I'm beginning to think it's probably an undiagnosed hardware problem...
 
Not gonna install Windows 10.

I do not want my computer to break again. It always go to the Blue Screen of Death everytime I do it. I will just stick to Windows XP. *.*

Sticking with Windows XP is kinda dangerous now though, since it's been out of support for two whole years. No more patches are sent out, and any new vulnerabilities found will not get patched.

If you can, try upgrading to at least Windows 7, which retains extended support through 2020.

I will do it I guess. Even though my Laptop have Windows 7 but have terrible specs.

Speed: 4.39 GHz
Ram: 1GB
HDD Space: 200GB

BTW, When I boot my laptop it said change Laptop Charger for better performance. The problem is, my charger is working great. *.*

dunno.. worked fine 20 mins before installing the MS UPDATES (just updated the vid drivers in fact, without issue) so SOMETHING in MS's patches broke my machine.

also chkdsk G: /f on the data drive: an unspecified error occurred 696e647863686b2e 1e80 ..don't think it likes my big multi-gigabyte video files :|
 
Windows XP is able to survive still in this current era, why? Thanks to some China elite intelligence people, they still manage to make a barrier to make windows XP still usable and free from malwares.

Don't forget, people in the east are from Developing Countries and Windows 10 is a very expensive software. Not everyone has a cash to buy it, unless they able to crack Windows 7 ( They can )
 
Ah, thermal spikes on CPU while trying out a torture test on it due to not mounting the push-pin-based Cooler Master TX3 EVO properly and not noticing it for a while after getting the desktop motherboard and reinstalling the entire rig...

Wasn't half expecting things to just go almost full tilt right away, but once I redid the cooler installation, I no longer have the fans spin up real crazy upon such loads, and the CPU temps are now lower. It used to immediately spike to 80C; now it starts at a rather gentle 63C before climbing.

Though, 77C on auto isn't too comfortable, albeit I have some margin... I'll have to do it again tomorrow afternoon, to see if it's just a fluke.

But it's still going to live on, held together by the hopes and dreams of those that refuse the change.

Speaking of outdated: the only Linux OS that officially gets supported by Valve's Steam client is Ubuntu. Furthermore, in order to make sure it runs on Ubuntu, they ship their client with a couple libraries. However, since it's Linux we're talking about, other distris want their share as well, which is why there's a couple packages for those as well. Now, the problem is, that a lot of them have a different update cycle, meaning that something like Arch Linux with its approach of a rolling release modell might run into some issues with the client, because those libraries Valve shipped with their client might not be compatible anymore.

In other words: Steam broke on my system and I finally got it back working again.

I'm not sure what it was, but it basically makes Windows think you're an embedded version (Such as in ATMs) so that it can download and install security updates. It's about the only support XP has anymore since it's so common in embedded devices still.

Even with that registry hack, I'd still err on the side of caution. I know I've tried this on XP installs in VirtualBox and it somehow fucked up the functionality of the install, so I guess it's hit or miss.
 
I've recently realized that I tend to open more windows of PC than is necessary and eventually they all just end up being like 11 sessions of Viewing Index. Even worse, I've started unconsciously doing it on multiple monitors.

I run xp on my daily workstation still and have no issues.. unlike new OS's where it likes to break things and sometimes not work well with some devices its been using for yrs..

Quality MS products.

You know you live in a tropical country, with summer all year, and very high average temps every day, when the bundled Intel stock cooler fails testing, and a TX3 EVO barely cuts it on a locked Intel processor.

It does feel like liquid cooling or big tower coolers are a necessity... and since large tower coolers need clearance and look bad, I'm thinking of going liquid.

What's a good place to start with, assuming I will only have a clear 120mm rear mount for AIO cooling purposes?
 
corsair has some nice products for decent prices..
