As Trevor handed the plantains to the chief, he wasn't sure of exactly what would happen, but was pleased when Zasu gave him a friendly smile and a thanks. The chief thanked him as well, and as Zasu and the chief conversed, Trevor listened closely. This had been what he was excited about: adventuring. Long journeys. He couldn't wait. Although he was excited, he suppressed his excitement and continued to listen intently.
Upon the arrival of Natjou, Trevor felt that Natjou had a different purpose. He somehow didn't feel like Natjou was there to defend them along the way. Although he looked strong, and his vicious-looking Nidorino was probably stronger then either of their Pokemon, he didn't feel he needed that sort of protection. Nevertheless, Trevor did what he always did with people he didn't feel comfortable with: he made it very hard for Natjou to connect with him as the three conversed. He kept his conversation to a minimum. Natjou didn't seem to talk much, either. Perhaps Natjou felt like he did, or maybe it was just because his English just wasn't very good.
The two wandered around the village as Natjou introduced them to various huts, and the purposes they served.
