Did start a Flying Solo-Monotype challenge with Pidgeot, but dumped it after Morty's Gym for a Water Solo-Monotype with Vaporeon. Current statistics:

Been grinding for the last 36 hours (Not non-stop). Lucky Egg helped tons. Finally going to proceed to battle Chuck at Cianwood.

I Finished Gold! My Garydos' Toxic and my Lanturn's Attract cheaped the final battle with Red.

I trained Marissa and the SS Anne till she Evolved
Defeated all the trainers on board including my rival
Got Cut taught it to Ms.Nido my poison HM Slave
Taught Marissa Dig and trained in Vermilion gym
Returned to Cerulean got a bike and made my way to Rock tunnel
Defeated all trainers on the way to and inside the Rock Tunnel ran out of Razor leafs
Arrived in Lavender Healed up and Headed out
defeated everybody on the way to Celadon
Started to recover the Silph. Scope but decided to Train Dorcas more
Currently training Dorcas by rematching the Gambler with the Poliwags and Poliwhirl

Went through Mt Moon, leveling Dratini up to 20 and teaching it TM 12 (Water Gun, which I completely forgot was there actually)

Healed in Cerulean then beat Blue and the 5 trainers on Nugget Bridge (I think that's what it's called...)

Healed again then stormed Cerulean Gym, using Para-Wrap spam to take out Misty, thus earning the Cascade Badge and leveling Dratini up to 24.

Stormed the rest of Cerulean Cape, visiting Bill etc etc, dying once due to poison... X( Leveled to 26.

Headed to Vermillion, dying once again due to poison. Taking the hint I bought more potions and some antidotes.

Got to Vermillion eventually and blazed the SS. Anne, teaching Dratini Body Slam and Bubblebeam, and leveling to 29.

Caught Pidgeotto (fly slave) and Abra (tele slave) then went back and got the free Charmander and taught it Cut. (can you believe Rattata and Raticate can't learn cut?! >.<)

Cut through the bush and challenged Vermillion Gym, Dratini leveled to 30 and tried to learn Slam (denied since I have Body Slam -.-') then after the battle it evolved!

Thrashed Lt.Surge with ma 'suped' up dragon with 2 Body Slams TO THE FACE!

Taught Dragonair TM 24, Thunderbolt and saved in Vermillion City!

Amph vs. Snorlax: Iron Tail, Body Slam, Iron Tail, Body Slam, Strength killed it.
Venusaur vs. Bayleef: Hyper Potion for Amph, Venusaur charges and uses solar beam.
Amph vs. Venusaur: Charge, Fire Punch, Solar Beam, Fire Punch, Charge, Fire Punch killed it.

Blastoise vs. Lanturn: Surf did less than half to me, I healed Amph, Surf almost killed me, I Sparked, surf killed me.

And after exactly a month of downtime, the list of players in the Ultimate Monotype is once again updated. While no one has finished the new five-generation challenge in that time, honourable mention goes to myrrhman, who finished the four-generation Ghost challenge, and tachikaze316, for being the first to start the Isshu leg of the challenge. Congrats! :D

And on another note, after finally playing through all of White Version, I've now decided that it should be concluded upon defeating the Elite Four the second time. Those who've played it already should know why this is, and as for the rest of you...take the challenge and find out! :D

Okay, I'm nowhere near ready for my Elite Four rematch yet, just a quick update. Caution, spoilers ahead.

Spoiler:

-Caught a new Keith after realising mine was taking too long to level up. Dropped Chill in the Daycare Center and started grinding.
-Took a break from grinding to track down TMs.
-New Keith evolved..in America!
-Got bored of grinding everyone else around level 50. Headed out to battle trainers with 1 hit KO moves and a 14 level advantage, whee!
-Headed to Kagome Town, the trainers on the way were surprisingly easy
-Rode South to Sazanami Town, there's something I want to do here, but it's gonna have to wait 'til later...much later. *Apparently what I wanted to do here, or rather who I wanted to battle is not part of the challenge* :(
-Started grinding (very slowly) in Raimon City (yay, ~20 trainers a day I can rematch)
-Decided to try to get the Heart Scales needed to teach my team some new moves...not fun.

If I understand your question correctly, you only have to play through one of Red, Blue, Yellow, FireRed, or LeafGreen. You don't have to play through all five of them.
