When did you fall out with the anime or stop watching?

I stopped watching while Sun & Moon was airing. At the time I felt really let down, because I thought it was a downgrade from the quality standard that XYZ had set up, both visually and plot-wise. But now I'm thinking about going back and watching it. The SM games received a lot of unjust hatred as well around that time, and now I recognize them as some of my favorite entries in the series! So that's why I'm considering giving the anime a chance after so long, this time without comparing it to the previous anime.

I tried watching Journeys as well, it was cute but not very gripping imo. Maybe I'll use it as background noise while drawing. Mostly, I'll just google which episodes have my favorite pokemon in them to watch, and maybe the finale as well just because of Ash becoming the champion. But I think I'll skip the new anime completely, or do the same and watch just for my favorites.

I watched every season up until Sun and Moon's ending. I was really hoping to just continue onto Galar with the standard formula, perhaps a bit more episodic but still having a good overarching story/plot, but was honestly very disappointed after watching a few episodes of Journeys. It was mainly the near purely episodic format and the skipping or glossing over of so called "important" battles that disappointed me. I didn't feel compelled or drawn into the show despite being the prime demographic. Additionally, it felt like a huge letdown after Sun and Moon. I initially felt like the ending of Sun and Moon was a perfect ending for Ash's story and admittedly was confused and downright disappointed when Journeys was announced. I haven't watched the anime at all for a while but finally watched it again last week, and by Arceus do I still love Sun and Moon, even with its many flaws. (cough cough main issue being Ash looking... interesting in the new style despite everyone else looking pretty nice cough cough)

I haven't returned to watch Journeys or Horizons and won't return unless Kiawe, Jacq, Milo, any Magnemites/Shroomish, or Larry appear. Flimsy logic yes, but it is simply what makes most sense to me

I stopped watching when the art style changed, so I guess that's Sun and Moon. Though I have seen clips of many episodes since then, and I was thinking of trying to catch up to the series, or movies.

I'm a bit iffy on the new anime, but I just feel like I should give it a chance!

I never did. I still watch it. I do admit Liko hardly interests me, but I do still watch the anime. I've been in it too long to stop now, and so I just keep going.

I haven't watched any of the recent films though. Don't really care enough to watch the Zarude film.

I missed out on a number of Hoenn-based episodes because of my cable temporarily dropping Cartoon Network. When I got back into the series, I finally stopped watching after XYZ and before Sun/Moon started. The "cartoony anime" style does not fit the Pokemon franchise at all. The older style (Indigo League through XYZ) fits much better.

I only saw Indigo League and it was out of order since I would rent the VHS tapes from the library. I saw like 50 episodes which I enjoyed but I remember being disappointed with how Ash lost at the League that I didn't want to continue the series after that. Especially after hearing that he keeps losing so I just stuck with the games. It felt so anticlimactic with how his journey went, but then again I was a kid and really wanted him to be the champion. If this hadn't happened then the series would've been over and I doubt the studio would want to start over given Ash's popularity.

Sometime between the transition from Johto to Hoenn, back when I was a kid, my cable service provider eventually phased out anime from all cable TV (think: Fox Kids, JETIX, Made In Japan, etc.) and replaced them with sports. Streaming wasn't a thing, and anime stores were also not a thing, so I couldn't procure Pokémon VHS and DVDs and stay up-to-date. With my only sources of staying updated being Serebii and Pokécommunity episode summaries, the lack of being able to actually watch anything made it so that I eventually fell off the anime when Pokémon Advanced first started.
