Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Confirmed to be the Final Main 3DS Games for Pokémon

In other words, still a portable? Again, it really doesn't matter that it's part home console, as it's still also part handheld.

Home console on the go is what Nintendo is selling it as so 3DS may get an successor

They also described it as a system that "transforms from home console to portable system in a snap."

Not saying a 3DS successor definitely isn't going to come (don't see it happening myself, but I can still see it as a big possibility), but let's be honest: the Switch is a portable.

Yes it is portable but not not that easy to carry around like the 3DS you'd need an bag to carry around the switch

... You really don't need a bag (source: Switch owner, only rarely carry it around in a bag).

Not to mention, that really doesn't take away from whether it's a handheld or not.

Personally I'm eager to see how it will look. My concern is with how it will play

Agreed. Pokémon on the Switch is imo, in a very interesting position in that it can almost do no wrong.

If all it is is gen.8 with a fancy coat of paint....I'm fine with that. The graphical jump this time around will be nothing to scoff at, and will realistically be the last big one we see of in the series. (Also it's not out of question to get other RPG quality of life things like voice acting)

But if it take a big leap of faith and tries to shakeup the formula in the way BOTW and Odyssey are for their respective series, I myself and others would also be fine with that. The series has almost iconically played it very safe for its entire run, and I think fans would be open to them finally trying something different. (the response to the announcement of trials replacing gyms is proof of that)

I think the main series pokemon games are gonna fail and look awful on Switch. Probably be the worst selling games for many years.

Thank goodness USUM is on 3DS.

I can tell you've never played Pokemon Colossem, XD, or even Pokemon Battle Revolution...

Good thing i didn't. Those games are terrible. I prefer handhelds. Switch maybe a hybrid but it is still an awful console from what i can see.

not really? I never played them but from what I can see and reviews these games were well received. Heck if you don't believe me just watch chagga's let's plays.

as for Switch... it has been pretty well received so far. Sure it is not perfect but it is good.

I don't like pokemon games that are not on handhelds. Pokemon games on other consoles simply do not work in my opinion.

why not? that is pretty close-minded of you.

I am not close minded. I just think handhelds are better. I have my doubts for Switch.

it is already out and owned by millions- and most of them agree that Switch is really good.

Um, you haven't even tried a pokemon game that's not on a handheld, at least a main series one, so how can you say you don't like them? And the switch is pretty much a handheld if you want it to be, so I don't see the problem?
