  • i'm still not able to start on pearl, but i'm already planning a bit on my team. according to bulbapedia, theres the shinx line, pacharisu and the pikachu line in the d/p-sinnoh dex, so i dont really have much choice, only with fire it would be worse i think... so my planned team is:

Luxray as physical sweeper with crappy movepool (Crunch, Spark/Thunder Fang, Iron Tail, Return(?)) the other elemental fangs would be nice, but i would need to breed fo them, with a hippowdon, which isnt easy to get and then i would have to train the new luxray up to the level of the rest of the team, that cant be worth it, with this version things should still go faster
Pacharisu as support thing & revive fodder (mainly revive fodder i think) (Super Fang, Toxic, Sweet Kiss, Charm/Light Screen)
Raichu as main pokemon and mixed sweeper (like in emerald) (Thunderbolt, Dig, Brick Break, Grass Knot) charge beam would also be nice, but i prefer some type coverage, since this will probably be my main problem (together with raichus and luxrays useless defence stats, anything i cant ohko will be a serious threat for me)
hm slaves will probably be: chimchar (cut, strength rock smash, rock climb), starly (fly, defog), psyduck (surf, waterfall)
maybe i wont need starly at all, since defog is only against annoying lowered accuracy and fly is only useful, but not necessary

If you're patient, anything is possible. XD

I remember my brother got a Pidgeot before challenging Misty. :P
for 3rd evolution stage before misty you don't have to be too patient, if you use only one pokemon and do the whole ss.anne quest before challenging her. but if you reach this stage before even doing the nugget bridge or at least getting the dig tm, that requires A LOT of patience which i wouldnt have, i would just attempt misty again and again till i beat her by luck xD ... or give up if it gets too annoying

  • I've made alot of progress. Why are there so many Bug Catchers who don't know that evolving your Pokemon actually makes them better? So many Caterpies and Metapods defeated along the way. Nevermind that though.

    Journal:
-Beat Gary again. Almost as easy as last time, even with a flying type Pokemon in his Arsenal.
-Defeated all the trainers in Viridian Forest and then Brock, picking up a Boulder Badge.
-Defeated all the trainers outside/inside Mt Moon, including Jessie and James. Captured my Paras! It's a ***** to train though.
-After training Paras and giving him the Rare candies I picked up, I headed straight for the Nugget Bridge, defeated Gary and all the trainers. Captured my Venonat! These bug Pokemon are popping up quickly. Awesome.
-Trained up Venonat, who was slightly easier than Paras. Headed for Misty's Gym.
-Defeated Misty's trainers. Pathetically easy, considering I was having trouble using Venonat and Paras after the Nugget Bridge.
-Defeated Misty, and earned myself a Cascade Badge.
-Beat the stupid Rocket, making use of Paras' Leech Life on Drowzee. The actual bug type attacks in First Gen are abnormally bad. Not to mention there are only 3.
-After defeating the trainers outside Vermilion, I headed for the S.S. Anne, rubbing my hands and thinking of all the great experience I'll earn from facing all the trainers.
-Paras evolved into Parasect. However, it lacked a good move. So I taught it Body Slam
-Defeated Gary yet again. Obtained cut.
-Game saved outside Lt. Surge's Gym. He shouldn't be too difficult.

    Team:
    Spr_1y_048.png

    Venonat Level 25
    Spr_1y_047.png

    Parasect Level 25
    Spr_1y_012.png

    Butterfree Level 25

Oh, and Charmander is a HM Slave (Cut).

My next objective is to defeat Surge, pass Rock tunnel, pass Silph and get to Pinsir/Scyther. Not sure I can be bothered to win 2 lots of 6,500 coins, so I might just wait until I get to the Safari Zone. Oh, and by the way, Butterfree told me that he was never supposed to evolve from Venonat. Venonat confirmed this for me. Mystery solved.

This is incredibly fun. I'm glad I chose the bug type. Thanks for creating this challenge OP!

    Onto the Pokemon League!

    UPDATE!

    - Got a call from Prof. Elm about Team Rocket in Goldenrod.
    - Flew to Goldenrod and made quick work of all the grunts and the executives.
    - After all of that was done I flew back to Mahogany Town.
    - Headed west and defeated all the trainers.
    - Entered the Ice Cave.
    - Worked my way through Ice Cave and obtained HM06 and other items on the way.
    - Arrived in Blackthorn City.
    - Went to the mart and bought some Hyper Potions, Revives and Full Heals.
    - After that, I went straight to the gym and defeated all the trainers.
    - Defeated Clair (Suprisingly easy, Pidgeotto defeated the first Pokemon, and then it was Jumpluff all the way as she defeated the rest of the team with SlPowder + Leech Seed + Attack).
    - Went to Dragon's Den and did all of that stuff.
    - Clair handed over the Rising Badge and gave me a DragonBreath TM.
    - Went outside the shrine and collected the Dragon Fang.

    My Team -

    Pidgeotto @Pink Bow (Level 35)

    - Fly
    - Wing Attack
    - Quick Attack
    - Mud-Slap

    Butterfree @Amulet Coin (Level 35)

    - Psybeam
    - Confusion
    - Gust
    - Sleep Powder

    Jumpluff @Miracle Seed (Level 36)

    - Headbutt
    - Synthesis
    - Sleep Powder
    - Leech Seed

    Golbat (Level 35)

    - Wing Attack
    - Bite
    - Leech Life
    - Confuse Ray

    Gyarados (Level 35)

    - Surf
    - Strength
    - Dragonbreath
    - Icy Wind

    HM Slaves:

    Totodile (Cut, Surf, Whirlpool)
    Paras (Cut, Flash)
    Tauros (Surf, Strength)

I have a dilemma, should I give Gyarados a NeverMeltIce or a Dragon Fang? To power up Icy Wind or DragonBreath?

Right, so the last time I posted, my Gloom had just trashed Lt. Surge. After that, I made my way to Lavender Town with a little help from my Flash slave, Pikachu. I quickly made it to Celadon City, where I bough a Leaf Stone and evolved my precious Gloom. Then, I took on Erika. As I had predicted, she turned out to be pretty tough, but in the end, she didn't really stand a chance, being so seriously underleveled. After that, I kinda just followed that routine, you know.. I can never seem to remember in what order you do it, but anyway - I sorted out some stuff at the Game Corner, chased Team Rocket out of the Silph Co. building, helped Mr. Fiji at that spooky tower, made my way to Fuschia City, kikced Koga's ass, caught an Exeggcute at the Safari Zone, owned Sabrina, (thanks to Venusaur and Parasect) grinded like ****, evolved my Exeggcute, and then surfed to Cinnabar Island. And this is where I am now, with the following team:

    rbspr003.png

    Venusaur, Lv. 55
    - Tackle
    - Sleep Powder
    - Razor Leaf
    - Vine Whip

    rbspr047.png

    Parasect, Lv. 51
    - Cut
    - Body Slam
    - Leech Life
    - Slash

    rbspr045.png

    Vileplume, Lv. 52
    - Mega Drain
    - Sleep Powder
    - Acid
    - Petal Dance

    rbspr103.png

    Exeggutor. Lv. 51
    - Strength
    - Solarbeam
    - Psychic
    - Psywave

    Finally!
When I last posted, I was just about to challenge Blaine. He turned out to be a major disappointment - Exeggutor KO'd, like, every single Pokémon with Psychic. Anyway, directly after beating Blaine, I moved on to Viridian City to kick Giovanni's ass. He, too, was pretty friggen' easy. Then I met David on my way to the Pokémon League. He was actually quite a challenge. His Charizard nearly took out all my Pokémon. Anyway, I managed to beat him, and so I moved on to the Pokémon League. Having made it through the Victory Road, I challenged the Elite Four, like, five or six times, and then I finally won! Lorelei was easy. Bruno was easy, too. Agatha wasn't too much of a challenge. Lance was a bit of a pain in the ass. David was friggen' tough. As you might imagine, his Charizard kicked my ass a couple times. Anyways, I finally beat him. So yea, move me to Johto.

    Final team:

    rbspr003.png

    Venusaur, Lv. 65
    - Tackle
    - Sleep Powder
    - Razor Leaf
    - Solarbeam

    rbspr047.png

    Parasect, Lv. 55
    - Cut
    - Body Slam
    - Leech Life
    - Slash

    rbspr045.png

    Vileplume, Lv. 64
    - Mega Drain
    - Sleep Powder
    - Acid
    - Petal Dance

    rbspr103.png

    Exeggutor, Lv. 59
    - Strength
    - Solarbeam
    - Psychic
    - Psywave

  • Again, a lot of progress made today. Happy memories of Pokemon Yellow from my childhood are coming back.

    Journal:
-Defeated the Vermilion Gym trainers and then Surge and his Raichu. Piece of cake.
-Purposely didn't battle the trainers on Route 11, so that Pinsir can train there once I've caught him (since I'll have to catch him at level 15)
-Headed straight for Rock Tunnel. Battled all the rainers outside, healed Pokemon at the Pokemon centre and went inside.
-Made my way through Rock Tunnel, blacking out a few times. Stupid Geodudes and they're Rock Throws ¬¬.
-Spent literally 3 seconds in Lavender Town before taking a right to Route 8 for some more training.
    -Venonat evolved into Venomoth.
-Arrived in Celadon City and headed straight for the Rocket Game Corner.
-Defeated all the Rockets + Giovanni. Obtained Silph Scope.
-Went back to Lavender Town and into the Pokemon Tower.
-Defeated Gary. His Eevee hasn't evolved yet. What a tard he is.
-Defeated all the ridiculous Channelors and Jessie/James. "Saved" Mr. Fuji.
-Got Poke Flute and caught Snorlax for a Surf HM Slave.
    -Obtained Fly.
-Dodged all the Bikers on the Bike road. They can wait until I've caught my final two Pokemon.
-Arrived in Fushia City! Finally! Headed straight for the Safari Zone. Picked up Surf/Gold Teeth.
-It took 7 Safari games, but I did it. I caught Pinsir and Scyther! **** yes!
-Went back to Route 11 and trained Pinsir up to level 24 (from level 15).
-Went to Celadon City and saved the game. Will train Pinsir and Scyther some more at Celadon Gym.

    Team:
    Spr_1y_127.png

Pinsir Level 24 (He looks so badass in Yellow)
    Spr_1y_123.png

    Scyther Level 26
    Spr_1y_047.png

    Parasect Level 32
    Spr_1y_012.png

    Butterfree Level 32
    Spr_1y_049.png

    Venomoth Level 33

Awesome, the whole team is there. Such a shame Beedrill couldn't be there to join the party (no pun intended). Damn the no trading rule!!!!!

  • You have to beat all Kanto Gyms and Red in order to finish Crystal.

BTW I caught a Shellos (Slugg) and I'm grinding to kick Mars' ass more easily
