What did you think of the gen7 humans revealed so far? Will this be the downfall of poke humans?

I remember there was a thread about reactions to the new mons so here is a thread about what you guys think of the new people from this gen?

First off, I actually liked most of the new mons. Yes, that includes some of the ones that I've seen fans dislike. There are only like 1 or 2 that I'm not too fond of, but I don't want to judge them so early. The people on the other hand, not so much. In fact, I'd probably say it was the opposite-I am disappointed with almost all of the new gen7 humans revealed so far, the playable characters in particular.

WHY DOES THE FEMALE CHARACTER HAVE A FLAT CHEST WHY THIS IS FUCKING INSANE JUST WHY I don't know, but for some reason, I was massively let down by these protagonists. And to the point, I think that this would mark the downfall of the protags, or maybe even for the humans in the series in general. Worst of all, I remember seeming a fake leak back like 4 months ago or so, and the protags in it look A THOUSAND TIMES better than the current ones. Just... why? But I'm hoping soon we will get some actually decently designed humans later on to change my mind.

What are your opinions on the humans revealed so far?

Most of the characters seem really interesting each with something distinct about them. We've got Lillie who certainly has some sort of agenda that has a crucial role in the storyline and then I'm also interested to see what type of role Hala plays. At this stage I'd still say we're missing a few important characters such as the Team Leader, Champion, Elite Four members ect. So far though I'm liking the array of characters we have seen.

I actually like the protagonists, since the male doesn't look as bland as most recent male protagonists and the female has a cute yet unique design. I still don't get why people are ripping on her hat, it can't be that badly designed.

I also like how cheerful Hau is, while Lillie has me on the skeptical side since watching all those theory videos pointing that she may be related to the villainous team.

Hau is really the only NPC who has an appealing design to me so far. The protagonists are probably the most bland and uninspired ones we've ever had, but if character customization really is incorporated into the single-player and multi-player aspects of the game then it won't be a huge issue. But my main concern is just how these characters will be implemented into the plot. Lillie is obviously going to be important, because, well, the website said so. The fact that they need to make it so obvious that this character--not Hau, not the professor, not Hala, but just Lillie in particular--worries me about how they'll handle the characters in the game. Will this be another case of there being a bunch of useless, bland, cardboard cut-out characters where only one or two have any sort of significance? And for the few that are significant, will the story spoon-feed us throughout the game the way the website chose to spoon-feed us about Lillie being important?

Thinking back to XY, the only characters who could be considered to have any sort of importance plot-wise were Lysandre and AZ. And I remember that those two characters in particular were not revealed before the games' release. They showed us Diantha, Gym Leaders, our Friend Brigade, the Team Flare Grunts, even the Scientists, but they all turned out to be among the most poorly-executed characters of the series. Lysandre and AZ weren't much better, but when it came down to pre-release promotional material, their existence was kept hidden until the very end. On the flipside, gen 5's pre-release information did reveal the existence of characters such as Ghetsis, N, and Colress, long before the games released.

So considering this reveal of characters is closer to XY's than to gen 5's (even worse because we don't know anything about Gym Leaders/in-game bosses, villains, etc.) it definitely concerns me as to just how much care was taken when creating these characters for the sake of the story. If they want to keep us on-edge and have us discover all the intricacies of the plot and characters on our own, why did they bother to blatantly call out Lillie? If they plan on showing us more, why are they waiting so long? It's definitely a peculiar situation.

WHY DOES THE FEMALE CHARACTER HAVE A FLAT CHEST WHY THIS IS ****ING INSANE JUST WHY

Hello, /vp/, why don't you have a seat over there.

I've seen Professor Kukui, Lillie, this region's Lass trainer class, and your mother as the fan favorite human characters for this game. The main protagonists themselves and Hau aren't as popular.

I do find it shocking on why the protagonists aren't getting as much love as the ones from previous games, because I think their designs are kinda unique and fit well with the theme of Alola. But then again they don't have official names yet, that likely won't be revealed until after the games come out so people have been calling them by tons of different "fan names" with notable ones being Sol/Luna, Sun/Moon, and the prototype Elio/Selene.

Also, I don't like how the female protagonist's hat is getting hated so much because I like how it looks like a flower when seen from above (like how Hilbert's hat looked like a Poke Ball). Customization is back, so one can change it to a better hat, or in the case if one hates all the hat options, you can finally remove your trainer's hat.

I think the protags look bland, I don't like the male protag t-shirt, but customization is back so It's not a big concern to me. Other characcters like Lillie or Kukui are really interesting, I'm being subjetive but that's what I think about them.

Protagonists are usually meant to be a blank state since their personality is meant to be projected upon by you, the person playing the game. Calem and Serena were also kinda bland in their default designs, but at least the customization allowed for you to make them unique, plus customization also likely inspired Serena's haircut and change of clothing in the anime.

You think that's bad? I've seen people complaining about the female protagonist not looking as attractive as the past female trainers (making her look like an actual 10-year-old) despite being underage themselves, which should pretty much tell you how these fans view these characters.

I think it's because some recent protagonists were portrayed to be older, namely Hilbert/Hilda and Calem/Serena, and people seemed to like that concept so seeing Sun & Moon return to supposed 10-year-olds is to them, feeling like Game Freak took a step backwards.

Regardless, the older protagonists were still underage for them, since Americans view 18 as the definitive legal age.

One main problem with Sun & Moon pre-release so far is the fact we've not had many human characters revealed. By this point for X/Y we had three Gym Leaders, the evil team and a few other characters that I'm missing.

Not the biggest fan of the protagonist's designs, but that's fine because customization is back (I wasn't fan of Calem either). I like Hau's design, a lot LOT better than XY's rivals and I'm hoping he's more of a Barry/Hugh character, friendly, but also very strong and competitive (the XY Rivals were a joke). Lillie interests me a lot, and I like her design, she's cute. I hope that if she does battle, she's really strong as well. I also like Hala and he really gives me the "strong trainer" vibes so I hope he proves me right, although he reminded me of Professor Rowan at first. Speaking of professors we got another hot one, following the trend from Sycamore and Jupiner. All in all I'm liking the designs of the characters and I'm excited to see the Gym Leaders/E4/Champ/Evil Team/Boss.

They are not my favorite humans, but... I don't care. The Pokemon and the region is way more important to me than the look of the characters. The Professor and the rivals are more important than the protagonist too for me. The character don't speak, it doesn't have a big personality for me. So the look don't really matter.

I do hope we have can customize our character.

The trailers have already revealed that customization will be official in the game, which is a saving grace if one happens to hate the female trainer's hat. Also, it's been greatly improved from X/Y with now being able to go hatless.

...We have seen more than just the protags/rival/professor/professor's assistants? Lol sorry, I was only around for the first time they revealed the characters.

And anyway, In case you guys are interested, I actually do like simple designs on the characters, I never said I didn't like the protags for not being complex. I never said they were the worst either, but I just find them to be not what I expected, especially since I've seen much better in fan art.
