So, each Pokémon you catch or hatch in GO has an individual height and weight stat you can see. There's been speculation that these statistics might have a correlation to CP and HP, but nothing conclusive has been found yet. Maybe it's just for trophy purposes like the Magikarp medal would suggest?

Question is, do you even look at these statistics when deciding which Pokémon you're going to transfer?

Do you think these stats mean something more to the game?

I pay zero attention to these stats whilst deciding which Pokémon to keep/evolve but I do think there is something to them, specifically the XL labels. Pokémon in Go have IVs just like in the main games and my main theory is that the height/weight give you an indication of IVs - be it that smaller Pokémon are faster or just that larger Pokémon have higher stats in general. I'm still trying to look into this but that's what I think so far.

I definitely hear you here, is there a information table that will help explain IV's? I was in discussion with another player that was talking abou this and quite honestly it was over my head. Nevertheless, I do believe the XL / Normal / XS do have some sort of play on the Pokemon. I'm with you though that I have no idea as to what it means. :(

I... wasn't even aware this game was using IV's. D: Makes sense I suppose, but just wasn't aware.

I was reading about how the weight and height might have something to do with speed, but how this figures into the actual battle equation isn't quite certain yet. Certainly didn't know these stats really had much else to do with anything other than that.

Thinking about it now, it would seem like the height and weight of the Pokemon makes some sort of difference. Since the starter Pokemon that we choose is always XL in both weight and height, I would think that the developers put that in to make them more special.

I don't know what these stats could mean. I really don't pay any attention to them otherwise, but now I'm thinking of doing an experiment with it. I have one Weedle that's XS in both stats, and with how plentiful Weedle are in my neighborhood, it should be easy to catch one that's not. I'll have to raise the both of them a little to see if it makes a difference.

...again, I never noticed that. I'm beginning to think the whimsy of this game keeps me from being too serious of a player. Haha.

Still, I'm sure it has to have some kind of meaning. There has to be more to it than simply winning a medal for finding bigger Magikarp.

That's an interesting read - I assume we can trust that that's correct? If so it's kind of strange, what do you think height and weight are actually for then? Just a random fun thing to keep track of?

I'd be very curious to see what results you get - make sure you keep us posted! If the above link is correct then the effect should be basically random, so it may need a good few attempts to be reliable.

I would consider the material valid unless stated otherwise. The theorycrafters there have a good track record.

As for what the stats actually do, I don't have an answer. Some people suspect height/weight to be more related to what CP/IVs you already have, sort of like Pokémon characteristics in the core series games (e.g. mischievous, loves to eat, quick to flee, etc.).

    Any concrete evidence? ¯\(°_o)/¯

I had many XL Pokemon that had less stats than others. I don't think it does change anything...
