What do you hope to achieve from forums :)

Superb topic, Angela.

What I hope to experience from forums (or simply PC, I rarely go anywhere else) is just... a fun escape. At the time I joined PC, I was in Florida Virtual School, and I needed some interaction with people, even if it was on the net. People I could relate to, have fun with, and just enjoy good times with.

And yes, I tend to set a couple of goals when I join forums, but they vary depending on the forum. I set two primary goals for myself when I joined PC...

  • Make friends, have a blast, & make myself known~
    • I think it's safe to say I've accomplished that, but it never really ends. I really didn't want to join such a fantastic forum and just be an invisible member, I wanted to be embedded in PC, and I love it that way.
  • And leave after being active for a year.
    • I set this up because I wanted to leave when I left back for high school, but after a while, I realized I could handle both and that PC was just too much fun to leave. I mean, could you imagine if I just packed my bags and left due to this? PC's too addicting and rich to leave. Just ask Vega, a true member who preaches, and is the perfect example, of the affects of PC addiction -- just from coming right back after trying to leave, several times. XDDD
At that time, I didn't really have any other goals. There were some minor things like "get a pair" (who turned out to be Aizuke) later down the road, but I don't really set goals anymore. I kind of prefer to go with the flow these days and enjoy the craziness of this forum. XD
Thank you:), well as for my goal, I wanna shine on the forum, be known to everyone, become a Side Admin (Says it like Naruto when he talks about being Hokage), I wanna have 5000 posts to get a blog, I wanna be picked by the staff so I can get a blog, I wanna blog, right now I'm aiming for 1000 posts, wich will happen tonight, I planned on having my 1st 1000 posts before my 1 year anniversary and it was a success.

I want to win member of the month, I wanna create a fan fic, I wanna take part in a role play, I wanna create a successful roleplay, I wanna become an A-list graphic artist, I wanna win a tourney in every section at least ones, I wanna finish my guide, I wanna know more about programing, more then I already know, I wanna be able to discuss about more mangas/anime, read more of them, make a thread somewhere posting Naruto episodes on there, I want to be everywhere on the forum, I want to one day access the VIP section then the staff section, I wanna get more emblems I wanna have my pair for years to come, I wanna be active for at least 5 years:). I wanna socialize with more members, and I want to get a new protect going.

I want to be here for over 3 years and have over 2,000 posts.

Oh, wait...

Haha, almost. Still got June to go for it to become my 4th year officially.

Anyways, in all honesty, I believe I've pretty much hit the roof when it comes to "goals". I don't really make any goals when I join forums, but I became a mod, an active poster, friend of many among lots of other things on PC, so I guess I'm not really looking forward to anything else at this stage, besides lurk. I don't want power, nor do I want "lots of friends", partially because about 50% of the community here consists of retards to begin with, but yeah.

This may sound a bit pathetic, but on any popular forum, it's been a small dream of mine to become a Mod or higher. Of course I wouldn't want to become one out of the blue; I'd have to work hard in order to gain such a title. But that's something I hope to achieve.

And I know some people might want to obtain as many friends as possible, but honestly, if they don't talk to you, like, ever, why bother friending them then? My goal (which has pretty much been achieved here) is to have PC friends whom I talk to and not alienate.

But yeah. That's just me. Oh, and I want The Navi Award Emblem on PC, too, just because I LOVE OoT~

I dun't know, I guess a goal could be to get 1000 posts, but I come here to post in interesting sections, and the biggest reason is to talk to the people I've met on here, there's one person that is one of my best friends who I met on here, lol, it's really quite cute, and he's been awesome and yeaaah. People here are nice so why not?

Like there is no clear meaning of life, there is no clear meaning for me to be in forums. Yet, like life, I just go and get the best out of them.

Disregard the fact this is pretty much the only forum I go to anymore. XD

It's just become habitual that I frequent this place to harass its populace. Still, my original goal if you like, was to achieve 1000 posts, but that was long since accomplished.

Oh I've had many goals. Right now... for all my threads that are still alive to be hot threads. Otherwise there's nothing else really. I mean, I'm in the top ten posters, made most blog entries, made most posts in TCTI, made awesome friends and that's all really I wanted. Wait, I guess I do want more friends too. :D

Also I love how people are just openly announcing their plans to be mods. XD

I know, it's so delicious and diabolic:).

@Fia, No I don't think it's corny.

POST NUMBER 1001!!!!

But really, I don't see many plans other than that. It's a forum, not a game to accomplish tasks or any other goals that need to be met.

I always make a plan before registering on a site, even if it's a minor one.

I always:

•Make a lot of logical friends-
~~You must always need some allies in the internet.
•At least make to 3700
~~I don't know. I just picked a random, high number.
•Become well-known to the majority
~~This is what I aim for the most. It's what I desire the most.... not really, but still. XD

There are a few reasons why I join forums, but the most important one is that I have nothing better to do in my life. And also the fact that online games get boring really fast. But on forums, people keep on bring new things up, so it's not same old same old, who'd want to do the same old thing over and over again? Forums are areas to speak your mind, and express yourself freely (but not too much). Imagining an internet without the existance of forums is practically the same as the chances that Game Boy Color will be ultra popular again. Of course, some people want to join forums for 'mod powers' so they can become one of the 'cool people'. I myself is not searching for that kind of a goal, too much power in the hands of someone that cannot control it would result in a forum's ultimate demise. Some people say they can handle it, but do they really want it for the popularity, or the power? No one is for sure, except for the people who state that they want the job. There's also the accomplishment of a high post count. Now is that really a reason why you should be joining a forum? I think not. Posting over and over again on random topics won't get you anywhere these days. Do you people actually think that getting a high post count will impress people in the web and in real life? Most of you might already know this, but it's not the quantity that counts, it's the quality. It's better to have 10 great posts then have 10,000 nubbish posts. But of course, if you can reach that number truthfully by being loyal to a forum for a long time, great! You're now officialy obssessed with that particular forum.

A million posts to go, imho.

Whenever I join a forum, especially one that seriously pertains to my interests and is large, my goal always ends up being to get modded. :/ Haha, it's why I'm not really a forum-frequenter (aside from PC) anymore because I don't want to end up getting modded somewhere and have no time for it. I'm not afraid to admit it--power can be pretty awesome and if I like a forum, I love being able to help out and be noticed.

But um, yeah I've achieved all my PC goals, more or less. Now I have stupid ones like "be really active at least one day every week" or "pass Andy in top posters list". 8|

I was bored one day, so I started up a new Emerald game. I needed a question, so I went ahead and joined this forum.

In less than a week, I was active and wanted to: make good friends and help out as much as possible.

Sometimes I have plans like get at least 1000 posts mostly.
Also to make new friends and talk to people.
Those are my main goals usually.

Being a mod would be cool. D:

But seriously, I don't have any "goals" for forums. It's just fun. I get to talk with people who share my unnatural obsession with Pokemon. It's something to do. I dunno.

Just like every forum I join, I hope to help anybody who needs help, and make a few great friends along the way. =)

I join forums in general to make new friends who share a common interest, where it be food, pokemon, makeup, etc. In this case, I joined PC because I wanted a welcoming pokemon community where not only can I meet new people but I can also trade and battle with them too.
