Underrated/Overrated Pokemon

I feel like Manectric is very underrated. electric + fire covers alot. Nice Sp atk as well as speed. I don't think this guy gets enough credit.

Yeah, I love that electric wolf. I had one on my Ruby team which did pretty good and also I started training one in SoulSilver after I beat the Elite Four.

It's nice that it gets good coverage with Thunderbolt and Flamethrower. And it has one of my fave Pokemon cries too.

I have an intense dislike of Dragonite mainly due to the fact that it was the most awesome-super-cool critter in Gen I. It takes ages to train and the end result is nothing really special, to be honest. There are plenty of other Dragon critters out there more powerful (Salamence) and with more interesting typings than Dragonite (Kingdra, Flygon, Garchomp) and yet Dragonite seems to be revered in many places. I just don't get it, to be honest!

Three things:

1) Dragonite, being dragon/flying is weak to dragon (2x), rock (2x), and ice (4x).
2) OG is overrated.
3) Salamence and Dragonite are about equal.

They're both dragon/flying, but Salamence has higher atk and sp.atk, while Dragonite has higher def and sp.def.

Salamence has a higher effective physical defense due to its intimidate ability, but Dragonite still has the upper hand when it comes to special defense.

Magikarp is underrated. It is a complete beast!

I agree with Magikarp being underrated. I read in a Pokemon handbook that many years ago, Magikarp was much stronger than it was today.

I wouldn't say EVERY Fire-type starter is overrated. For instance, barely anyone chose Tepig in B/W.

Again, many deny this, but I'd like to direct attention to Lucario as an extremely overrated Pokemon. I mean, seriously, this thing has it's own fanclub! It's the favorite Pokemon of furries everywhere, and it looks absolutely terrible. If you know me well enough, you know that I don't usually say that certain Pokemon look like Digimon, but Lucario looks more like a Digimon than a Pokemon. Sure, it's decent in battle, but it can easily be felled by instances like this:
"Excadrill used Earthquake!"
"Blaziken used Flare Blitz!"

Seriously, Lucario isn't all that good. Get over it.

Late quote, but I chose Tepig, I always choose the Fire starter, it's a tradition I started with Gen III (because Blaziken was so awesome!). They are pretty good in the games too, with the exception of Charizard in Gen I (weak Special and many weaknesses).

I hate Lucario fanboyism but not the Pokémon itself, I find it a cool design and very Pokémon-esque, especially the Sugimori art posted above. And, if you don't understand why Lucario is a Steel Pokémon, I wonder what you think of Jirachi, which doesn't even have spikes... Or Gyarados, which is Flying but doesn't fly.

YES! I gotta agree with this. Chikorita learns Razor Leaf at an extremely low level, also learns Synthesis and Poison Powder! It's really a very useful Pokemon, yet people never choose it.

About Lucario, again, IMO it has a really cool design, but it's just not that strong...

I never said that I understand Jirachi's Steel type. It makes even less sense than Lucario. As for Gyarados's Flying type, that is based on an Eastern legend stating that carp that jumped over the Dragon Gate would become dragons. And if you think that jumping can't qualify as flying, Doduo and Dodrio don't fly either, they jump. Sure, it's an obscure legend, but at least it makes some sense.

On another note, I'd like to bring up Haxorus and Oshawott as overrated. Haxorus is a piece of random-colored, over-armored overcomplicated crap, so much so that it doesn't even look like a Pokemon. Oshawott is overrated mainly because I see the thing everywhere on the forums. I mean, it's actually not a bad Pokemon, but I see that thing everywhere.

I'd have to also list Snivy as an honorable mention, but it seems to be getting less attention now.

Idk where to begin for "overrated" Pokemon. Maybe Pikachu (I like Pikachu and all but think its overrated), Charizard, Gyarados, Dragonite, Lugia, Eevee evolutions, Tyranitar, Lucario, Zorua/Zoroark, any legendary in general, yea you know what I mean.

Underrated; Quilfish, Quagsire, Furrett, Togetic/Togekiss, Ariados, pretty much all the Pokemon people say suck when they actually don't. They just aren't as good as the "overrated" Pokemon if that makes any sense.

Overrated: Arceus and Lucario... Arceus can change his type with a plate, but that leaves him still with a weakness... and Lucario.. if you have a quick mon with Fight/Fire or Ground move it's down easy...

Underrated: Garbodor, really i tried him a couple of times... and im stunned of its power... good attack stat, and a tough guy to beat... I might be wrong, but it's my opinion...

Dude, I agree with you that Lucario is overrated, but I believe you're kinda exaggerating a little. It's like you really hate Lucario.
Sure, it's weak, weaker than people make it look like. But it does have a nice design.
And, I'm pretty sure that if you search hard enough, you can find pictures of every Pokemon made for "disgusting furries", not just Lucario.

Overrated: Charizard, everybody knows that charizard is one of the best pokemon ever. But come on! What about the pokemon nobody likes or chooses? For years venusaur has been forever alone.
Zekrom, Dialga, Groudon. What about the less cool looking one? Good pokemon dont have to look better than the other version.
Gyrados, zoroark, all fire starters, mudkip, level 100 shiny Arceus with pokerus, and snivy.

Underrated: Most grass starters, Reshiram, Palkia, marshtomp, lunatone, solrock, floatzel, sheildon, bastiodon, and zubat (gotta love crobat).
