    What book(s) are you currently reading?

    If you want to post what manga you are reading that thread is here

    I'm only reading because I have to for summer reports XD;

    It's a book called "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers". It's actually really interesting, I like that my school's forcing us to read something that will actually make us think a little instead of mindless fiction. I had to readon something called "Dragon Rider" last year cause my teacher liked it. Seriously, wtf.

    tolstoy's 'war and peace' i haven't read much of it though

    I'm determined to pick up and read all the "nerd" things I can this summer. (At least, out of the things I've been reasonably interested in in the past.) This includes the entire Harry Potter series, and The Hobbit and the LOTR series. I'd also like to read some of the Dan Brown books I haven't read in a while. (Digital Fortress, Angels and Demons, and, lulz, The Da Vinci Code.)

    I'm just finishing up "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, I read it in middle school and really liked it, so i figured I'd read it again in my spare time... but i just end up binge reading (reading a lot of it in one sitting then not at all for awhile).

    Also I started Benhazir Bhutto's "Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy, and the West" because I thought it was an interesting topic. And i also started "The World Without Us." a look at what would happen to mother earth if we were to just disappear one day. Apparently I prefer a well written work of fiction to these other two books with more prevalent subject matters. Still a child at heart.

    I am currently reading "The Spell book of Listen Taylor", I couldn't find the original "I Have a bed made of buttermilk pancakes" (The one I am reading is re-written for young adults).

    It is about a 10-11 year old girl, named Listen Taylor. She is currently living with her dad and her dad's girlfriend called Marbie Zing. They had just moved into an apartment together, and Listen finds a book with the words "SPELLBOOK" on it. She follows it's instructions to wait until the following week, and goes on from there. This story has multiple plots at the start which eventually lead to the one ending, Marbie Zing's family has a secret that is discussed about every week and Listen and Cath (Will get to later) soon find out. Cath is a Grade Two teacher of Cassie Zing (Niece of Marbie Zing) and finds her a bit odd. She is desperate for a new relationship (Her Husband has left her) and a new teacher arrives at the school and she has a crush on him. Her conscience is a big part of the book, as she talks to herself in her mind. She is on and off, at one moment happy to be an individual woman, the next craving a relationship. This book is fairly interesting and I shall keep reading on.

    I just finished Death's Shadow, which is the seventh book of The Demonata Saga. It's seriously gory and gruesome, but I like it, because although a book about magicians and demons seems to be rather unrealistic, the author can make it very believable. I'd tell you guys the plot, but then I would have to wreck the first six books on you all.

    I was in the middle of re-reading Memoirs of a Geisha a little while ago, but I don't know why I haven't picked it up again. I'm going to have to start again from the beginning. It's one of my favourite books ever, and just reading it relaxes me. I also like to read crime fictions, and I was in the middle of a series by a Canadian author named Norah McClintock, but I haven't gotten around to finishing those either.

    ...Being in this thread made me remember the books I have to finish. XD;

    The oh-so popular Twilight series. :> I gobbled up the three thick books in days. They're about a girl in love with a vampire and all the vampire-related problems. It seems dorky, but this stuff is brain candy. Fourth book comes out August 2nd! I'm going to camp outside the bookstore. :)

    Also, they're making a movie!!

    Le Comte de Monte Cristo unabridged

    Watching Gankutsuou made me really want to pick this one up, quite possibly my favorite book so far.

    Okay, folks. I'll try not to enter fangirl mode in this post, but what can I say? I love these books.

    Currently, I'm reading Xenocide by Orson Scott Card. It's the sequel to the Hugo-award winning Ender's Game and Speaker For the Dead. And I just love these books, just love everything about them. Never go anywhere without at least one copy of one of these books in my pocket. :P

    Also, I'm reading Dragons of Spring Dawning by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It's part of the DragonLance series.

    it may look strange, but im reading greek mythology books. love that. im reading books like "The 100 Best Mythology Histories","The Complete Book of Mythology","The Golden Book of Mythology", and others like those. ah, and my favourite: "The Trojan War".
