Name: Marisa Haldine
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Element: Earth
Spells:
Spell #1: Titan Armor.
- This spell basically does what it says. It creates an armor of earth around the wearer, increasing their endurance and strength dramatically, with the added benefit of not reducing speed or agility much. For Marisa, it also allows her to walk on her own, albeit temporarily. It takes a lot of magic and focus to keep up though, so one may get tired if it's on for too long. She can use this at full effectiveness for very short periods of time for now.
Spell #2: Shatter Bomb.
- This spell throws a rock towards the opponent before exploding, causing a large cloud of dust to surround the opponent in an attempt to blind them. It can't do much damage to the skin of someone, though you may want to watch your eyes around it.
Spell #3: Earthen Tomb.
- This spell can open holes in the earth below, the deeper they go, the more magic it uses. To compensate, a pillar of stone is raised above ground that can't interact with the hole.
Appearance: Were Marisa to stand, she'd be 5'11. Her skin is fairly tan, thanks to her spending a lot of time outside. Her eyes are a pale blue color and are generally half-opened. Her hair is a dirty blonde that stops slightly below her shoulders, so as to not get in the way, and her frame in general is fairly thin, almost unhealthy looking upon closer inspection. She has some scarring across her arms and legs, and a deep and massive one on her lower back.
She tends to wear fairly large clothing, a black long-sleeved shirt that extends beyond her hands with a white shirt underneath it in case the overshirt were to fall off. Her skirt goes down to her shins and matches the overshirt in its darkness. On top of her head, she wears a tan cloche hat, something different from her mostly-black outfit. She also has a necklace, though it's just one you can buy at some random gift shop for a couple dollars, if that.
She is also crippled and in a wheelchair, a fairly basic one that doesn't run on electric power.
Personality: Despite her dress, she doesn't hate talking to people. In fact, she doesn't mind talking to them, though she isn't particularly all gung ho about social interactions either. At least not to the point where she'd actively pester people to talk to her. She's not exactly the most comfortable person to touch, as she tends to get a bit mad when you grab her from behind or if she can't see you. She is a bit introverted, though, so don't expect her to want to go all day long.
She tries to listen to things people say unless she's busy, in which case you may be talking to a wall. She's not the best multitasker in the world, so she does mainly try to focus on one at a time if possible. If someone gets offended for her ignoring them, she tends to not get it due to how lost she gets in her work. If you're her friend, she'll try to not completely ignore you, but at times she can't help herself.
Marisa's not the biggest fan of pity due to her state either, mainly because she's gotten used to it and is even attempting to get better at her spells to be able to outright bypass her immobility. Hence the Titan Armor. However, she won't snap at you for doing so, simply mentally roll her eyes and get back to what she's doing, though if one pushes her, she's not entirely going to be the most friendly to you for that period of time.
She tends to wake up fairly early and when waking up late, she tends to be annoyed at herself. Given some food, she'd probably say she likes french fries the most and tends to dislike celery. Her greatest fear is the fear of absolute solitude. Being alone is fine as she can just find someone to talk to for a while if need be, but being given no ability to have someone is something that scares her. She's also really afraid of heights and big dogs.
History: She was born in a small town, one that is normally forgettable and the only reason anyone even knows about it is due to it being on the highway. In this town, there weren't many people, so the social group she had was fairly small. When she was young, she used to love to play sports, having much more energy than she does now. Football (soccer) was her favorite sport in particular and she was decently good at it. Along with her, she had a brother, though he was always a bit distant from the rest of the family. While he was nice enough, he tended to not care much when it came down to it.
One day, when she was about eight and out playing football, one of the kids tripped over a hole and hit the ground. The hole was too large for it to have gone unnoticed, but no one thought anything of it. Marisa eventually came home and when she had to clean the backyard, a chore she put off, she managed to recreate the spell she unconsciously cast. This time it was a larger hole, one that couldn't be explained away to her parents. She tried to cover it up, but the noise attracted her dad. He was surprised to see this, but not angry. She tried to apologize, but her dad showed off his own powers as well, fixing the hole. He began to teach her after that.
Her brother also noticed, and began to feel jealous of his baby sister. Jealous that she got that kind of power instead of him. She and her dad began to spend more time together, while her mom worked and her brother stewed in his own jealousy. Being around the two so much began to blind him and his grades began to suffer, what little social life he had decided to fall apart and he tended to get into trouble more often.
Fast forward a couple years, where she has some semblance of knowledge on controlling her powers, and suddenly her brother came back home. The family began to celebrate, but as his sister's back was turned, he stabbed her. He tried to finish her off, but their dad restrained him. He tried to talk sense into his son, but he wouldn't listen. He was arrested and Marisa had to go to the hospital. While Marisa survived the stab, it did take away her ability to walk. For the next five or six years, she had to get used to this. Her father was more uncomfortable with teaching her magic at this point, to the point where they stopped the lessons.
Eventually, she got a letter in the mail inviting her to this school. After talking with her parents, they decided it was best for her to go. They weren't entirely comfortable with her being here after her brother got let out of jail not too long before, and so she was sent off.
