Suggestion: Two New Sections

Well, good question. Are there any pros or cons to either? Seems like they'd both accomplish the same thing, really. xD;

Hmm, I'd have to say go with the D&D in general. There's a whole spectrum of topics that could be filed under that one subject, and sticking them all in one thread would just cause too much turmoil imo.

Ok, it seems to me people want a forum for "more mature content" to me an 18+ section would contain discussions that shouldn't be seen by younger users, do we really want that here? D&D has some more mature discussions but should we really have something that you can't put even there? Im sort of uncomfortable with the idea of that. I'm not for it. Or am I misunderstanding the idea?

That's pretty much the gist of it. However, we're not really looking into age as much as desire, if you will. COPPA kind of remedied the age-issue.

I'm not sure whether or not D&D allows this currently, but if so, whether or not there'd be a single thread or a subforum of D&D concerning such topics.

I think it does. I know it used to, but I'm not sure regarding any updated rules.

EDIT: Ok my research has revealed that yes, these topics are in fact allowed in D&D. Yay for federalism. ;;

Having an area restricted to 18+ Users is a slippery slope. Some users may create accounts to gain access to these 18+ area's. (Also I remember being (14 and) frustrated saying I have to be 16 to join!)

If there will be a thread for mature discussions it should not be limited to the users by account age. There are teenagers who have these adult thoughts, and some even adult experiences.

Have it called something like "Serious." A section where people who face real problems, or wish to share life experiences they can. The swear filter will be off only on this thread where the author, and "commenters" can use as much profanity as they want.

If this mature section was created I would also hope there would not be a thread dedicated towards 18+ Pics (I would not to see poke pics circulating on this site. As there are other communities dedicated to that material, and anybody interested in that could easily join those communities.). From all I've seen from this forum it is family safe. A forum for pokemon fans to come together, and discuss any topic from Absol is really cool to I'm addicted to porn, Me and my dad fight sometimes, or Walter White is the man.

I do agree that we need a place where people can talk about their problems and get help. We already have blogs, but I personally think that a more accessible area, a section the entire community will see while browsing PC in their day-to-day lives, could be very helpful. You should start a thread about that because I don't think it'll get enough attention here.

I don't agree, however, about lifting the swear filter. If people are having problems and they want to let it all out, the privilege of swearing could go overboard at times.

I really don't think an 18+ forum would be needed here. I think people would just use it to be inappropriate and overly sexual/LOLIMDRUNK/photos of people high and... well there are other forums for that.

A possible compromise we could talk about would be to broaden the D&D rules further, make it pretty much "anything goes", but set up a one-time "I agree to potentially see mature content" agreement page when they try to access the forum. That way nobody is caught off guard if they wander in and see a "hey PC, what's your favorite way to jerk off?" thread or whatever people want to talk about.

Favourite way to jerk off? Bahh, that's not intellectually stimulating material! That would dilute what the D&D stands for. If this should come to pass, it should be placed somewhere else.

I personally don't think that even needs to be discussed on PC, new T-Dome or not.

Well I was being sarcastic with that one.

People already talk about drug use, sex, war and violence and other things that could be deemed "mature content" in D&D. I was struggling to come up with anything that would get locked on basis of content alone. haha.

Hmm, if that is our collective understanding of "mature content" then I'd say any new section would be redundant with D&D being present. When I think of 18+ I think of discussing sex on a personal, not societal level. I don't think anything we discuss right now warrants a 18+ label.

A sub board dedicated to each individuals problem without having their thread lost in the debates of less personal problems.

As a collective the PokeCommunity is against the idea of opening a sub-board for 18+ users to share adult, and inappropriate content.

Though I do not believe Gfx suggestion was to open a sub-board for that type of content, but rather a place for PokeCommunity to go beyond general chit-chat, and discussions, and debates.

Yes I heard there are blogs for that type of stuff. I haven't seen any blogs on this site. (Granite I rarely visit other peoples pages. I do however see the threads individuals start, and I read them.)
