Since there are lots of languages, a Poll wouldnt be necessary, but like I asked, What Language(s) do you plan on taking in High School? I'm taking Portuguese, and Next Year I'm taking French. What About you?

I took two years of Spanish in high school. I would've taken more (for a native Spanish speaker like me, it's an easy grade...), but there was no room on my schedule to have both Spanish and the vocational classes we are required to take in my school district.

Right now, or when I start school again, I'll be in Spanish II. I guess in high school, I'll continue with Spanish, if I have a choice.

I'll be going into Spanish IV when I head back to school. =/

In my junior year, I'm taking up Japanese.

And I hope that during college I'll have enough time/money/energy to nab myself a third foreign language. Though I haven't decided what yet. ^_^

(German sounds nice... it's sexy... ^.~)

    *sigh*

I wish my school offered Japanese, but all they offer is spanish...and speaking of which, I'll be in spanish III next year. Oh joy, more reports on hispanic culture =/

Next year I'll be taking honors Spanish IV. My school only offers Spanish, French, and Italian as foreign languages... we used to have others but they cut them from the budget years ago. But I'm pretty good at Spanish so I'll just stick with it... although, I do kinda wish I picked up Italian again...

Im taking french starting next year ^^ but im going to have a spanish tutor, then learn russian and another language in college so il know:
english, hebrew, french, spanish, russian, and anothe rlanguage

The sad thing is I've actually learned very little spanish even though I've been in it for two years XP I've been taught a whopping two verb tenses because most of the people in my class refused to learn the preterite so we stuck on that all year. I memorized it in ten minutes and was ready to go on -_-;; I bet most of you kids who are just now going into spanish know more than me!

i'm taking: french, german, english, dutch

Oh trust me, I know pretty much exactly how you feel. 7th and 8th grade Spanish count as one year. We learned the present tense... plus all those other little things you need to know. In Spanish II we were supposed to learn the imperfect and preterite tenses... of course I learned nothing! I had the worst teacher ever. And in middle school I was in the top 2 in my class... I was really good at languages due to the fact I grew up hearing my grandmother speak Italian. Freshman year I was the only person in my class that really wanted to learn more of the language... but my teacher was just such a bad teacher that even I ended up talking all during the class. I forgot more Spanish than I learned that year. It was awful... thank God I had a friend in another class that was willing to lend me her notes! And of course that stupid teacher recommended me for honors Spanish III! I wasn't in the mood to argue so I just let it go... and in September when I tried to drop down to level 1... my schedule wouldn't allow it. So I was stuck with all the smart people in my honors class. Somehow I managed to finish the course with an A-! But I'll admit that my teacher did take things a little slower knowing one student in her class hadn't learned anything the year before... but I don't think she actually knew I was that student! I had to learn both the imperfect and preterite tenses from scratch while for everyone else it was all review. But I did it, and I did it better than some students who had actually learned it freshman year. Oh well, at least that mess is over and it's on to Spanish IV.

I already know spanish and english, But I want to learn japanese.

I know just how that is. I took spanish all throughout middle school and elementary, and only gained a few words out of it ('Hablabla' for example, because it's funny to say, hehe). I plan to take spanish next year though, just to finish up my language credits. What I can't believe is, they say spanish is supposed to be an easy language to learn... if that's an easy one, I would hate to see one of the extremely hard ones, hehe.

Yeah, I know what you mean...spanish is way harder to learn, so many rules that we don't have in english x_x And yeah, words like hablabla and doblabla are really fun to say XP What tense is that? -ing? I have no idea, somebody needs to show me some tense charts or something XD

Actually I think the words you're looking for are hablaba y doblaba... and that would be the imperfect tense. I actually find Spanish really easy... it's one of the few subjects I'm still really good at. But then again, I grew up hearing Italian and in 4th-6th grade I took Italian classes so I had a bit of background knowledge peior to starting Spanish...

Aren't they? My whole spanish class started cracking up when we first heard it, hehe. Eh, I'm really bad with languages, so that may be why it's so hard for me. My mom was born in Columbia and only spoke spanish for a large portion of her life, but I just can't seem to pick it up. I do well in spanish class during the year, but completely forget it when I step out of the classroom, hehe.

Well, I did French, but I've completely forgotten it all. And now I have some Japanese learning tapes, so I'm starting to learn Japanese :-)

Oh, and a friend of mine is helping me learn Spanish.

I'm the same way...I usually only recognize words when I see them, but I can't remember a lot of them...I just wish we learned more vocabulary in spanish; my Spanish II year was pretty much wasted learning hispanic culture...I just hope I learn something that I can actually use if I ever need to communicate with someone that doesn't know english...for now I can only say very basic things...I should start a spanish club at PC or something where we can hone our skills on each other XP But anyway, I just wish I knew more, the slackers in my class really held me back this year.

I decided to forego sleep next year and enroll in IB Japanese III. But, eh, I think I'll survive. We only have one Japanese eacher at my school and she rocks. Anyway, no word in any language can compare to the l337ness of "Toki-doki."
