Lorelei:
- Nidoking at level 54 won the gold medal in his taking down of Dewgong, Cloyster, Dewgong and Jynx. He badly damaged Lapras before going down.
- Fortunately, Lapras' berry healed it just enough to keep Lorelei from using a potion on it and Nidoqueen took it down with a Superpower.
Bruno:
- Both Onix fell to Nidoking's surf.
- Marowak took out Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan without difficulty.
- Sandslash took down Machamp after several rounds due to Bruno feeding it Full Restores.
Agatha:
- Nidoqueen made liberal use of Bite taking down both Gengars and the Haunter.
- Rhydon got some action defeating both Golbat and Arbok.
Lance:
- Nidoking took down Gyarados, both Dragonair's, Aerodactyl and Dragonite with his Ice Beams.
Rival:
- Rhydon shot down the Pidgeot.
- Blastoise ravaged my team with Hydropumps until he THANKFULLY ran out of them. Once he was reduced to using Bite I revived Nidoking and took him down.
- Exeggutor and Alakazam fell to Nidoking's Megahorn.
- Arcanine and Rhydon fell to Sandslash's Earthquake.
Very useful and good all around attacker. Has a good physical moveset from TM's even if it doesn't learn a ground attack move on it's own. Will probably use Sandslash through any of the other games he's available in.
Absolutely my MVP. He has the highest special attack of my team and can learn the key special attack moves via TM that other ground types just can't access. Nidoking was the force that let me defeat the elite four. Especially Lorelei and Rival's Blastoise.
:t031: L.51 Minxie the Bashful Nidoqueen
Bite / Body Slam / Shock Wave / Superpower
Was pretty strong in the earlier parts of the game but ended up becoming Nidoking's backup. Often if I needed to switch after Nidoking went down she would be my choice. While not as powerful as Nidoking, Nidoqueen filled some gaps for type moves that Nidoking didn't use. (Fight and Dark in particular).
:t051: L.50 Duchess the Adamant Dugtrio
Rock Slide / Mud-Slap / Magnitude / Dig
In all honesty, felt like a total waste of a slot. I hardly made use of Dugtrio throughout the game execpt to level it up. While she was really fast, she lacked the defense and HP to take any kind of damage. The only action she saw during the elite four was when I swapped her in to take a fall while I gave Nidoking a Max Revive.
:t105: L.52 Cynthia the Lonely Marowak
Bonemerang / Sandstorm / Headbutt / Hidden Power (Bug)
A very powerful sweeper. With a thick club and Bonemerang she could consistantly 1-shot pokemon at her level and above. I'd never used a Marowak before this run and I was blown away by that power. She also had the highest special defense of my team which allowed her to shrug off some of the powerful special attacks that would wipe out her team mates.
:t112: L.50 Aegis the Adamant Rhydon
Rock Blast / Double-Edge / Horn Drill / Dig
Massive attack, defense and HP made Rhydon an excellant tank and physical attacker. He replaced Graveler on my team. I wanted to give him more showtime but his low special defense made him too risky to devote levels to for the Elite Four. He did some use against Rival, however.
its been a while since i updated this one, since i haven't made THAT much progress in a single sitting with this one, so some of this info is a few days old
-beat Wake. Drifblim did most of it, but Gliscor ko'd Quagsire
-chased the grunt and got the secret potion from Cynthia
-Healed the Psyducks and also bought some moomoo milk
-Headed north and found TM30, sweet!
-Beat Cyrus in Solaceon
-Got HM03, which i taught to Finneon
-Stopped by the valley windworks and picked up TM24
-Went to Iron Island to train. upon leaving everyone was level 40
-Beat Byron
-Listened to Rowan's lecture
-Before heading to Lake Valor, once again employed the move tutor, teachring Gliscor Fire Fang to deal with those annoying steel/psychics, and to hopefully help with Candice.
-Beat Saturn at Lake Valor
-beat Mars at Lake Verity
That's all for today's update.
Current Team
I've played LG for like 4 hours, now I'm in Cerulean, ready to take on Rock Tunnel!
As far as I'm now, the Gym battles were easier, except for the Brock one, it was a pain.
Ah, I've also decided to add Murkrow to my team, in exchange of Mew.
EDIT: Passed Rock Tunnel, defeated Trainers in Routes 8 and 10. Also completed Rocket Hideout, Pokèmon Tower and defeated Celadon Gym. Bought a Leaf Stone, and TMs Fire Blast, Iron Tail and Shadow Ball (last two from Game Corner).
~ Lv. 35 ~ Iron Tail, Faint Attack, Dig, Confuse Ray
Ok, I've done a RBY Monotype ith Normal types on my other account (pleryt16), so if I do a Ultimate would I have to restart? Because I want to do an uktimate Normal challenge
HUGE FINAL update on Crystal portion of Ultimate Flying Monochallenge. Crystal is complete!
Blackthorn Gym → Red:
Spoiler:
Challenged the Blackthorn Gym.
While in here, Venom finally evolved into Crobat! :pink_love:
Then Claire was up with her dreaded Kingdra.
*image removed*
This battle actually wasn't too bad. The Dragonairs went down easily enough, even with paralysis. Venom was able to use confusion to her advantage against Kingdra, and Wing Attack is as good as ever.
After the Dragon's Den stuff, I got the final badge and Dragonbreath (sold).
Before I went on the road to Indigo Plateau, I stopped by Goldenrod for a couple Proteins.
Surfed east from New Bark Town and eventually made it to Victory Road.
In Victory Road, I found Earthquake! Taught it to Thrash....WHAT!!!! Thrasher can't learn Earthquake?!?!?!? LAME! He can learn it in the future generations! *whine*
Since no one else could learn it either, I had to sell it. :'(
At the exit, Hal showed up, wanting a fight.
*image removed*
His team is really just uninspiried by now. Sneasel is just pathetic, and his Golbat needs to evolve if this team wants any shot at being respectable. Magneton gave me problems as usual offensively, but it only knows Thundershock, so it wasn't too much trouble.
After kicking his ass, it was time to challenge the Elit...wait, no.
Went back home again to go to Goldenrod.
Got some more vitiamins and also got Return as well. Taught it to Skylar, who gets STAB (153 effective power FTW) and needed a move to improve his repertoire.
NOW it was time to challenge the Elite Four.
For some reason I didn't get screenshots here, only Lance's. Oh well.
Entering the Elite Four, my team consisted of: L41 Venom, L52 Blade, L52 Thrasher, and L53 Skylar.
Will was able to take a couple members down with the powerful Psychic, but I was able to beat him pretty easily notwithstanding.
Koga was easy. Blade used Sword Dance a couple times against Ariados, and after taking 3 damage from Giga Drain, OHKOed the rest of Koga's team with Wing Attack without taking any more damage. He wasn't able to outspeed Crobat, but Crobat used Double Team, and Wing Attack hit through it.
Bruno was easy as well. Wing Attack was good for Hitmontop, then I switched to Thrasher, who was Thrashing Bruno's team to death before succumbing to confusion, and Venom took care of Machamp and Hitmonlee.
Karen was annoying. I led with Blade, who got confused after a Swords Dance, which meant nothing but trouble. He hit himself three times and died. The rest of her team wasn't too difficult. Houndoom was an annoyance, but Venom confused him and I was able to pass through the Elite four easily.
Now it was Lance's turn.

This was difficult to say the least. I don't have any Ice moves, having sold the Icy Wind from Pryce by accident, and I had to use a few healing items and revive Thrasher, who was the only one able to take the hits from Dragonite and his Outrage. Eventually Thrasher killed him and then took care of Charizard with a couple Surfs to make me the Champion!
After the credits, I was back in Johto, where I got the call to go to Kanto.
Did the S.S. Aqua trip, then arrived in Vermilion City.
Immediately challenged Lt. Surge and his Electric Pokemon.
*image removed*
This was a bit difficult, as you can imagine. Thrasher went down to a single Thunderbolt + Quick Attack (arg), and Magneton gave me some trouble with Zap Cannon, but Return finished him, and Skylar was able to end it as my last Pokemon alive.
After I beat Surge, I went north to Saffron.
Got Psychic (sold, damn it), then went west to Celadon to buy some vitamins, maxing out Skylar and Venom's Protien uses.
Challenged the gym there.
*image removed*
It was a piece of cake, as you can imagine. One-shotted all the trainers with Venom's Wing Attack before getting to Erica, where he took an Acid from Victreebel and that was it. Wing Attack owned here.
Went back to Saffron and challenged the gym there as well.
*image removed*
Sabrina's Psychic Pokemon are weak defensively, so it was easy too. Thrasher went down due to confusion, so Blade cleaned up.
Went east to Lavender Town and went through Rock Tunnel to the Power Plant. Found Steel Wing, taught it to Blade.
Fixed the Power Plant, defeating the trainers on Rt. 9 in the process.
Defeated the faux Nugget Bridge and crashed Misty's date.
Challenged the Cerulean Gym.
*image removed*
Starmie gave me some trouble with Ice Beam, especially since Thrasher got frozen. But her Pokemon were underleveled, so I was able to win.
Flew back to Lavender to get the Expn Card, then went south to wake up Snorlax.
When I got there, I realized that I had never gotten the Radio Card from Goldenrod. *smacks forehead*
Went down to Fuschia City anyway and challenged the gym.
*image removed*
Just a crappy gym here. Her best Pokemon is at L40! No comment.
After beating Janine, beat the trainers on Cycling Road. Thrasher learned Hyper Beam!
Went to Saffron and did the Copycat quest to get the Rail Pass.
Took the train to Goldenrod and got the Radio Card.
Went back to Kanto, flew to Viridian and woke up Snorlax and killed it.
Went through Diglett's Cave and then went south through the leveled Forest :'(.
Passed through Viridian, making a stop at the Trainer House on the way.
Reached Pallet Town, then Surfed to Cinnabar Island.
Talked to Blue, who did his best mellow voice.
Surfed east to Seafoam Islands and...
*image removed*
...destroyed Blaine with my overleveled Thrasher's Surf. The damage you see there is from trainers outside Seafoam lol.
Flew to Pewter City and took on Brock.
*image removed*
Elected to not use Thrasher here as he was above others in my team. Skylar and Blade hit hard with Return and Steel Wing, and Venom's Confuse Ray worked wonders.
Went east to Mt. Moon, where Hal was waiting for me once more.
*image removed*
Still a crap team, if a bit higher leveled. Nothing new to report.
Flew to Viridian again and beat Cal in the Trainer House again (playing at night lol).
After a couple Pokegear rebattles and teaching Venom Fly, I was ready to challenge Blue for the final Kanto badge.
*image removed*
Blue wasn't too hard, actually. I was a bit underleveled here, as there is a big jump from the rest of the gym leaders here. I was able to take advantage of type advantages, and Rhydon has a crappy moveset (Fury Attack? Really? EPIC FAIL).
After beating Blue, the next thing I need to do was beat Red. But I was nowhere near strong enough to challenge him, so I went to Indigo Plateau to do some Elite Four grinding.
When I was just about to challenge them, Hal came out of nowhere!
*image removed*
His team still has a Sneasel, but Crobat is there now, which makes his team much better. However, he was still no match for me, underleveled as he was.
After beating the Elite four several times and getting my team up to L58, I felt ready to go to Mt. Silver and challenge Red.
First I bought Hyper Beam from the Celadon Game Corner and taught it to Skylar (STAB FTW!), and also went back to Goldenrod and taught Thrasher Thunderbolt via the move tutor, thinking about Blastoise.
Then I went to Mt. Silver.
In the Idol's house, I got another Steel Wing, which I taught to Venom.
Now it was time to challenge Red!
*image removed*
After getting all the items, I found Red at the peak of Mt. Silver.
*image removed*
This battle took a while. I got beat once, but was able to pull it out the second time. Blade and Thrasher grew to L59 during the fight.
Some highlights of the fight: After Pikachu (Venom+Skylar), Blastoise (Skylar+Thrasher), Espeon (Thrasher+Blade), and Charizard (Blade+Revived Thrasher) were taken down at the expense of three of my Pokemon, I used a Max Revive on Blade, thinking that he would be able to take 2 Body Slams. One Swords Dance later, I was wrong. I then used my final Max Revive on Venom (because of Confuse Ray) just before Snorlax killed Thrasher with Body Slam. As my final Pokemon, Venom got into an endless battle against Snorlax after Venom's first Steel Wing boosted her Defense, enabling her to stay alive after 2 Body Slams. Confuse Ray was used like 7 times against Snorlax, who kept pulling Rest out just in time. Finally, I was able to Revive Blade and switched him in at the beginning of a Rest. Blade was able to get off 2 Sword Dances while Snoralx used Amnesia. One Wing attack wasn't enough, but Snorlax used Amnesia again, allowing Blade to kill him with the second Wing Attack. After that it was smooth sailing, as Venusaur was the last one left. After another Swords Dance, Wing Attack OHKOed Venusaur. Finally it was over, and my ticket to the Hoenn region was punched!
************************************************* Most Valuable Pokemon:
Johto MVP:Thrasher. Even though he was the latest addition, he was able to take on foes that the other three were just unable to, especially against Jasmine, and his good overall defensive stats allowed him to take hits the others couldn't. Thrash was the power move for him. Blade was a close second due to his showing against Whitney's Miltank and overall badassness.
Elite Four MVP:Thrasher. He was the only one able to take on Lance, and Surf was needed against Aerodactyl and Charizard.
Kanto MVP:Skylar. Return made him an essential part of my team. He was the one to beat Surge and also finished off Blue. His STAB Quick Attack enabled him to beat some foes even while paralyzed.
Red MVP:Venom. Confuse Ray and Steel Wing saved me and enabled Blade to set up for the final blow.
LVP:None. For a time in Johto, Skylar was weak after the first few gyms because his moveset was bad, and even after I got Fly, he wasn't able to take on as many Pokemon as the others. Venom had Confuse Ray and Bite, which made up for her relatively weaker defensive stats as Golbat, and after she evolved into Crobat, her speed was off the charts. Once Skylar got Return, though, he was one of my best Pokemon, especially in Kanto.
Ok, im going to start an ULTIMATE mono type challenge and i shall pick POISON as my chosen type. Im goin to start my journey on POCKET MONSTERS GREEN (yes, in japanese) on ROM.

i thought someone might go for that actually! ok, Bug it is. Time to dig out my shorts, whicker hat and net and get catching!
off to bed now, will start playing tomorrow night and post some stuff up. Now how can i take sprite pictures from (for instance) a pokemon wiki and inbed them in a post. Do i have to host the picture speratly, or can i pop them straight in or what?
OK, since noone answered me about my question, I'm just going to go ahead and start an ultimate with Normal, starting with Silver 'cause I already did Red.
After getting my Snag Machine back I went and found Mirror. B and snagged his Nosepass. I then went to the Chipper Key Lair and snagged Zook's Zangoose. I then continued in to the Lair where I snagged a bunch of Pokemon including a Pidgeotto. I am currently still in the Lair wondering when Golbat will evolve.
Shadow Pokemon Snagged: 40, Purified: 28.

Ok, now I defeated the Pokèmon League, and I'm taking on the Sevii Islands quest, while training a lot.
Do I have to beat E4 again and catch Mewtwo to complete Kanto challenge?
EDIT: Kanto challenge finished. Team Rocket quest completed, defeated Elite 4 again, and catched also Mewtwo, Suicune, and the Legendary Birds.
OK so, started up the Pocket Monsters Green ROM (this is my first time playing this one). Looks very simmilar to Pocket Monsters Red and very simmilar also to pokemon red and blue. Such a nice feeling starting these early games up. The time pokemon red came out i was about 10 or so and they were were the best days of my life. Super Game Boy in the Snes, pokemon up on the TV and no work to worry about! anyway here we go..
(disclaimer. I dont speak Japanese, not well anyway. I am playing a JAp version to assist me with my japanese studies) il try to translate as i can as we go along)
-Named myself Satoshi, oponent names Shigeru
-Took potion from my home pc, always take the potion
-Picked Hitokage so my opponent would take Zenigame, whos neither super efective nor weak against bug types.
-With Zenigame beaten i started off on the road to Tokiwa city!.... Oh that was quick!
No sooner do i arrive then a parcel is shoved into my hand by some rude merchant screaming japanese at me, Sheesh! i only wanted to buy some pokeballs!
-OK, so parcel in hand i trudge solemly back to Masara town.
-Traded parcel for Pokedex, Back to Tokiwa and on to finally catch some bugs!
-So far spent about 5 minutes walking back and forth in the wods. Feel like a right 'ol pervert. All i come across are Transel and Cocoons!
there no good, cant spend all my battles using Katakunaru (harden)!
-Finally a Lv 4 Caterpie appears! nows my chance. Cap turned 180 degrees? check! heroic stance? check! Pokeball thrown and Caterpie caught. Getto de ze!!!!
-Quick trip back to the Pokecentre, heal up and deposit Hitokage. Now to try and catch a Beedle with my Caterpie...
Current Team...
