FireRed hack: Weird Type Fun v1.93 (complete type swap hack)

First time ever commenting but: WoW amazing work overall, can't believe I'm only finding about this project now. I do have to ask tho: what shaders or like, graphics I guess did you use for the screenshots, they look so crisp.

I updated both download links in the thread! I've been receiving so much help and support I'm pretty much speechless ^^ I fixed a bunch of issues brought to my attention both in the base version and the one with the phys/spec split (which I'm working towards making the only version, just not quite tested enough to be there yet). Thank you everyone who has been playing the hack and giving me bug reports, pointers and all other kinds of help! 🙏

oh ok thanks! Other than that, this looks amazing! Will there be Arceus in a future update for the game?
I do happen to have a benched design for Arceus~

which fossil in mt moon is kabuto???
Neither!
Spoiler:

Thank you thank you ^^

Although I tested the rom on a different emulator, I literally took the screenshots on the default settings of Visual Boy Advance just because I like the quality 🙈

Do you plan on ever posting the full dex as either a image or in documents with all of the sprites

I've played both versions and I love this game. I'm gonna update the split one and gonna continue playing it.
Thank youu, so glad you enjoy it ^^

I don't see why not! I'm going to update the documentation anyhoo so adding sprites to the locations doc seems like a fun idea.

In the meantime, I cobbled this together pretty quickly so it's not the most visually appealing but here's a sprite dump of the full dex (including all Unown forms as well as a pokémon form that is in the game data but is never seen in game). Some older sprites / palette and scaling choices I am not the most proud of but plan to update eventually haha.

Thank you, I wanted a way to look at the sprites for my friends because they wanted to see the sprites first before they played

Another update to the physical/special patched version, which I'm steadily working towards making the only version to avoid both confusion and having to implement every fix twice 8D

I received some invaluable help in pinpointing the reason for that pesky pokedex display bug and also implemented infinite TMs, as well as some other smaller fixes (more of which are coming too thanks to all the help I'm getting!). Slowly but steadily moving towards further development and expansion, just gotta get those fixes and quality of life polishes in.

Hi, been enjoying the game a lot so far. I got softlocked here at the Fishing Guru's brother's house after I showed him a Frillish:

Somehow the male trainer sprite loaded in the middle of the table where the Dunsparce was, and I got stuck there with nowhere to move?

Welp 😰 I have an idea of what could have caused this, will look into it! Thank you for reporting o7

I am having a ton of fun with your romhack. I love how you recontextualize moves to fit their new type. The designs and spritework for the mons are great too. One question though, do pokemon who evolve with stones still have limited movesets upon evolving, or are they roughly the same as their pre evos?

It's a mixed bag. Earlier national dex pokemon (the real one, not WTF one 8D) like Raichu have limited movesets, but later ones I've made exceptions with. To be honest I don't quite like this so I will likely be updating those pokémon to have the movesets of their pre-evos eventually. And thank you so much for both the question and compliments! :D

can the other two starters be obtained??? (sorry if this was already asked)
Yes! Every pokémon is available in the game in some form, including the starters, the other fossil pokémon and the other two roamers. However, the starters are in the post-game.

The documentation that comes with the patch has details on how to obtain each pokémon in the dex for anyone interested in hunting something specific down. Completing the pokédex is possible but I don't know if I recommend it, it's an ordeal and a half 8D

Can someone give me a hint on how to beat Roark if I picked Scorbunny, I can't seem to find *any* Pokemon with attacks that actually do decent damage to eldegoss and it has clear body so I can't reduce its stats.

Update, I beat the gym literally just after posting.

Unrelated, I love the new Pikachu it kind of reminds me of pop star Pikachu, really digging Scorbunny and Raboot as well.

Hey, I'm here again! I'm looking at item drop rates for completion and wanted to ask, does marowak have a thick club equivalent in this game and does any pokemon drop tiny mushroom and big mushroom? I want to make sure if the move relearner in island two is usable or not
