6th Gen Traditions?

Trying to catch legendaries in a pokeball, I shall never quit that tradition!

I must be overlevelled! Audino please be in this game!

All my pokemon have to be full out attackers(with maybe one wall)

So yeah.

The traditions that I use for each new generation (and this one) are:
-Pick the Water starter on the very first playthrough
-Have a Flier
-Have the box legend on the pre-Elite 4 team, if possible

Anonygoose, Fly is a good HM too.

I myself only have one tradition: never pick the grass-type starter in any region except Johto. I'd feel like I was cheating on Chikorita, my very first pokemon. Besides, except Chikorita, grass-types always seem to turn out the worst. Bulbasaur and Treecko go on major ice-cream binges before they evolve into Venusaur and Sceptile, Turtwig has some major swelling as it evolves, (seriously, go to a doctor. Nurse Joy is always open, Turtwig!) and Snivy loses its legs. It's called prosthetic legs, people. We've had them for some time now.

First Run/most used: Bulbasaur - Chikorita - Torchic - Infernape - Oshawott

Least/never used : Squirtle - Totodile - Mudkip - Piplup - Tepig

I just realized I really don't like water starters, except for Oshawott.

Usually I don't pick a type if I REALLY REALLY like a Pokemon of that type already. For instance, I love Snivy's line, but I already had Lilligant, Leavanny, and Maractus to choose from. (Unova had the best grass pokemon!) The same can be said with Charizard, all of my favorite fire types were in Kanto, Rapidash, Arcanine, and Vulpix, so I would rather pick a Venusaur, of which, I only sorta like Vileplume, but it isn't very green, which is sort of a must for a first run especially. So really, the evolution of the starters makes a difference, but it's the release of the other available pokemon that seals the deal. I can't say I go with any type out of tradition, rather I make the best team of grass, fire, and water that I find aesthetically pleasing.

This time through, I like all of the starters.
Though, Fennekin and Chespin are the ones that really excite me.
Froakie, I could see him totally getting a king frog evolution, with a white crown and bubble robe, which might make him a contender. Thus far, there have been no grass, fire, or water reveals that have caught my eye, maybe Litleo or Skelp when they evolve. So I will begin to implement my traditional plan of attack once I figure out more about the other pokemon in the region. Fingers crossed we get SOMETHING during Smash tonight.

Peg the Master Ball at the first Pelipper I see, it began in Gen 3 when I through a Master Ball at a trainers Pelipper it was PWNing my team I was like 6 at the time so I was like "wow he is good I get him" than I didn't catch him and I hadn't saved in a while and didn't really care since I never thought I needed it later cause I caught Latios with a pokeball which when I look back now is OMFG

My tradition....

I suppose I usually only catch pokemon I'm going to use on my team during the main story. Before the 4th gen I always used to just catch pokemon whenever I felt like it but these days I usually take it easy and leave the pokemon collecting until after the main storyline.

Other traditions would be that I like having an equal amount of males and females on my team. (or 3 male/female, 2 male/female and an ungendered...if it turns out that way)

I don't have a tradition in terms of starters. For the starters I've chosen in each gen it's looking like this at the moment:

Squirtle -> Chikorita -> Torchic -> Piplup -> Oshawott -> Fennekin (maybe Chespin)

It's a mixed bag, I don't really understand how people only use one type of starter for every gen. Wouldn't that get a bit boring? I just follow what design I like the most.

Not sure if this would be a tradition, but I normally don't like using the early route pokemon that a lot of other people rely on (i.e Fletchling, Pancham) I'd rather rely on a small amount of pokemon early on and then add to my team slowly (until about the 4th-5th gym then my team is usually complete)

My team always consists of these 6 types: Grass, Fire, Water, Psychic, Ground and Flying. If I catch a Pokémon that fills up two of these needed type-slots I can use a Pokémon of an extra type (like a fairy-type or an electric-type). I'll also try to complete the pokédex.

My first game was Diamond, and I chose Turtwig.
In Soulsilver, I chose Cyndaquil, my favorite fire starter.
Followed by BW1, I chose Oshawott, also my favorite.
Then in BW2, I chose Snivy (female), my second favorite Unova starter.

I wanted to continue this pattern at first, by choosing Fennekin (female), because it automatically came off to me as a pokemon I liked. However, I ultimately decided I'm going to choose Chespin... because I legitimately chose my favorites in all previous games, forcing myself to follow this tradition wouldn't have felt right.

The only traditions I plan to follow are:
1. Only use pokemon which I plan to use in my team throughout.
2. Nickname all my pokemon.
3. Aim for a water/fire/grass core.

I do plan to start a new tradition by nick naming all of the Pokemon I plan to actually use, not just the Dexfillers that sit in my PC boxes forever. But, my Dark types, things that actually get on my team. Aside from Yveltal, since it is legendary.

Traditionally, I always:

1. Reset until my Starter is a female.
2. Try and catch more uncommon Pokemon than the ones you see everywhere for my team.
3. Nickname every single one of my Pokemon, and put a lot of thought behind the name.

This gen, I plan to

1. Use Pokemon Amie all the time :3
2. Use a Fairy Type in my runthrough.
