What gym leaders have you struggled against before?

Recently played r/b/y and struggled so much with Misty. Picking Charmander definitely makes the game a lot harder.

I used to struggle so hard against Bugsy's Scyther and his Fury Cutter, especially when I started Chikorita and didn't capture other pokemon d:

Remember having had some rough times against Sabrina in Yellow too, and honestly the first time I challenged the very first gym in BW2 I lost hahaha.

In hardcore Nuzlockes...

• Emerald Wattson: Without Mudkip, this fight is a mess. Literally the only Ground types available before Wattson are Geodude (Rare encounter) and Nincada. No Dig TM, very limited options for Fighting/Fire types, Paralysis hax, the risk of Voltorb Self-Destruct if you try to set-up with Bulk Up...
• Norman: Do you have a way to deal with Slaking? Yes? You win. No? Enjoy losing most of your team.
• Emerald Tate and Liza: Oh what a difference 2 additional Pokemon makes. Claydol softens you up with Earthquake while Xatu boosts up with Calm Mind. The AI is also merciless, going for a KO whenever it has the opportunity.
• Platinum Fantina: Mismagius hits like a truck, there are no Dark types available, and few Normal types. This fight often feels like just brute forcing your way through her Mismagius.
• BW Lenora: Take Down crit kills almost anything. Retaliate after a KO turn kills almost anything. Hope you have a Roggenrola or you're probably gonna lose some Pokemon.
• BW Elesa: Volt Switch Spam suuuuuuuuuucks. Black/White's weird evolution levels also is a problem here, since many of your Pokemon are probably unevolved and understatted compared to her Emolga and Zebstrika. In Black 2/White 2 Challenge Mode, she also has a nasty team.
• Clay: Have a plan for Excadrill. This goes for every Excadrill, but Clay is the one mandatory Excadrill fight.
• B2W2 Cheren: Tackle is 50 BP in Gen 5, so even a guy just using Work Up + STAB Tackle is a serious threat.
• HGSS Clair: Sniper Kingdra is basically guaranteed to kill anything with a crit. This fight isn't bad in a regular playthrough, but in a Nuzlocke it feels awful hoping that Kingdra won't crit.

I remember when I attempted a Nuzlocke in Pearl, then lost immediately to Roark.

Recently, in Black 2, I also lost to Burgh. The leveling curve was a little steep in the early game, especially when on Set Battle Mode.
