What Pokémon is the rarest and most valuable in the games?

    By that, I mean event Pokemon, not species. Taking into consideration how long it was distributed, how expensive it is to obtain it (for things such as transferring from other games or hardware), or how little there are out there, what special Pokemon is the most difficult to get a hold of?

    I'd personally say that Celebi in the second gen games is the most difficult Pokemon to get a hold of, since there was no in-game way to recieve one outside of Japan- without a cheating device, that is. It did have limited availability through distributions, but it was much harder to get Pokemon that way back then than it is now (through Wi-fi, more distribution sites, etc.).

    I'd say Jirachi.

    It was only distributed in Gen III, IV and V and....uh.... I got nothing..
    But I think Celebi is still more rare and valuable.
     
    Event Legends, since, well, they're events!
     
    Mew and Celebi could be obtained through glitches in RBY and GSC respectively, hm. I miss those days!

    As for the DS generation, I would say Celebi or Jirachi since they're never caught in the wild (so you can't hack/warp to their location like the others!). However, Gamestop released those a few years ago. Dream World released Arceus... BW Wifi released Darkrai and Deoxys. XY is releasing Celebi so...

    Back to Jirachi? However, if you have a bonus disc still, you do have an infinite supply.

    What's left then, Manaphy? It was last distributed in 2007; otherwise, you have to play the Ranger game. Infinite supply of them though, I think.

    Shaymin is fairly elusive (only distributed at Movie 11 or TRU and a ticket for Platinum). You can try the tweak glitch, but you run the risk of losing your save data.

    I'm good on that end then! Still have my disc from gen III.

    I've still never had a Shaymin or Manaphy, so for me personally, those two are the rarest. Gonna be difficult to get ahold of them for my Dex in XY since I don't have one available for transfer in gen V when we finally get Bank. I think I missed the Deoxys event too, but someone did trade me a Deoxys from a previous event, so there's that.

    It was also available in Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia as a Ranger Net download, but it's long over of course.



    Personally I'd have to say a Shiny Mew from the Japanese Faraway Island (Old Sea Chart) Event is the rarest of events. In fact, it's so unlikely anyone caught one that all the legal ones you may find floating around (especially ones that only appear on Pokecheck a few times) are all hacks. Basically, while it was possible in the past, it's safe to assume all available ones are hacks.

    Let's see what else, I know Mew was distributed a few times in America and Europe and it's even more common now because of the Mew event in Gen IV and the Pokemon Ranch Mew. Celebi wasn't distributed as much in the West, but it was also given out in Gen IV and now Gen VI, in addition the Japanese Colosseum Bonus Disc gives you Celebi instead of Jirachi so yeah. Then there's Jirachi, who was released in the West on the Colosseum Bonus Disc and from Pokemon Channel for the Gamecube in Europe, plus there was also an event for it in Gen IV (is there a trend going on here?).

    I could keep going, but I really have to go so maybe I'll jump back into this thread later.

    I'd have to go with a legit mew here as well, there was only so much distributions and ppl tend to want a lot in return for one
     
    I would disagree with Mew as it has had many events and an glitch to get in Gen 1. Jirachi is easy to get thanks to Colosuem/Pokechannel and it had an HG/SS event. Deoxys has had the ticket event and that B/W/B2/W2 event last year. See where this is going..

    I would say the Rarest would be the Shiny events that was only in Japan.
