What Are you disappointed, are you happy?

How will it influence the next series?

Will we see a different kind of team with other kind of types?

I myself am dissapointed, it's unfair that Ash gets a water and fire type and not a grass type.

How is it "unfair", first of all. Types are types. It's obvious none of the Grass types in Kalos suited Ash's personality if he hadn't obtained one. That's really all I have to say on this matter. As for how I felt about it, I didn't really care. I thought it was interesting that Ash didn't capture a Grass-type this time around, it made his team focus very different. In the very beginning we all assumed that he would capture Chespin, but looking back, Chespin never really suited his character to start with.

I would like this trend to continue where Ash does not get the Grass type. There are many other types for Ash to play around with that he has not used yet. I know it's wishful thinking, but another Electric type alongside Pikachu is something I want, tbh. Maybe he can finally also get a Steel type.

The only other Grass types in Kalos to begin with besides the Chespin line were the Skiddo line, Phantump line and the Pumpkaboo line anyway. There are many other Pokemon that suited him better.

I found it weird at first to see Ash not get a single Grass-type in the region, but then again I likely blamed it on the fact 6th Gen introduced way too few Pokemon to the point his team didn't have many options (at least in the writers' eyes). Jessie and Alexa already owned Gourgeist and Gogoat, so it kinda ruled them out plus the writers making Chespin a comedy relief also kept it out of the Ash race, since I suspected they wanted to make the XY saga and Ash's Kalos team "more serious" and I guess that played a factor into why the series is getting received well, at least in the US since this ended up being the worst-rated saga in Japan.

I hope Ash catches a Grass-type again for his Alola team (I think Rowlet) and maybe we'll see how different his team can become or not.

I'm not really fussed, I think it's a sign people should stop relying so much on patterns.

Ash's Kalos team definitely has a speed / power aesthetic, which is why I lowkey think they got rid of Goodra quickly lol, he fit the power side but he wasn't "visually appealing" when stacked next to his other Pokemon who are all nimble and can move. And the grass types in the Kalos region don't currently match with his team aesthetic.

Funny, no grass types this time around and it's my favourite team? #DownWithGrassTypes

As for the questions; will it influence the series? No. Will they use other types? Maybe. It'd be nice for them to go for the unused types such as Steel, Psychic etc.

I don't see Ash getting another electric type it would remove Pikachus uniqueness. Also I don't see what makes a Pokémon suit Ash I don't think there is a rule that makes Ash certain Pokémon, only the desire of he getting.

Alexa also owned a Noivern but I would have preferred Phantump.

There wasn't really any grass types suitable for Ash in comparison to what his team ended up being in the end. I wouldn't trade one of his current teammates for a grass type, in any case, and I definitely wouldn't give him a seventh Pokemon for XYZ either.

That said chances are he'll definitely be getting a grass types in Alola due to the abundance in them so we can always look forward to that. But him not having a grass type is kind of refreshing, honestly. Grass types never really suited him unless they had speed on them, such as Sceptile. Torterra was great but after it fully evolved it's development stinted and it's fighting style was the opposite of what Ash is best wish (hard fast hitters such as Pikachu).
