Well, I grew up around these kinds of people. Hotaru is pretty much your average Nipangirl.

Hotaru is basically that on the inside, and it'll probably show more as she grows up. She's just polite about it.
 
That's like Netto with SAO. And me with Gintama. I guess.

But that's understandable. We all have those series that are extremely close to our hearts. :p

IMO that's what makes Love Live! superior as an idol anime. No HanaKana fanboys spamming discussing threads with "OMG!!!!1111 HANAKANA~~~" . :P Granted, there are a lot of Pile fans in Love Live! discussions since she's the voice behind Maki, but most of them became fans of her because of Love Live!.

Though... other than Umi, I really don't see any other character fit for Kana.
 
Is there anyone else here who is following Sakurako-san from this season? If not, my intention of creating a thread for it would probably be of no use so I'll refrain from doing so. :p

I really like the visuals and the characters so far in the show.
 
i am and so far it's interesting. Sakurako is a quite unique and I can't wait to see her backstory unfold. Vistuals and music are great although I hope they don't overuse that "transformation" sequence too much (or at least shorten it)
 
Oh god that sequence. It looked okay in the first episode. But if they're gonna make it a continuous thing that'll happen each episode to signify her switching her "detective mode on" then that'll be nothing but cringe-worthy.

Would totally kill the scene it was placed in between. Everytime. XD;

I mean, there's already an obvious best girl, and she's the internet incarnate. And the franchise is already plenty popular. Any more popular and my wallet couldn't take the skyrocketing merch prices. :(
 
Started watching a bunch of Fall 2015 first episodes (mostly for short shows, since I haven't really explored a lot of the other, longer shows yet). Thoughts:

Anime De Training! Ex - It's an educational show about exercise. It has light comedy and it's more obvious hook is the cute instructor girl who makes sexy sounds when she does the exercises and constantly mentions and gropes her modestly sized chest. It's 4 minutes and not super entertaining, but the instruction's on point and the best thing about the show is hearing the characters say "Ultra Super Special Soft" in glorious Engrish.

Brave Beats - 2 seasons ago there was a show called Tribe Cool Crew. It was a show about dancing, and so me and some friends watched it for novelty purposes (only about 2 or 3 episodes). The character designs were strange and it was clearly meant for smaller kids, for the most part not being entertaining unless you were really, REALLY into dancing. Needless to say, Brave Beats, another dancing anime, immediately caught my attention. This show ****ing blows TCC away, and it's made by the same people. It's meant for a slightly older crowd and uses the "Collect the Skill McGuffin Orbs that are possessing people to-" trope as its story hook, and is essentially an Action anime where the characters attack with dance. This particular episode involves a kid who likes to run, so he gets possessed by a McGuffin Orb in hopes of being the best runner and...well, I won't spoil it, but the end result is pretty priceless.

Is the show good? Um...I mean...I dunno if I'd recommend it. I got a kick out of it, but not for the same reason that other people would. But if you like campy as hell shows with silly concepts and ass (because, for some reason, every single character in this show has a pronounced rearend), it's worth giving a look.

Hakone-chan - It's a harem. Guy goes to shrine, gets blackmailed by a spirit, and she starts following him around. It's a comedy. If I don't sound excited, it's because the show has milquetoast humor sudden, out of nowhere ecchi set to no music and few sound effects. And the characters are...yup. Granted, it's a 3 1/2 minute show, but even Danchigai managed to have some sort of character in that time.

Komori Can't Decline! - God, these short anime are easy to watch. Komori is an adaptation of Jim Carrey's Yes Man a show about a tall pair of kneesocks with unfortunate breasts who just can't say no. Well, it's not so much that she can't so much as that she enjoys saying yes. Put simply, this is a show about suffering. Komori is suffering. But comedy is also suffering, so it should go with this show nicely. I dunno if I'd say this show is funny or not since it's the shortest show this season (running 2 minutes including the ending theme) and this episode was purely setup. I'll follow it, though; it has potential.

Owarimonogatari - I suppose this would belong here since I did watch it, albeit not recently. Same with Teekyu, I guess, so it's warranted. Here are my eloquent and unabridged thoughts on episode one. *AHEM*

Which would normally be the bane of my existence. But Monogatari makes math fun. Plus it's somewhat related to Game Design, so I'm on board.

Haikyuu!! Second Season - I'll start this off by saying that I haven't seen season one. At all. I jumped into this one fully knowing that there was a season's worth of info that would lead to a different experience and decided to go with this regardless. So what do I think? I like it. The animation's nice and the rotoscoping is used appropriately so that it fits in line with the smoother animation, allowing them to efficiently add in some nice, clean animation for mundane things (which is good). I really like the energy that they brought this episode. The show has a very good grasp of how to portray speed and impact in regards to volleyball. Dunno if I'll follow this yet, but I definitely did enjoy what I saw here. Extra points for the Violin/Drum BGM.

Also, Kageyama's "***** Please" face. I don't have the picture and I'm sad that I don't, but...thank you, Haikyuu. Just...thank you.

JK-MESHI - An...educational (?) short show about...cooking (?) and...history (?)...I think. Or maybe it's just cooking. Put bluntly, the show looks like it was made with GIMP and Flash. And in the most literal way possible, this show almost isn't even anime. I mean that in the most literal, textbook sense, as it's barely even animation at all. It's...I mean...

...Oh God...

Sakurako - If you like shows where people say "Naruhodo" a lot for whatever reason, this show's for you! The soundtrack's pretty great and Sakurako's pretty adorable. My soul dropped a little when the show opened to a teenage male voice, but the dynamic between the two may just prove to be infectious enough for me to let it slide. I have my worries, but this show's off to a pretty solid start. As I always say, though, "It takes two."

Durarara X2 Ten - Mentioned before that this show, for me, would be a Fall anime because the dub comes out a season later. What do I think? Well, first off, the opening's absolutely fantastic (my favorite of the DRRR! openings, knocking Complication, the song that got me into the show in the first place, right off it's throne). The ending's good, too. Mikado kicks me in the nether region and shouts obscenities at me for not believing he had what it took to be a character worth being interested in, and...eh, I can't really say much because spoilers. But I am liking it. Right off the bat, I like it more than the previous season. I have seen more than just episode 1 but...well, I can't discuss it in the thread for it because they're a good deal ahead of me.

So yeah. Two episodes is my minimum for determining whether I'll like a show (it varies, of course), but taste testing 2+ episodes when I've barely scratched the surface of this season as it is would be pretty unrealistic. As it stands, the other shows I plan to check out are Anti-Magic, Comet Lucifer, MSG Orphans, and possibly Asterisk War. Maybe The Perfect Insider as well.

How far are you in all of these? I gotta know. I'm actually watching every single one save for DRRR!! because I finished the most recent season on Thursday, so I gotta know what'd be spoilers for you and what isn't. I'm at least 2 or 3 deep in all of these (except Brave Beats; haven't watched episode 2 yet), so I have some counterpoints on some of these shows.

Goddammit, thought I replied to this.

Save for Teekyu and DRRR! I haven't seen more of any of these. Some of them I watched while this post was in the making.

But, save for exceptional cases, I give all shows that I want to try two episodes minimum. That number varies, of course, but my point is that regardless of the show, I'll be spending at least a little more time with all of them.
