Has anyone noticed that there's a trainer associated with each type in Sun/Moon except for ice?

    Normal- Ilima
    Fire- Kiawe
    Water- Lana
    Grass- Mallow
    Electric- Sophocles
    Rock- Olivia
    Ground- Hapu
    Bug- Guzma
    Flying- Kahili
    Psychic- Faba
    Fighting- Hala
    Dark- Nanu
    Ghost- Acerola
    Dragon- Ryuki
    Fairy- Mina
    Poison- Plumeria
    Steel- Molayne

The closest thing to an ice trainer in the game is Sina, whom you fight only once, and that's only if you're playing Moon.

I mean....type specialists are kind of a normal thing for the franchise

my only guess is due to the lack of ice-types available in alola. sure there's the alolan forms, but as far as new species of ice-types go there is literally just one. D:

it kind of makes sense thematically; Alola is a tropical island chain, there's not much ice to be found there typically

Yeah, I understand why there are very few Ice-types. That's just probably the main reason why there isn't a trainer who specializes in them.

Like the others said, the lack of snow was the likely explanation why we had no Ice specialist in Alola. Sina however, does use Ice-types so she can qualify here as our Ice user, even if we don't battle her a lot.
