In the recent "third version" we pretty much got a whole new game with new characters and a new villainous team and with the trailer for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and how it's a new take on Alola, do you think there will be a whole new villainous team? Or do you think it will be Team Skull/Aether Foundation, again? Do you have any speculation or hopes for the possible new villainous team and their Pok?mon?

I have two speculated ideas for the possible new villainous team, my first idea could be a hybrid of Team Skull and Aether Foundation (I don't have much ideas for this one yet).

My other idea is a group of conservative religious fundamentalists, who want to make Alola moral again and right with their God (Arceus?). I have an idea of how it could work too, it could be run by a crazed preacher who took Punks, Punk Girls and Ex-Team Skull members in (like how some religious groups have refuges for people who are in bad situations), the preacher then indoctrinates the ruffians into believing what he believes and they stage various protests around Alola and rebuke people in red-hot Hellfire and Brimstone sermons.

I doubt Pokemon wants to have religion in the games for the risk of offending some groups - they've shied away from that before and only really toed the line with things like arceus. Doubt we'll be seeing that..

Dragon Quest has religion in it and I don't think anyone's been offended.

dragon quest is a totally different game made by a totally different studio so i'm not sure what that means :c not everyone has the same concerns and priorities when developing a game.
if game freak wanted to implement actual religion, i think they would have done it in gen 4 or in any of the other instances where they've introduced "godlike" legendaries. the fact that they've passed up so many opportunities to do it so far tells me that it's not something they're really going to spring for tbh

I hope they don't delve into religion though.

A Plumeria-led Team Skull maybe? Since she considers the grunts her sisters and brothers, that love could be translated into something else.

I can't really see religious aspects being incorporated, since I know religious images have been censored in the anime and there had been certain religions (such as Christians) complaining about Pokemon in the past.

If Colress does get involved with the main plot, there may be a chance that the evil team will be another corrupted Aether Foundation or maybe even Team Plasma !

As much as I'd love to see Team Plasma return, I know that they probably won't because every villainous team has to be exclusive to their region most of the time.

I'm thinking that we'll probably be getting a whole new team, unless the team is made up of remnants of Team Skull/Aether like in HG/SS. I was pretty skeptical of Faba at the end of the game so maybe something happens with him...

Regardless, I really hope that Team Skull and Guzma play some sort of role in the new games, even if they're not the main villains. I really liked Guzma and I'm intrigued to see what happens to him now that he's disbanded Team Skull.

If Team Skull don't return, I'd like to see what role Guzma and Plumeria will play. Cysura's idea of a new team altogether wouldn't be bad, since it would remind me of how different Team Plasma became in B2/W2.

Personally I'm hoping that this game is really set in an alternate reality of Alola. So that would mean characters we know would fill very different roles.

So I think in this case a brand new villainous team would work really well.

I think Team Skull is still terrorizing Alola in some form, possibly by linking up with Team Rocket to create some sort of two-headed monster. That'd be an interesting storyline to play through - deciphering how/why the two teams banded together and fighting to stop their takeover. I'd actually rather have them build upon Skull's legacy than introduce a new team, especially since we're sticking in Alola.

I think it will still be team skull. As an alternative story, I have the feeling that Aether foundation can get a new role? But for some reasons I don't have that feeling for Team skull. Maybe because I didn't felt like they had such a big role in the story than Lusamine and her guys had.

I like this have Plumeria and Guzma switch roles and have Guzma be the number 2. Also we get enough religion and religious bickering in real life. I like play games to escape reality.

No one wants religion shoved in their faces so none of that in pokemon please. In terms of villains, it probably be the same evil team.

A Plumeria-led Team Skull had crossed my mind, actually... these games are supposed to be alternate realities, so I think it could happen. Maybe if Guzma is a former leader and is currently one of the Trial Captains (or Bug type Gym if Gyms are in), while Plumeria has taken his place.

I see the game as an alternative world as Emmerald for Ruby and Sapphire, so I expect to see the same enemies.

Since it's an alternative version, maybe we'll see the same characters, but their roles are switched?
Like what if Gladion takes Lillie's place and Lillie joins Team Skull. It's a stretch, but I'm not sure what I even expect from GameFreak anymore.

I think Gladion keeps his role but has a bigger part. More appearances of him. Team skull no doubt will return.
