UU Stall...Without Chansey.

I have dared to dream, and that dream has led me to this: the formation of a UU Stall team that does not use any members of competitive battling's favorite "staple" special sponging family. Of course, every team can always use some help, so I am asking for advice on this team for my first ever RMT.

Oh, and before I begin, please keep in mind that this is for Wi-Fi, not Shoddy, which means that event moves and the like are not going to be particularly viable. However, I doubt that I actually need to say this, but go ahead and assume that all relevant IVs are set at 31, anyway.

    Registeel @Leftovers
    Careful/Impish Nature
    252 HP/100 DEF/156 SP. DEF

    Stealth Rock
    Thunder Wave/Toxic
    Iron Head
    Earthquake

Smogon's Lead Registeel, only with the Attack EVs moved into Defense for a bit more longevity. Earthquake over Explosion for the sake of hitting other Steels a bit harder. I realize that the Smogon set uses Careful, however I am debating using Impish instead to give my team a bit more physical durability. I also need a bit of help deciding on the status move: Toxic matches the rest of the team better, but Thunder Wave hits most of those Pokemon that poison cannot. Any suggestions?

    Roserade @Leftovers -Natural Cure-
    Calm Nature
    252 HP/252 SP.DEF/4 SPEED

    Spikes
    Rest
    Sludge Bomb
    Energy Ball

This was originally a SubSeeding Spiker, but Dark_Azelf suggested focusing purely on special walling, so here it is. It might lose the element of team support that the previous set had, but it heals itself much more efficiently with Rest combined with Natural Cure.

    Spiritomb @Leftovers
    Bold Nature
    252 HP/252 DEF/4 SP. ATK

    Rest
    Sleep Talk
    Calm Mind/Will-O-Wisp
    Dark Pulse

Ah, CroTomb. I still have a variant of this that was used in Early D/P OU, so I know just how dangerous this can be. Blocks Rapid Spin, immune to Fake Out and the two Fighting-type priority moves, absorbs status...what else can I say, really? He stays, even if the entire team is thrown out.

    Clefable @Leftovers -Magic Guard-
    Calm Nature
    252 HP/40 SP. ATK/216 SP. DEF

    Wish
    Protect
    Encore
    Flamethrower

Yes, Clefable, my replacement for Chansey. There were two major reasons for picking this fairy:

    1. Magic Guard.
    2. It can actually use Wish without needing to come from an event.

Anyway, Smogon standard Wish support along with Encore stalling.

    Claydol @Leftovers
    Bold Nature
    252 HP/144 DEF/112 SP. DEF

    Rapid Spin
    Toxic
    Earth Power
    Shadow Ball/Psychic

Rapid Spinner, again from Smogon but with the offensive EVs moved into defense, as well as Stealth Rock removed due to it already being covered. Cloyster was once again considered for this spot, as was Blastoise, but I decided against it as both of them lack the immunities and resistances that Claydol's typing and ability give it.

    Altaria @Leftovers
    Calm Nature
    252 HP/200 DEF/56 SP. DEF

    Perish Song
    Haze/Sing
    Dragon Pulse/Pursuit
    Roost

Now this one, I have some serious doubts about. I was looking for a Pokemon that could both handle last-Pokemon sweeps and provide a direct threat to stat-boosting sets while at the same time providing either offensive threat or defensive bulk. I originally had my eye on Honchkrow, but seeing as that is currently banned from UU for at least the time being, I needed to settle for something else. This was my eventual choice, but the moveset is undecided as of yet. Of course, Perish Song is a given, as is Roost, but what goes with those two is what I need to decide on. I suppose that Sing does have a certain synergy with Pursuit, although that low accuracy and resulting Taunt weakness is unattractive.

There you have it. Now for the tally:

Pokemon resistant/immune to Stealth Rock: 3
Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock: 1
    Pokemon affected by Spikes: 3
Pokemon affected by Toxic Spikes: 0.5 x2 -Clefable takes no damage due to Magic Guard, and Spiritomb has Rest-
Pokemon available to absorb status: 4
Pokemon available to absorb Toxic Spikes: 1

    Wish Passer? Check.
    Stealth Rock? Check.
    Spikes? Check.
Toxic Spikes? Not included, due to the mass of Poison-types in UU.
    Weather? Not included.
    Status absorber? Check.
    Status infliction? Check.
Rapid Spin? Check, although perhaps not necessary.
    Rapid Spin blocker? Check.
    Hazer/Pseudo-hazer? Check.
Way to stop last-Pokemon sweeps? Check.

There you have it. I could not really come up with any major "counters" to this team, although as I look at it now I see some potential problems with Mix Blaziken carrying HP Ice--which I wish that I could come up with a way to handle--, as well as the same Rain Dance weakness that plagues most UU teams, so I am probably forgetting about others as well. So, rate/comment/flame away.

Not much of a rate, but you can drop Claydol 2 SpD EV's, so that the 114 becomes 112 and is divisible by 4.

Not much of a rate, but you can still use four EV's for Registeel, Roserade, Clefable, and Altaria. Also, give Claydol 2 more SpD EV's, so that the 114 becomes 116 and is divisible by 4.

The maximum number of EVs that a Pokemon can gain is 510.

    Registeel: 252 + 100 + 156 = 508

    Roserade: 44 + 152 + 60 + 252 = 508

    Clefable: 252 + 40 + 216 = 508

    Altaria: 252 + 200 + 56 = 508

    Yeah.. I've had a long day :D

But still, Claydol can loose 2 EV's on the 114 SpD to even it out.

I already fixed it. Sorry about that.

the last 2 EVs dont count for anything as it takes 4 EV's to raise a stat by 1 point (if i recall correctly)

nice team, although without a pokemon that can do some serious damage i have doubts about you being able to get through other bulky pokemon that can recover

Calm Altaria with Pursuit ? it doesnt need a -Atk Nature like Calm .... if you really wanna stick with Calm , then stick with Dragon Pulse rather than Pursuit. and yeah , dont even use Sing , it has a crappy accuracy as well as it is a waste...

Thank you for not using Chansey, seems people STILL havent realized how ass it is and how much set up fodder it is. @__@

Hence why he has Toxic Haze and P-Song.

Anyways, Altaria wants Roar, its generally a much better move than Haze.

Also Roserade is actually really bulky on the special side and giving it this set : -

    Roserade@Leftovers
    252 HP / 252 SP.DEF / 6 SPD
    Calm Nature
    Trait : Natural Cure
    - Spikes
    - Synthesis / Rest
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Energy Ball

It eats up special hits like candy (even Ice Beams) and can handle the special side of rain dance quite easily, especially junk like Ludicolo. Natural Rest is pretty sweet.

Id also put Will-o-Wisp on Spiritomb or LO Torterra kinda 6-0's you.

Poliwrath would work >> Altaria to help with Rain Dance and can Haze. Now you lack a way to deal with last pokes right ? Well Clefable can learn Encore, so that works in that regard and also helps with junk like Mismagius. I have a Poliwrath set that i used on my old stall team, i can dig it up if you want it.

Just some thoughts here, but yeah it looks like a pretty nice team.

Of course I would switch the nature to Careful if I were to use Pursuit.

    No problem.

Eh, the only reason that Haze was there over Roar in the first place was to "revenge" certain sweepers before they even had a chance to attack...although that would also have required some Speed investment.

...Really? I realized that it was bulky, but not that bulky with its low HP stat. Thank you for the set.

Poliwrath... I knew that I had overlooked something. So, a defensive set with Haze...

    Poliwrath @Leftovers -Water Absorb-
    Impish Nature
    252 HP/188 DEF/52 SP. DEF/16 SPEED

    Hypnosis/Toxic/Bulk Up
    Haze
    Waterfall
    Brick Break

Something like this? 16 Speed to outspeed other Base 70s with minimum speed, max HP, and a bit of Defense moved over to Special Defense to help a bit with taking random Ice Beams and such should Roserade be knocked out. Haze for shutting down set-up sweepers, especially Baton Pass chains, Waterfall and Brick Break for STAB as well as removing any random screens that opposing stall might use, and either Hypnosis or Toxic for more status, or Bulk Up to add to its defenses while also adding a bit of offensive power that might come in handy.

Also, do you have any suggestions on what moves to replace for Spiritomb and Clefable? I am having some trouble deciding which moves to remove, especially on Clefable.

Will-o-Wisp would work over CM on Tomb.

As for Clefable there are 2 things you can do to squeeze in Encore.

    1. Remove Toxic since you have it elsewhere on your team.

    2. Remove protect for it, although then Clefable becomes alot harder to play.

As for Claydol use Shadow Ball in the last slot to hit Spin Blockers harder than anything else would.

I can deal with Encore over Toxic on Clefable, however replacing Calm Mind with Will-O-Wisp leaves Spiritomb much weaker on the special side than I would like... I suppose that would be handled by switching to Calm, though.

I also still need some help with deciding on Registeel and Poliwrath.
