Shadow
Shadow was aware that Shea and Mynh were following her. That was fine. They might be able to help. She didn't have a human mind. Shea did. She might need him to think of things that she would miss.
"It's coming from here!" Shadow said. She looked down a rather large hole. That scent was so... Odd! What was it? And there was another scent, but she didn't know what it was. She looked at the hole. It was large enogh for a big creature to have entered. What was it doing here? Well, she would get no answers from standing here. She felt the need to jump in it, and the scent grew stronger.
"I'm jumping in!" Shadow said. She crouched and leapt down the hole.
Project # 7
Seven looked around, appraising her surroundings. The little red haired eight year old was terrified. But she didn't let it show. She had a mission.
"Eight, let's go check this signal out," she said telepathically. The little grey Eevee looked up at her but didn't make a sound. he knew that if she was straining her mind to use her slight telepathic powers, then she must be serious about this. Seven moved silently along the dark roof. Eight followed his companion along the roof. Seven slid herself down the side of the roof and spotted a window. She reached out with her mind and whinced in pain as it slid open silently. Eight climbed onto her shoulder. She slipped into the open window, and the moment she touched the floor she was hiding in a shadow. She heard people moving around outside the room. She silently opened the desk and looked for the document she was sent in to get. She found it. The door burst open and a man sent out a Medicham. Seven shrank back, but Eight leapt to the ground and snarled. This was time for him to act.
"Eight, use Iron Tail!" Seven whispered. Eight leapt up into the air and slammed his tail into the Medicham, who kicked him aside. He was slammed into the wall and knocked out. Seven pulled out his pokeball and returned him, but before she could slip through the windo Medicham grabbed her and lifted her off the ground. Medicham hit her hard in the stomach and dropped her, where she sank to her knees. The simulation ended, and Seven was left in the room crouched on the floor crying. The Medicham and the scientist were standing over her.
"We still need more work, Seven. What did you do wrong?" he said. She whimpered quietly, but said nothing.
"You had the perfect opportunity to escape, but you ignored it. You let your feelings get involved and thus you failed. Had that been real, Not only would Eight have died, you would have too and the mission would have been failed. If you are going to fulfill your purpose, then you must learn to use pokemon as what they are, mere tools. You can not get attached to them!" the man said. Seven ignored him. She was not going to just abandon Eight, no matter what happened. He was the only thing that cared about her for her, and not for what she was. She got to her feet.
"We'll continue this later. Go back to your room," the man commanded. Seven walked out of the room and back to hers. It was more of a cell than a room, and it was furnished with a simple bed, a small bathroom and shower, and a single coloring book and box of crayons. She sat down on the bed. There wasn't even a window. She didn't know anything except for what was in these walls. But, as soon as she turned ten, they would begin to send her out on missions. First, with other more experienced agents, then if she did good, she would be on her own. After that... She wasn't sure. But any way she could serve the Gentleman she would. That was why she had been created. What other purpose was there for her?
