What's the inside of a pokeball like?

    I wonder...

I thought it was like a box, but I wanna hear what you think.

    It must be something

    PART 2:
You guys gave me a lotta ideas. Some of you said it was like another world. That would be cool. Others said it was like a plastic space. That would be torture. The answer I liked was said by a few of you. You said it was like being asleep. I think that's pretty cool. Now, I want you guys to answer another thing. Why would PIKACHU not wanna be in the Poke Ball?

Well, on the episode of the first season where Misty got Psyduck, they showed it sitting in the pokeball. It was just a white interior ball with a shrunken psyduck in it. I dont know if thats what it would be like, but that episode kinda painted a picture for me. To think of it, that would kinda suck. Just a plain old white orb that you are forced to be cramped up in. How do you poop?

  • Idk if this is what it would be like, but this is what I would like for it to be like inside of a Pokéball: It syncs to the type of Pokémon that inhabits it. Say you have an electric type Pokémon; well it'd probably be like a simulation of a long void of electrical storms. Or something along those lines. I can see the Pokémon being placed into a giant realm based on it's species and/or type-sort.

Another idea that I gather, is that it is plain darkness -- which is why Ash's Pikachu disliked the confined area. Yes, if it were just pitch blackness, it would suck to be absorbed into a Pokéball. That only leads me to think perhaps a Pokémon sleeps for the short or long time that it is in the ball, or ponders about what it would or could have done previous to being recalled back into the sphere.

This thread makes me think: What's it like inside of a PC? Millions of Pokémon get stored in there. Hmm...

  • It probably feels really chill since you've been materialized into energy. O_o I bet a pokemon is just suspended as energy inside an airtight capsule, not knowing when its trainer is gonna force it back into the ball or out of it.

Seeing as pogeys are stored in PCs, they probably are parsed into comprehensible data that anyone with their wits about computers could crack. In the pokeworld, apparently only Bill and those other PC folk know how to do that, but in reality... imagine, all of your hard earned Pokemon, gone to hackers and viruses. Of course, I guess the anime does a better job of handwaving that.

Hey, if Pokemon are churned into data as they go in and out Pokeballs, is the pokemon you caught really the pokemon you actually saw? You know, like that Star Trek transporter paradox thing?

  • the way that I imagine it, the inside of the pokeball would depend on the Pokemon. I remember some speculation of a forum a while back where a lot of people agreed that the most humane way would be a simulation of the pokemon's natural habitat.

Also brought to mind, the inside of a Dark Ball must be full of horrible things in order to turn a pokemon evil.

  • In any case, Pokeballs do have different design in the inside. I mean, the Luxeball must be better, and more confortable. So each type of Pokeballs must have their own design, and conditions that have different effects on Pokemons, according to their type, mood, etc...
    Anyway, I'm not sure.

  • Have to admit this is quite an interesting topic.
I would have to agree on Black Prince's theory. The variety may have different effects. I would the Pokemon would undergo some sort of virtual reality to pass the time. In reality the Pokemon is in some sort of dormant state.

  • I just figured that it would be a small world for the Pokemon to sit in and wait to be released. Man, that would actually suck... I don't think there is anything around them but plastic.

((I actually vaguely remember someone mentioning that the inside of a PokeBall was like, fields and lakes... I don't remember if it was the episode or not. I thought it was absurd.))

  • I've thought more recently that being in a pokeball is almost like being asleep or in a coma. You wouldn't realize you were in there or anything.

You just couldn't help it could you, you sick uneuphoraticistic tomato monkey. Where the **** is my brain bleach?

As for what really is inside a Pokeball. It's anyone's guess really. They have laser guns, transporters, super mechas, advanced space programs, etc... I'd say we are about 30 years behind the Pokemon World. So anything goes.

I think the Pokemon each get their own mansion, just like the people in the pure truth world when they die.

  • I'm thinking that they get slightly shrunk and they are asleep, whether it be coma-induced or not. I haven't given much thought to the whole situation.

I remember reading somewhere that Pokémon can see out of their Pokéballs, or at least are aware of what's going on in the world around them. This could be backed up in numerous instances in the animé, when a trainer orders what attack a Pokémon to use just before it's released from it's Pokéball. It also helps to explain the fact of Pokémon jumping out of their Pokéballs of their own accord in times of need (or for comic effect ^^).

Whether this is canon to the games or manga I don't know. :/ But judging by that I would think Pokémon go into a non-corporeal state (look it up) in which their physical forms are totally at rest, but they are still aware of what is happening around them.

    Just a theory. :P

Yes, that makes sense. Otherwise someone would send out a Pokemon in a battle and that Pokemon would be thinking: 'Where the heck am I?' so then it's not ready for battle. It's kinda weird, especially the inside of a PC XD

  • As far as i can see it they get shrunk into a little red light that goes into the pokeball and then they get released by that light into the pokeball but still staying shrunk and inside the pokeball is like its own demension were one pokemno can do as it pleases freely.

But then again the world may never know.
