Watch out for Ghosts! (Read the First Post!)

At first I was just breeding for no reason, like: "Look at me, I've got a second Chimchar now! I did the impossible, more than one starter Pokémon!" when I just found out how the day care worked. Later I did it mainly for the moves, but nowadays there's nearly no reason for this. TMs shouldn't be reusable in my opinion, I don't feel like they have much value anymore.

I like TMs being reusable. It's nice that you don't have to worry about overwriting a move you might want later.

(although it does make HMs even more redundant than they already were)

I might have a rare opinion on this, but it feels like the four move slot limit is broken. You can alter your move between the battles and alter them back afterwards. You can simply go to the Elite Four and before you face a ghost Pokémon trainer, switch your Lucario's Psychic to Shadow Ball. Pokémon like Lucario can learn both Swords Dance and Calm Mind and about ten types of decent moves. What's the point of having a move limit?

I like it how they made TMs reusable. Before that, I have never even used them cos the same thing as Master Balls, "maybe I'll need it later"...but guess what, that later never happened lol. Plus they were a collection of it's own. As for move limit being broken. I dont mind, Pokemon should know, realistically, more than 4 moves anyway.

I agree. I never ended up using TMs back when they were one-time usage. And the times that I did use them, a situation came up later that made me think "Darn, I should have used it on this Pokemon instead." I definitely don't miss those days haha.

So here's an interesting topic: How do you guys feel about HMs?

I like some of them. Surf, Dive and Waterfall are really strong anyway, so all three of them are on my Samurott on White atm. Same with fly, even Strength, as for the others, I use them once and hope I'll need them as little as possible. lol

I think Waterfall is the most useful one, for sure. Surf is good too, but I think it's outclassed a bit by Scald now. Sadly, the rest aren't really any good. Such a shame that the moves you need to know in order to complete the game are nigh useless in battle -_-

I wish Cut was stronger though. It is needed everywhere, yet its not very useful. Plus its normal typed >_>

Welp, there goes my Chandelure status even before it was put in the first post.

HM Strength isn't terrible, okay, there's a lot more useful moves, but I rarely had a problem with learning Strength. Otherwise you can simply put it on a HM slave along with Rock Smash, those can always go together.

In earlier games I would usually use Strength because it was fairly decent, until I figured out that Return is actually a much better option aha

I often slapped HMs onto Pokemon a lot in my early gaming days, when TMs were one-use and I wanted to conserve them a lot. 5th Gen thankfully changed all that.

Defog is pretty useful in competitives for removing hazards. Other than that, I can't think of a single instance it'd be any good in-game :c

I'm sure the one above needs is 3... besides, Defog is just so annoying to use as an HM. It is recommended if you despise the thick fog on Route 210 with its gradual accuracy-reducing issues.
