I'm going to do a fighting Monotype Challenge on Pokemon Platinum.

Update for my Normal Challenge:
- Traveled along the route to Mt. Moon.
- Caught a Clefairy in Mt. Moon, ground it to Lv18 to match the rest of my team.
- Went through Mt. Moon, got a Moon Stone along the way and evolved Clefairy, since Clefairy's Gen 1 level-up moves suck.
- Beat Gary, went through Nugget Bridge, reached Bill, went back to Cerulean, beat the Cerulean Gym.

2nd and final update for the second (2nd generation) part of my Ultimate Flying Monotype.

• Shobat soloed Erika.
• Also got the Machine Part, Zap Cannon, the Kanto Radio Card, etc.
• Crimson soloed Misty.
• Crimson also soloed Brock.
• Same happened to Blaine.
• Took all three to defeat Blue.
• Finally defeated Red after a very long battle. :D

Update for Final Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Water).

Update #2 on LeafGreen.

Spoiler:

• Went through Rock Tunnel to Lavender Town (Clefable had Flash so it was easy).
• Rushed over to Celadon City, where I got the Eevee and named him Aquaman.
• Evolved Aquaman into Vaporean with a Water Stone (forgot screenshot).
• Taught Aquaman Water Pulse, then trained him up in the Rocket Hideout.
• Giovanni went down without a whimper to Water Pulse.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Then I went back to Lavender Town, fighting all the trainers I skipped earlier.
• Beat Tyson pretty easily in Pokemon Tower, mostly with Poseidon.
• Scaled Pokemon Tower and saved Mr. Fuji, who gave me the Poke Flute.
• I went south and killed Snorlox, then got the Super Rod!
• With the Super Rod in hand, I fished up Frogman the Poliwhirl (Route 6) and Ruby the Staryu (Vermilion City).
• I taught Ruby Psychic and Frogman Brick Break, then started training them up.
• I eventually evolved Ruby into Starmie when it learned Bubblebeam (forgot screenshot again).
• Went to Silph Co to fight Team Rocket again, and after beating half the bad guys, I took on Tyson again and won.
• I then received Rider the Lapras!
• Trained up Rider on the rest of the Rockets, and also evolved Frogman into Poliwrath.

Seeing as I have nothing to do recently... I'll do this challenge with a Fire-type pokemon :) - I'll do this with an emulator. (Starting with Gen I and working my way up to V)

Alright then, I suppose I'll start on the 3rd portion of my Ultimate Flying Monotype. I'll be playing on Ruby.

Spoiler:

• Named myself Aero, as I have been for this whole UMC.
• Got Mudkip, since it can learn Waterfall and Dive. Also, this means my rival chooses Treecko, which makes the game a bit more simple.
• Defeated Brendan.
• Caught a Wingull. Named it "Waterjaw".
• Helped Wally.
• Caught a Taillow. Named it "Sparkle".
• Defeated Roxanne after a bit of a struggle.
• Got to Dewford.
• Delivered the letter and caught a Zubat, named it "Shobat".
• Took out Brawly easily.
• Delivered what I was supposed to deliver and took out some Magmas.
• Shobat evolved into Golbat.
• Cleared the first level of the Trick House.
• Sparkle evolved into Swellow.
• Also, Waterjaw evolved into Pelipper.
• Defeated Wattson a bit easier than I expected.
• On my way to Fallarbor, I caught a Skarmory and named it "Clashy".
• Defeated Norman with a team effort. Saved for the night.

Quick question: We're allowed to make cuts to our team as better Pokemon become available, right? I want to have only 3 battle Pokemon due to the fact that by training only 3, they tend to outrank gym leaders by a few levels.

Also, making an update now. Since the Cerulean Gym, here's what's happened:
- Beat Rocket and got Dig, which I taught to Raticate.
- Went to Vermilion, fighting trainers on the way.
- Fought trainers east of Vermilion and caught Pokemon to bring my Pokedex up to 10.
- Went through the SS Anne part, beat Gary, got Cut.
- Caught an Oddish and named it "CUT SLAVE" appropriately.
- Beat Vermilion Gym, taught Thunderbolt to Clefable
Team is now:

- Hyper Fang

Posting another update for my Normal challenge. After this I'm gonna make some progress on my First Route Challenge.
- Caught a Drowzee named "FLASHSLAVE" to get through Rock Tunnel.
- Went to Celadon fighting trainers along the way.
- Beat Rocket Hideout portion.
- Got TMs from the roof of the Dept. Store, then went and got Psychic from Saffron, taught Clefable Ice Beam and Psychic.
- Fought Celadon Gym. Erika got swept with Clefable's Psychic and Ice Beam.

First Update:

• I started up Pokemon Platinum and Chose new game.
• Chose the female protagonist and named her Dawn.
• I named my rival Daisuke.
• After proceeding through most of the begging part, I was now able to pick a starter.
• I ended up choosing Chimchar.
• After quickly defeating Daisuke and his Piplup, I receive the running shoes from my mother.
• I'm suddenly stopped by Daisuke as I was about to leave Twinleaf.
• He mentions something about a legendary pokemon and Lake Verity but I didn't pay any attention.
• At Lake Verity we see Cyrus rambling about time and Dawn and her rival are obviously.
• A while later I'm about to Head into Sandgem Town with my level ten Chimchar to get to Professor Rowan's lab.
• I'm greeted by Lucas on my way in Town.
• Nicknamed my Chimchar Pyrus.
• I receive the Pokedex.
• I received TM27 on my way out of the lab.
• Lucas then shows me around the town.
• I heal up Pyruus at the pokemon Center and then visit my house.
• I receive the Journal and not long after am tasked with delivering the Town Map to Daisuke.
• Later on Lucas shows me how to capture pokemon and I receive five pokeballs.
• Ran into Lucas at the entrance of Jubilife with my now level eleven Chimchar with me.
• We run into Looker on Lucas's way to lead me to the Pokemon School.
• Obtain the Vs. Recorder from Looker.
• Headed North of Jubilife to train my Chimchar into a Monferno.
• Chimchar evolved and is now my first Fighting Type.
• I then made sure to heal up Pyrus before saving the game for now.

Update for Final Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Water).

Update #3 on LeafGreen.

Spoiler:

• Went down Cycling Road to Fuchsia City. Torrent evolved into Blastoise (forgot the screenshot though).
• After I got Surf in the Safari Zone and Strength from the Warden, I taught Surf to everyone but Poseidon and Strength to Torrent.
• Beat the rest of the trainers around Fuchsia, then took on the gym.
• Koga went down easily to Ruby's Psychic.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• I then surfed from Fuchsia to the Seafoam Islands, where I killed Articuno.
• Exited the Seafoam Islands and arrived at Cinnabar Island.
• After I beat the rest of the water trainers, I explored the Pokemon Mansion and found a Secret Key.
• The gym was a joke with my water team. Torrent easily soloed Blaine.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• I declined Bill's invitation to go the Sevii Islands and flew back to Saffron, where I beat the Fighting Dojo with Poseidon and Frogman.
• Then I took on the gym. Sabrina was beaten by Aquaman, who used Bite to great effect.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Then I went back to Cinnabar and went to the Sevii Islands (I didn't go before because I wanted to use Rock Smash).
• Explored Mt. Ember (die, Moltres!), rescued Lostelle and delivered the Meteorite, then sailed back to Cinnabar.
• Finally it was time to take on the final gym.
• Once again, the gym was weak to water, so I cruised through the trainers, then beat Giovanni easily with Frogman and Torrent.

• Then I went through all the badge checkpoints and arrived at Victory Road, where I saved.

I've beaten the 4th Gym. Problem with fire type monotype challenge in Gen I is, you don't get to meet another fire type until you pass Rock Tunnel... so my Charizard became quite overlevelled before I caught a Growlithe... (I had to raise Charmeleon to lv33 before fighting Misty @_@ in order for it to learn slash) and now Arcanine is becoming overlevelled as well :3

I was wondering if I could do the Ultimate Challenge, just for Gens I-III? I just can't be bothered to use the DS Emulators because they're slow in general and the fast forward toggle doesn't work well.

Oh, and can I do FRLG instead of RBY? Or no remakes?

If not, I'll be starting an Electric Mono in Fire Red.
