What is a friend to you?

    Okay I just saw a thread in here asking if you had a best friend, so I thought what really is a best friend,


    I know what a best friend is, I know you can have many best friends, but enough about that.

    My question to you is what is a friend to you, basically define the word and thing that you call friend,

    After you do that define for me what a friend is then define what a BEST friend is.


    Basically give me a definition of both things.

    What definition does your mind give you of the word friend and best friend,
    what is a best friend to you???

    Now poor your heart out and don't disappoint me;),


    PS. be aware that I'm looking for your definition, so looking up the word in a dictionary to get a definition is a big no no.
     
    someone who comes to my house on weekends/ vice-versa and we hang out study do whatever but with each other never thinks about him/herself more then me and i wouldnt either somebody that i can call when i get home from school or someone that hangs at the mall with me and what not just someone that is there i guess but never LIES
     
    someone I don't have secrets with and vice versa, put simply, someone I can trust^^
     
    a friend? well...for me a friend is someone who's there to help you when you need, who's there with you in the good or bad moments. Someone who likes you the way you are and doesn't care about what the others think of you oe him/her for being your friend, someone who can give you some advice when they think you need it. Someone who's there to congratulate you but also to shake up your ideas when needed...a person who's there to have fun with you....maybe I could say even more stuff, i don't know

    a best friend? altough I say I have one, I find that expression a bit hard to define, still I'll try...basicly it's everything that I wrote above, but he/she has something more, like some special thing in common that makes you even closer to him/her
     
    I will reefer to a text message I received a wile back:

    A friend will bail you out of jail. ... But a true friend will be sitting in there with you, saying, "D***, that was fun!"

    EDIT: Or this :

    A friend gives you an alibi, a good friend helps you hide the body.
     
    A friend: is someone who makes me laugh and they never let me down. A freind is also someone that I can trust and always have the time to hang out.

    A best friend: Is someone that is always there for me and to always let me fell good about myself. They also are not afraid to get in trouble because you hang out with me then your looking for trouble but what I do is fun. They also don't rat me out when I pull a prank or something and agree's with me in my oppinons.
     
    Someone who I can trust and I can tell them anything, somebody who is always there and will never be bad to me, someone who understands me and someone who will stick by me through anything and usually is interested in similar things to me; and perhaps most importantly, they can take a joke and not hold grudges or hard feelings.

    In other words, nobody.
     
    A friend to me is little more than someone that likes me, and whom I also like.
    Best friends are simply the more favoured amongst the rest, those I know better but that is all. I do not indulge in any of this 'I fight for my friends', or whatever.
     
    Friend: Someone who is there to help you feel better when you feel low, makes you laugh even at the most simplest of things, walks you to your next lesson, doesn't have many secrets, has fun with you.

    Best friend: Someone who is always there to help you feel better when you feel low, makes you laugh even at the most simplest of things, walks you to your next lesson, doesn't have any secrets hidden from you has a lot of fun with you. Lets you go round their house a lot.

    Soul mate: Someone who is always there to help you feel better when you feel low, makes you laugh even at the most simplest of things, walks you to your next lesson, doesn't have any secrets hidden from you lets you go round their house almost whenever you want to, will always have fun with you, loves you. They are someone who will never leave your side. Someone who you will live with even in the harsh times, they will never leave you.
     
    a friend is a person you know and talk to everyday
    a best friend is a person that backs you up and you are close to that person
     
    in my opionion a best friend is someone who cares about you,enjoys your company,sticks up for you, and has alot of your interests as well.
     
    Someone who is kind to you, does favors to you, and in turn you give them some, and someone that is there for you when you need it.
     
    Friend: Someone who you enjoy going out with and can joke about with. Glad to help out and thankful for being helped out. Also fun to be around when drunk.

    Best Friend: Someone who you can talk to when you're down or when everything seems at it's lowest; they're awesome

    Mr. Friend: Oh boy; a brand new friend to meet! Let's wash our hands before we eat!
     
    Friends are one of the most important factors in life, without friends, what fun is there to life? Friends are people who'll be there when you're down, someone you can go out to the shops with and go kick a football or something with. Friends are people you can tell secrets to and know they won't be said to anyone else. Friend are the people that want to be there with you, hang out with you and would stick up for you in a fight. Well, that's in my opinion.
     
    To me a friend is someone who is there when you need them. Not a girlfriend, not a parent, not a teacher; just someone who is there to guide you and help you through tough times.

    And also to play the 360 with. :P
     
    Friend ~ Someone who I like, who likes (or at least puts up with) me and who I can have a fun conversation with. Better yet, someone who's funny and not perfect.

    Best Friend ~ Someone who puts up with all my weirdness, or, better yet, is just as weird as I am. Someone who is totally different from me, but also has some similarities. Somebody I can trust, bounce totally random troubles off of, can make even staring at a tissue box seem entertaining, and who I am totally comfortable around.

    To me a best friend is someone who's always there for you. Also if you're doing something wrong and try to talk them out of it. I also think a best friend is someone who shares common interests with yourself! ^^ That's my defintion!
