    So.. as title stated, what made you play Pokemon?

    Anime?
    Manga?
    Trading Cards?
    or because your friend has one and you think its cool.

    I personally played Pokemon because of the Anime.
     
    i got into it when i was in elementary school. a friend was playing red version, while we were in home work club, and he let me play for a few. it was a fun, but i didnt have a gba. so i fell into the TCG. then i got a gba color in april of 01. thats when it all started for me. it was such an amazing expierience for me. and techniclly still is

    I started playing the card game when it first came to the US, then shortly after I started playing the games.

    I miss the times when the more Pokemon cards you had, the more of a badass you were.
     
    I started to like it when I first played it on Gameboy , I got Pokémon Yellow and red :)
     
    I actually saw the advert for Pokémon Fire Red and thought "wow"
    So I went and bought it =3
    But I think my cousin has the earlier games so that made me want to buy it as well..
     
    I got into Pokemon because of the game aspect. To be more precise, when one of my friends at school lent me Pokemon Blue. I played it, loved it, bought it and the rest is history.
     
    The anime.
    After I started buying my own video tapes of the episodes there was always that little bit at the end that advertised Red and Blue versions.
    It was a must-get as soon as I saw it.
    Rented Red version the next chance I got and that's where the insanity began. <3

    A friend in Grade 3 had a copy of Pokémon Gold. I liked it, so I entered this Pokémon World. It was greater than the 'old-school' game I expected. O_o
     
    My friend showed me the trading cards.

    Then I watched the anime.

    Then I saw the games.

    Then I played the games.

    The rest is history.
     
    Surprisingly enough, I got into the games first. My dad got me Pokemon Silver for a Christmas present. He asked his coworkers and friends what their kids liked, and my dad also loved video games, so he decided to buy it for me along with a Gameboy Advance.

    Then I got into the anime. I was never into the card game. I just collected them. I still have a huge tin of them just for memories sake. Haha!

    I can't believe those days are gone! :(

    Well I started watching the show and collecting cards before I ever played the games. Then one fateful day my cousin let me play his gameboy which happened to have a gsc game on it. Ever since that day I've always played the games.
     
    Well the first game I played was pokemon gold. I got into pokemon ever since playing that game. My cousin gave it to me and I was from then on > obsessed.

    Well, I was watching Ash and his gang of Gym Leaders walking down the road one day and got interested. After that, I begged to get a Pokemon game and was rewarded with Pokemon Silver.

    The rest was history because I spent my whole life loving it. =)
     
    Started with the TCG and Anime, no clue how I started with those. But those lead to the game. Started with Yellow, jumped to Ruby, played FireRed, Pearl, Platinum, and then went backwards to play Silver (so I can get used to the region for HG/SS).
     
    xDD thanks alot for making me think, to tell you the truth I really dont know, yes I liked the anime and at that time I didnt even know pokemon was a game until I got my first version gold, the rest is history :]
