I haven't really watched the Pokemon anime yet, but it's still hard to get used to Serena with short hair x:

I feel like the long hair signified her beauty, while the short hair focuses more on her cute side.

I recall it was going to be interesting to see such a drastic design change on a main female character, but when you look at the design there's more colour with her new clothes, and makes her feel more like an individual. And the blushing moments got ten times cuter as well.

Hard to believe it'll almost be a year since Serena underwent her transformation.

Yes. It was February 12th, 2015 that the episode first went to air in Japan. I feel like her new look grew on me after only just a few weeks, thanks to a solid explosion of gifs and fanart that were created following the episode.

The blue ribbon in particular is something AmourShippers always like to bring up, because to Serena the ribbon helps her think of Ash and his encouraging words to not give up.

It was hard to believe many thought she was going to be a useless character when the XY series started, but after the declaration she wanted to follow her dream of becoming a Performer and aiming to be Kalos Queen, there was a ton of development that followed. The haircut and outfit change, getting advice from Aria and now also helping Eevee overcome her shyness.
