the 13th season could be about the Sinnoh characters in Johto for the Battle Frontier, just like the Battle Frontier in AG...

The reason for the Johto hype, is because out of all of the games, Gen. 2 is the most popular among fans. For this reason, Game Freak and Nintendo are milking it for all its worth.

Dude, I don't blame them for milking it for all it's worth. Johto was amazing, the game, the Pokemon, the stories, the characters, the places, the cities, the gym leaders, the timing of the games, I can't think of any better memories other than the Johto movies and games!

There is definite reason for the Johto hype. I understand it, and I agree with it. I don't care about the other places, Johto for me. Lol. That's what I feel. In my opinion, I am welcoming these games and the new movie with open arms, there can never be too much Johto.

Johto was the best reason in my honest opinion so I have no problem with them doing it - however I don't really pay attention to the anime so I can't say I care about them overdoing Johto or not in that department.

Johto is the second worst region in my eyes, but I do understand where the hype comes in. For a lot of fans, Johto was, and is the best region, despite a few jarring flaws, such as the levelling, and the size of the region being a bit small. Team Rocket could also have been handled a little better, but that one is my own opinion. Don't get me wrong, it was a great region, but it's just not my favorite.

But people like me are apprently a minority, so what will Game Freak, Nintendo, and whoever makes the anime do? Milk it for all that it's worth plus twenty. I mean, Johto is more popular then Sinnoh, so they're going to put refrences to Johto in everywhere.

HGSS have been released in Japan, and that has spawned the Johto promotion in other areas of the franchise. The same happened after the release of FRLG.

I completely agree. Johto was the best. I first played the Kanto region, but really got into the Johto region; movies, games, merchandise, etc. :) So many memories. Can't wait for HG/SS.

I'm glad they're really promoting Johto and the new games. Before the announcement of HG/SS I never heard anything about Johto. All the focus was on Hoenn and Sinnoh for a while. :(

Well, really, Kanto as been in more games than any region, generation one, two, three and now four.

I like that they are remaking the second generation, it was my favorite, and I'm hoping it will bring back the feeling of amazement, or remember what it was like, I felt after trying to discover every new addition they added...

I agree with you, and...

...they milked the release of Fire Red/Leaf Green release so much more. Wow, I remember not being able to keep track of all the specials.

Another possible reason for all this Johto stuff is for the newer/younger fans to experience what they missed. Believe or not, many people never got the chance to experience this region that everyone loves so much. HGSS are new adventures for many fans, and are being treated as such.

I can only hope that Hoenn gets this much hype, assuming it's going to be remade. =P

Considering the fact that they have to sell the games, the hype is really needed. :o
Nintendo is a money eater, afterall. xD;

Still, I think that jhoto really deserves this hype. As mentioned by Eivana, it was one of the perfect regions till date. There were too many reasons behind its perfection. Jhoto was teh best.
