I haven't the game yet, but this is my planned in-game team:

Meganium, Male (Quiet Nature: Magical Leaf, Body Slam, Aromatheropy, Solarbeam)
Kangaskan, Female (Adamant Nature: Mega Punch, Crunch, Outrage, Rage)
Pidgeot, Male (Adamant Nature: Wing Attack, Twister, Air Slash, Roost)
Slowbro, Male (ModestNature: Yawn, Zen Headbutt, Psychic, Surf)
Arcanine, Female (Neutral Nature: Flamethrower, Crunch, Fire Fang, Take Down)
Jolteon, Male (Brave Nature: Thunder Fang, Strength, Thunder Bolt, Double Kick)

A level Ten Cyndaquil named "Wally".
And a level Five Pidgey named "Feathers".
My progress is low, i've battled about two trainers.
EDIT: Updated Team: TWO new Pokemon to my team, a level 10 Spinarak named "Venom". Also, a very overused Pokemon, Mareep, named "Shockster", who is only level 6, Just recently caught.

I trained them all in HG from Lv. 1-5, except my Honchkrow o-o It was at Lv. 30 when I got it

My dream team for my Heart Gold game consists of

I can dream, right? Haha.
Someday it won't be a dream though, I just have to train the right Pokemon.

So far though my team is Croconaw, Pidgeotto, Furret, Gastly, Nidorina, and a Flaaffy.

yes, this is my team... it took a long time to figure out team roles such as the tank and what-not.
 
Machamp aka Muscle--obtained in a trade with the guy in Goldenrod Dept. store. Traded Drowsee for her. Machamp helped me so much in this game. Her attacks are Vital Throw, Earthquake, Strength, DynamicPunch. Level 51.

Feraligatr--Very helpful. She knows Ice Fang, Screech, Hydro Cannon, and Crunch. Level 49.

Red Gyarados--Waterfall, Dragon Dance, Ice Fang, Hyper Beam.

Ampharos--Level 51. Very useful as well. Will use him against Sabrina since he knows Signal Beam, Discharge, Iron Tail and Focus Punch.

I had Pidgeotto as my flying Pokemon up until I got the amazingly gorgeous Lugia. Pidgeotto knows Gust, Twister, Fly and Quick Attack. Lugia knows Aeroblast, Fly, Hydro Pump and Extrasensory.

Others I've been using Scyther (Rock Smash, Pursuit, False Swipe, Focus Energy), Vulpix--waiting for her to get to level 44 and learn Extrasensory before evolving her-- (Flamethrower, Confuse Ray, Captivate, Safeguard), Ursaring (Sweet Scent), Gloom (Flash)--Want it to evolve into Bellossom, but I don't have Sun Stone in my game yet. Dratini level 25--Extremespeed, Thunder Wave, Dragon Rage, Slam.

SHINY MEOWTH: Bite, Fake out, Growl, Fury Swipes.

Can't decide if I want to replace Mareep with Abra or Starmie. I eventually want Snorlax, but will have to settle on something until then. My starter was Totodile, but just love Water/Ground-type. Only one weakness and the strongest non-Legendary bird that can easily cover it.
